Uriel Rising
Since the death of God a century ago, the seven Archangels who served under him have worked to keep the afterlife in order. Splitting into numerous different factions under the values of each individual Archangel, Heaven has now become a sprawling country of numerous prosperous kingdoms living in harmony. That is, until now.
When Archangel Gabriel is severely injured in an attempted murder in his home, the blame falls onto Archangel Uriel. After the other Archangels gather in council and decide that Uriel was indeed the culprit, they band together to strip him of his blessings and banish him from Heaven, throwing him down onto the earth below. Only Uriel knew the truth: that he was innocent, and whoever had tried to kill Gabriel was still at large.
No longer an angel and left with only the sliver of the power that he was able to retain, Uriel must adapt to life as a mortal. In the process, he must also figure out a way to scrape his way back up into Heaven before the culprit tries to kill again—possibly succeeding. Upon his arrival to Earth, Uriel is shocked to see that the real world wasn’t what he expected. In the century since God’s death, the mortal world had fallen into despair, riddled with hatred and depression, famine and war, nothing like the perfection of the kingdom he once ruled.
Through unlikely alliances, strange friendships, and the powers of one really upset ex-Archangel, can Uriel make it back to the gates of Heaven in time? Or will the murderer strike again before he can do so and bring the afterlife to its knees?
