Aeryz's Past

During my evolution, I found myself in a strange place I've never seen before.

Some of the stuff were recognisable but most of the things in the room were unknown to me.

In front of me were three people and one of them happened to be my master whose appearance was much younger than when I first met him. Dark circles under his moist eyes added to his bad complexion.

Even without anyone telling me, I could guess the identity of the other person standing beside my master as their physical traits looked almost the same except that he was taller than my master but didn't seem too old to be his father.

The woman laying in a bed looked like she was about to breath her last moment seeing how pale and weak she was. I felt that if her eyes were to shut down, they would never open back again.

"Please don't leave us, mother… I beg you!" my master shouted.

The scene left me stunned as the first impression I had of him was of someone cold and dominating. Yet, right in front of my eyes, he showed the opposite of that.

At the side, although his brother didn't say anything, his lips kept trembling and his eyes never left the woman, as if he was afraid to lose her the moment he glanced away.

"The doctors said that there's no hope for me." Although the woman's life was about to end, she kept a smile in front of her children. "Lucius, please take care of your brother for your father and I. As for you, Aeryz, I know it's difficult for you but be strong, my son. I love you."

"Don't worry. You can count on me." Lucius reassured the woman, his voice couldn't hide his current emotions.

"No! I don't want to lose you too!" Aeryz refused to accept the situation.

Seeing him crying like that made me feel powerless as I blamed myself for only observing from afar and not being able to do anything, not even giving him a hug to alleviate his sorrow just by little bit.

Following the loss of his mother, he fell into a deep depression as he slept and ate very little.

Other than his big brother who was always away for work and to earn money for them, he didn't have anyone else to support him emotionally.

At school, no children came to talk to him as his physical appearance looked like a mess.

Due to his emotional state, he disregarded his health and thus had a constant depressed face which was accompanied by dark circles under his eyes and a skinnier body.

"Look at this guy. He is so weird…" One of his classmates didn't even bother whispering and just said it out loud.

Lost in his thoughts, he probably didn't hear it but my claws got out by themselves, ready to shred the foolish idiot who said that.

But being a useless servant, I couldn't do anything and had to settle with only watching from afar.

Excluded from the social circle, he was alone with no one but his busy big brother to care for him, so this didn't help him at getting out of his depression at all.

This is not right. What did he do to suffer all of this? I just want him to be happy…

It took a long time but as years passed, he ended his depression thanks to Lucius who had taken care of him like a good brother.

With a happy smile, I watched them spend quality time together between brothers, happy that his mental state had become better.

"Let's play another round and just wait, I will win this time!"

"You're too young to beat me at this game!" Lucius laughed at his little brother who refused to accept his loss.

These moments were rare. Yet, it was during these moments that I would see genuine smiles appearing back on his face which filled me with happiness.

However, who would have thought that fate would struck once again an innocent and kind boy who has never hurt anyone in his life.

At that evening, I stood at his side, gazing at the grave of the person who, for master, was like the sun in a world without light.

This time, my master didn't cry. Silently, he just remained at the same spot for hours with empty eyes as if he had already exhausted all of his tears and couldn't shed tears anymore.

Following this, the same empty expression re-emerged on his face. But this time, there was something else, something different. He wanted revenge.

It was the fault of these people that his big brother left him all alone.

The next years, he stopped going to school and spent all of his time planning all kinds of stuff to assassinate those responsible for his brother's death.

During this time, I've watched how an once kind-hearted boy who would do no harm to anyone become someone else whose entire existence was dedicated to revenge.

My master didn't deserve to go through all this. He had done nothing wrong. It was not fair…

When I returned back to reality, I wiped away the tears on my cheeks and walked towards my master.

When we met each other for the first time, the first impression I had of him was of someone strong and cold. Without showing any doubt and fear, he destroyed my opponent and saved my life.

But now, his dominating aura was in fact there to conceal his broken heart from the world.

When straddling him, I smiled at the person I've become attached to and grew to care for before going towards his neck to complete the last step of the ritual.

'With my body and soul, I swear to make you happy in this life.' I vowed in my mind.
