"Augh! I lost!" Daniel shouted, heavily panting while lying on the ground. It didn't take Nico more than a minute to defeat him. Now he knew that the true extent of Nico's power was still unknown to him.

He lost because Nico had better control over the spirit shackles. Moreover, Daniel didn't have any points in the Spiritual stat, making it impossible for him to have a good control over the chains, also, they were easily breakable, unlike Nico's chains.
