First Fight

Leaning against a tree to protect myself from the sunlight, I was eating an accanach while putting ideas in order in my head. With so much information in my head, it was easy to become crazy.

An accanach is, basically, a blue peach with some spikes on it.

How did I know?

With my skill [Library Of Heaven] of course.

After a bunch of questions, I learned the extent of it.

Not only I can ask general questions about skills, but it can also analyse anything and give me a summary description of the object.

It might sound weak but it is one of the best skills I could have asked for.

If in the future I were to encounter an enemy, [Library Of Heaven] would be able to warn me whether or not I stand a chance. And in case the opponent is too powerful, I can flee even before meeting him.

Also, [Library Of Heaven] has given me more insight into my current race. Just like in my previous world, a Phoenix is also considered a legendary race here. This explains why there is 'Ancient' in front of it as it indicates the rarity of a race.

In conclusion, I've hit the jackpot.

With so many powerful skills at my disposition, It was easy to become arrogant. However, staying humble is a must as this world is still unknown and so are its world's leaders.

Since magic exists in this world, strength is equal to freedom. In my previous life, even if you were strong politically and rich, a bullet in the head was all it took to end your life.

Here with magic, you can basically do whatever you want if you have power.

Someone is pissing you off and disrespecting you? Just beat him up. What can they do to punish you for doing something right?

Then, a scream startled me and interrupted my thoughts.

"Fireball!"

Excited to meet someone, I darted towards the direction the sound came from.

When comparing my speed to when I was on Earth, I am almost five times faster and my hearing got so much better that I was able to detect someone shouting 500 meters away from me.

As a Phoenix, my physical prowess has improved significantly as well as my five senses, according to [Library Of Heaven].

The person must be a fire mage just by supposing from his spell. Maybe I can get more information about this world from him.

With this in my mind, I increased my speed even more and it didn't take long to arrive at the scene.

"I...cannot… lose!" the wolf said as blood stained his light blue fur. In front of him was a giant spider, the wolf's legs were shaking, but not from fear. Even with his small size, the wolf never left his opponent's eyes and faced it head on with bravery.

Oh...a talking wolf...

No, I wasn't dreaming. In front of my eyes was a real creature from fantasy.

With this fact in my mind, other creatures such as goblins, elves, dragons, dwarves, demons and many more may exist.

There's a chance that this world is a fantasy one with monsters and different races.

If there's an adventurer guild, should I become a member?

The spider leaped towards its prey who was too exhausted to avoid in time.

Seems like I have to intervene...

As I haven't practised my fire magic yet, it was a much better option to fight it with my physical power.

My propulsion force was high enough to leave a visible crater on the tree.

Just as the spider was about to bite his prey and shred it apart, I appeared in front of it in an instant and shoved it away with my wings.

Why do I have wings?

I am a phoenix so it is only natural that I have them on my back.

"Are you alright?" I asked, munching the accanach.

"Y-Yeah. Thank you, m-my lord!" The wolf lowered his head to the ground, almost hitting the land in the process.

Without saying anything, I gazed at him for a few seconds, trying to figure out why he is being so polite and respectful.

Usually, you would feel grateful for your saviour but you won't actually treat him with the utmost respect as if he was your king.

His behaviour makes sense now. The phoenix is an ancient level race so no wonder he showed me so much respect.

It would be troublesome to attract the attention of many people anywhere I go. I need to keep a low profile until I gather enough information.

*Shriek!*

Oh? It's still alive...

As if once wasn't enough for it, the spider charged at us at full speed. Its size was large enough to overshadow and swallow us in one single bite.

"Get lost!" Holding my hand tight, I smashed its head which exploded into pieces. Even after this, its body continued moving for a moment. What a disgusting sight to see.

Next time, I'll make sure to learn how to use my magic to not have to dirty my hand like this.

Slowly, the corpse disintegrated into thousands of dark orbs of light and integrated into my body.

During this moment, a feeling of invincibility enveloped me as my power increased even more. It felt so good that it could become addictive. I must be careful with that.

It's not a useful skill in a dynamic fight but this might be useful in some circumstances.

I've just killed a creature but I don't feel any remorse. As if it's nothing more than an ant who is not worthy of caring about.

Perhaps it's because I've become a monster myself and have therefore lost empathy.

From the moment I came into this world, I have been abnormally calm. Even in face of a giant spider and a talking wolf, my heartbeat stayed the same.

Is this an effect of my race?

I am really not a human anymore. Not that it's a bad thing. Humans are stupid creatures anyway. Even in this world, I bet they're the same.

Still kneeling on the ground, the wolf said, "I owe you my life, my lord. I am forever grateful to you for avenging my pack and saving my life. Unfortunately, I have nothing to reward you for your noble deed other than my loyalty. Please, allow me to follow you."
