Chapter 4

After receiving the directions from Jonah, Nevan and the armored figure turned at the corner and the armored figure notified Nevan about the inn that Jonah was telling the duo. It was in the middle part of the street but with the armored figure's eyesight, it could see the sign that Jonah told them.

Nevan let the armored figure lead the way and arrived in front of Mama Bear's inn, it was a three story inn, a really big size, compared to its neighbors where they only had two stories at most. Nevan thought that there's no customers as there was not much bustle and noise compared to what Nevan was used to. When the duo entered, shock flashed by Nevan's eyes. He could see the tables filled with customers but they were silent and tranquil, focusing on their food.

"Oh, a traveller and a holy knight?" A voice spoke when they stepped inside.

Nevan and the armored figure looked towards a small desk where a girl with brown hair in her early teens was sitting with a bored look on her face. Her eyes were the same color as her hair. What surprised Nevan was her figure, she was more well toned than he was when he was at her age.

"Hello, young lady, is this the inn that Jonah told us about?" Nevan stepped forward and acted naturally. He didn't want the armored figure to step in at all considering that it was not used to dealing with common people.

The armored figure also knows that Nevan would do a better job at talking and negotiating than itself.

'If its a military campaign, I would not lose out at all.' The armored figure thought, not wanting to lose out to Nevan.

"Oh, that scammer was the one who recommended you? Looks like you got on his good side. That scammer tell you about this inn if you didn't give him a fair price." The young lady said which made Nevan nod. When Nevan saw the wide businessman's smile plastered on Jonah's face, he could tell that he was a merchant for a long time, a pretty good one at that as well.

"Yes, its that Jonah." Nevan said which made the young lady smile.

"Since that guy recommended you to our place, I'll give you a discounted fair price. Our place cost eighty silver coins for a day without meals, and 1 gold coin if three is meals included. Since that guy has recommended you, I'll offer 70 silver coins for a day with three meals included." The young lady said while looking at the holy knight.

"Then we'll take two rooms with meals included." Nevan said making the young lady shake her head.

"You actually came at the wrong timing though. There's only one room left with two beds. All of them are occupied at the moment. Before you decline, let me tell you this, all of the inns in this town were full at the moment." The young lady said and Nevan looked at the armored figure who was about to turn around.

"We'll take it. How many days we'll be able to stay with this?" Nevan then slid a medium sized jewel at the desk. The young lady was surprised when he saw Nevan casually sliding a jewel as payment.

"Two and a half months at best." The young lady said making Nevan estimate the value of one jewel in the pouch. He only used three yet the pouch still has lots of it. He remembered that the armored figure has something like a storage made for itself.

'Wait, is the pouch something like that too?' Nevan trembled at the amount of money he was carrying and forced himself to calm down.

"Then we'll take it." Nevan said and the armored figure felt like stabbing Nevan with the spear.

Noticing the scary intent, Nevan turned around and spoke.

"Then do you prefer to sleep outside?" Nevan sharply asked and the armored figure stood silent.

"Iyaaah, what a scary holy knight... but do you think I'm lying to you?" The young lady's eyes stared at the armored figure. The armored figure swallowed the anger it felt and calmed down.

"Do you still want it?" The young lady turned to Nevan as she asked him a question.

"We'll take it. But can I know why is this town's inns are full?" Nevan asked her.

"Since you're such an easy person to talk to, I'll tell you as a special service." The young lady said seriously.

"Kingdom of Edinburgh is being invaded by vampires, and many mercenaries were taking their chances to capture them and sell them for a high price while saying that they were helping them to reclaim Edinburgh. Also Kingdom of Castellio is being invaded by barbarians and issued help from Liones. Liones then started hiring mercenaries to help as reinforcements. This town is bordering the two Kingdoms that's why lots of mercenaries are staying here before heading out to fight." The young lady said and Nevan absorbed the information in his mind.

"If all the inns are full, then why does this inn still have a slot left?" Nevan asked as he was curious about it.

"Hmph, some b*stard told me to service him with my body and got kicked and beaten by my mother after saying that." The young lady said. Nevan could see the fuming rage in the young lady's eyes.

"What's taking you long, Ellie? Help me in here!" A shout came from the kitchen and the young lady, Ellie, shouted back.

"There's a new customer! One more serving Mama!" Ellie shouted and the kitchen went silent for a few seconds before a tanned muscular woman came out of the kitchen. Her black hair was short like a man and she was carrying a huge pot and brought it to the long center table. (Just imagine Bisky's body)

"Alright punks! Have your fill to your heart's contents! Be sure to clean this pot up!" The woman roared at the customers and the customers started rushing like starving wolves but they didn't dare be rash lest they break any chairs, tables, or decorations in the inn or else their bones will be the one broken.

The armored figure's gaze sharpened after seeing the woman's beastly aura. The woman feeling the armored figure's stare roared.

"You! You better come up or there'll be no breakfast for you! These punks will eat everything if you just stand there!" The woman shouted and Nevan was already in the line before the armored figure could notice. The armored figure then lined up to have its breakfast. Everything that happened was new to it and its eyes were full of curiosity.

In its hometown, no one would dare to shout at her like that. It would always be praises that the armored figure could hear. Everything to the armored figure was new experience that it had never received before.

Ellie who was sitting boredly, stood up and followed the woman who then went back to the kitchen and came back with baskets full of bread. Ellie also came out and brought baskets of bread to the long table.

Inside the armor, a beautiful smile formed within its face as it felt that the world really is an amazing and a beautiful place.
