Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time, probably. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just changed it to Gilgamesh because... Zenkichi basically almost resembles him at this point(I didn't planned for this happen) Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 66: Zenkichi vs Odin(1)

"Ladies and gentlemen, Gods and Goddesses of all kind!"

Suddenly, the lights on the audience went out, leaving only the center of the stage below bright with the spotlights for all to see.

Standing on top of the stack of beer cases, was a short figure with a robot-like face and sporting a pair of protective goggles, similar to those worn by airplane pilots in World War One.

The most eye-catching part of him was not only his robotic face, but the grey yukata he was wearing which he left the chest area exposed, revealing his muscular physique.

On his right, he held a large golden horn, Gjallarhorn, and used it as if it were a microphone while on his other hand he held a wide red cup filled with sake.

He was Heimdall, currently known as the mc of Ragnarok. But also the so-called "Watchman of the Apocalypse."

"Welcome back to the next round of Ragnarok, the fifth round of this hour! Today, we have a truly unique match-up for you all. But first, how about a little recap of this event's records." Heimdall spoke with such vigor and enthusiasm, he would always garner the attention of the audience. Whether it be humans, or Gods.

"Four matches had gone by out of the total of thirteen. Two for the Gods and two for humankind! A unprecedented event, a rebellion unlike any other. The first half of the event had the Gods dominating the matches with their strongest deities, the God of Lightning — Thor; and the God of Thunder and the Sky — Zeus!" Heimdall exclaimed, inciting voices of excitement and thrill from the Gods' side.

Heimdall nodded, taking a sip from his sake, he continued. "Both are very well respected Gods of their respective pantheons, but so did their enemies as well. "Humanity's Strongest Warrior in History" and "Father of Humanity", Lu Bu and Adam! True historical figures who left their mark in history and will be eternally idolized in human hearts and immortal Gods' souls."

"Man, they really left a great impression to us all Gods." Heimdall chuckled, his goggles shining from the spotlight. "But so did the next following fighters."

"Sasaki Kojiro; History's Strongest Loser, verses the God of Gods; Sea God Poseidon. Jack The Ripper; History's Most Infamous Serial Killer versus The Envoy of Justice; Heracles. The day the loser won, the seas calmed. When malice strives, hope triumphs."

"Man," Heimdall let out a sigh and finished on drinking the rest of the sake. "I gotta miss you guys."

There was a moment of great silence.

"Now, without any further ado. Let me introduce to you, Humanity's next fighter of this round!" Heimdall broke the silence, throwing the empty cup away and turned to point out.

"He is a young man of unknown origins but his name is unmistakable someone from the great country of Eastern Asia, the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan!"

"Now, I know what you're all wondering. Which great hero is it? Is he a samurai? An emperor? A serial killer? No. No, no, no..."

Several spotlights began lighting up and a young man began walking out. His long golden hair, youthful face and different colored eyes quickly caught everyone's attention.

"Oho, now there's another cutie with blond hair," A incredibly beautiful and busty Goddess commented as she set her deep blue eyes at the young man. She subconsciously licked her lips and leaned forward to look at him more, causing her generous donkers to jiggle. "Hmm~ I wonder if I can ask Shiva to spare him for a while~"

"Sorry to burst your bubble," The Goddess blinked, hearing a familiar angry sounding voice. But it shouldn't be possible because he was supposed to be the one to fight right now! She turned to find Shiva, laying on his mattress with his hand on his face looking mightily pissed off.

"Oh my, dear Shiva. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be the one fighting that handsome mortal?"

Shiva clicked his tongue and looked away, "Plans changed, Aphrodite. Odin's the one fighting that guy now."

Aphrodite blinked and burst out laughing, "Haha. Hahahahaha! How hilarious! Y-You got walked over, again?! Hahahaha!"

Shiva popped a vein, his head then turned towards Aphrodite with all his five eyes opened, shining with a golden light filled murderous intent. Crimson aura covered his body.

"Bitch, watch your tone with me. Those old farts are one thing, but you? I don't have the habit on punching chicks, but I ain't afraid on hitting a thirsty thot like you."

Aphrodite's expression darkened. A creepy and malevolent aura began to emit around her body.

While the God of Destruction and Goddesses of Love and Beauty were having a tense moment, the situation below continued on without any problems.

"—He is not a man from the past, but of the present! A new hero rising from the metal cities and polluted air. He has great courage and bravery, he's not even 2 decades old, but he has the guts to stand up to the Gods and say that he'll give them an Ass Whopping!"

The Gods gasped and murmured angrily while the Humans started laughing out loud at the young man's attitude.

The smart ones however, were in deep thought as they heard Heimdall's introduction of the young man.

'The present day? Who could be worthy enough in modern day to fight Gods?' they thought.

It wasn't a secret that modern day was a time where it's mostly peaceful. A time when magic is thought to be a myth, Science and Technology now ruling the economy. A time when humans had no need for heroes and legends. So, who could this young man be?

As the young man reached the center of the stage, Heimdall gestured towards him, a wide smile on his robotic face. "Unknown and no known achievement in his life, he is a Nameless Hero. History's Strongest Nobody!"

"Zenkichi Hitoyoshi!"

Zenkichi smiled and waved a hand towards the audience members, who all looked at him in confusion and disbelief.

A few words simultaneously went through people's minds as they looked at the young man, wearing a school uniform with just gauntlets and grieves on as armor.

'Who the fuck is that?'

The Japanese were especially confused. They asked around and no one could bring an answer to who that young man was.

Did they really bring in a modern day highschool student to fight a God?! Are the organizers brain dead!?

Even Heimdall shared their beliefs. He thought it was a prank or a bluff that Brunhilde came up with but seeing the boy up close, with his keen eyes, he could see that although the boy has a substantial amount of mana and a powerful soul but his bones showed him to be around the age of seventeen or eighteen!

'Brunhilde, are you throwing this match?' He narrowed his eyes in suspicion, looking up around to try and find the captain of the Valkyries but only finding a worried looking Göll. That only added to his doubts and confusion.

'Well, considering who this boy's opponent will be, I don't blame you.' Heimdall inwardly sighed, feeling pity for the young mortal. Adding to the fact that he looked like that meant that he had died recently as well. 'Lord Odin, please be merciful and give this arrogant boy a swift death.'

As the murmurs of confusion and disbelief continued throughout the audience, Zenkichi stood tall and confident in the center of the stage. He may be a "nobody" in the eyes of the world, but he was determined to prove himself in this battle against a God.

Heimdall, noticing the tension in the air, raised his golden horn once again and the audience fell silent, the spotlight shining on Zenkichi.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Gods and Goddesses," Heimdall's voice boomed through the arena. "Today, we witness a clash of power and determination. A battle between a mortal who defies the odds and a God who has reigned supreme for centuries."

The tension in the air grew even thicker as the anticipation for the impending fight reached its peak. Zenkichi could feel the eyes of both humans and Gods on him, their expectations and doubts intertwining.

"And now, let's welcome the God Fighter," Heimdall continued, his voice filled with excitement, "the Chief God of the Norse, a land of war and good ale in all the realms, the God who conquered the Nine Realms!"

As Heimdall's words echoed through the arena, a figure emerged from the shadows, stepping onto the stage. Numerous dark and white crows flying everywhere, like a whirlwind.

The atmosphere became charged with an electric energy as Odin, the King of the Aesir, made his grand entrance.

"Once a mere God of War, Odin has risen to become the ruler of Asgard and the most powerful God in the Norse pantheon. With his one-eyed gaze and his mighty spear, Gungnir, he has led his people to victory time and time again."

"He is, The AllFather of the Gods!!"

"AllFather! AllFather!!"

"AllFather! AllFather!!"

All the Gods started yelling, chanting Odin's title as he approached Zenkichi.

Odin's presence alone was awe-inspiring. His long black hair and beard, coupled with his regal armor, wooden stick and his signature eyepatch, gave him an air of wisdom and authority. His one remaining eye seemed to hold the knowledge of the ages, a flicker of both power and weariness.

Although he looked old, in the mortals' opinion, he looked much more awesome than that grotesque Zeus.

The crowd erupted into cheers and applause as Odin took his place opposite Zenkichi. The clash of mortal and God was about to commence.

"Zenkichi Hitoyoshi," Odin's voice boomed across the arena, commanding the attention of all. "You are young, so you might not fully understand your hubris. But as you stand against me now, as a warrior, I'll only say this."

A cold glint flashed across his one eye, "I will show you no mercy."

Zenkichi stood firm, a determined look in his eyes. He chuckled, "Heh. I already told you, I'm going in this tournament to whoop your Godly Asses. Death? I've already experienced that, I'm not scared of dying."

"But," Zenkichi looked down at his armored hands, remembering his homeworld and his quest, his resolve grew. "what I'm more scared of is failing my loved ones. So, do your worst AllFather. Because I'm going to do worse."

The human crowd erupted into cheers and applause once more, this time for Zenkichi's courageous declaration. The atmosphere was electrified with anticipation, the stage set for an epic battle between mortal and God.

Heimdall raised his golden horn once again, his voice filled with excitement. "And now, let the battle begin! May the Gods tremble and the mortals find hope in the face of Odin and Zenkichi Hitoyoshi!"

As the echoes of Heimdall's words faded away, the arena plunged into darkness once more, leaving only the spotlights on Odin and Zenkichi to illuminate the stage.

The clash of power was about to begin, and the world held its breath in anticipation. The battle between a mortal nobody and the chief God of the Norse was destined to be one for the ages, a moment that would go down in history.

The scene would've been more epic, if it weren't for the cans of beers stacked in the middle.

Odin even gave it a glance, and raised an eyebrow towards Zenkichi. The latter merely gave him a cheeky grin and a shrug.

"Youngsters," Odin shook his head and tapped his wooden stick on the ground, a bright light radiated off the wooden stick as it soon transformed into his mighty spear, Gungnir. The crowd gasped at the sight of the legendary weapon, its power resonating through the air. "always with the unpredictability tactic." he murmured, amusement in his voice.

And as Odin raised his mighty spear and Zenkichi prepared to face him head-on, both knew that only one would emerge victoriously.

The stage was set, the audience on the edge of their seats, and the battle of Ragnarok was about to reach its climax.

The contrast between Odin, the epitome of Godly might, and Zenkichi, the seemingly ordinary highschool student, was stark.

But Zenkichi stood his ground, his gaze unyielding as he raised his gauntlets, his mouth was soon covered with a metal mouthpiece.

"Let the fifth match of Ragnarok, Begin!"
