Moundir Yale

Moundir Yale.

He had a story to tell.

His life began in the Chronos Kingdom. His life began in an era where nobles possessed total control over commoners. Not only did nobles monopolize wealth and knowledge, they were also strong enough to put an end to the harshest revolution from commoners. Knight Noble families produced knights, who possessed transcendental bodies.

Although knights can't use mana, breaking through the knight realm increased one's attributes significantly, and the higher the cultivation of knights, the stronger they became. However, knights were not strong just because of their bodies. They were strong, but they also trained in knight techniques, martial arts passed down from generations to generations, which helped them use their body potential to the utmost limits.

As for Magus families, they produced acolytes capable of wielding magic. It wasn't strange for acolytes who had reached the intermediate realm to be able to wipe out an army of average soldiers single-handedly.

Moundir Yale was not born in a noble family. He was the son of a farmer. One day, the local lord who had power over his village decided to increase taxes two-fold. Of course, the commoners could not afford to pay twice the amount they were already giving to the lord. Yet, they could not arm themselves and confront the mad lord. Thus, some tried to leave the village, but they were chased, and punished. As for the rest, they suffered from a famine.

A war then began. His village was massacred in front of his eyes.

Maddened by the sight he witnessed at the young age of 16, he was taken in by a wandering acolyte who wanted to take in a disciple. Moundir had talent. It wasn't very high, but merely sensing mana was a talent worthy of teaching in this age of declining magic. The acolyte was an old necromancer who passed down his heritage.

Moundir absorbed the knowledge like a sponge, studied harder than anyone and meditated as much as his fragile mind could handle. However, he quickly faced a barrier: resources and talent. His talent was not high, even by a lowly talented wandering acolyte. With a mediocre meditation technique, his magic power could not rise above 3 points. As for resources, he didn't have any clue as to where to search for them. With his commoner status, he didn't even know what magic was before his teacher taught him anything.

He searched a long time for a place to settle down, and across his journey, he found himself talented in tailoring. It was at this moment that it was the perfect cover to use his necromancer arts. Nobody would suspect a genius tailor to be an evil necromancer. He killed, and sewed great pieces of clothes, and killed again, each time growing his army of skeletons.

By the time he framed came in the Frozen City, he already had more than 450 skeletons. At this point, he knew that settling down in this city, where you could find Frozen Leaves capable of raising one's magic power, was the best plan he could think of. Even the Magus Family in the surroundings, the Moonfall Family, which was declining due to their bloodline path, was not aware of such treasures lying in this place.

In addition to the many frozen leaves, there were a lot of merchants coming in and out of this place. A few murders every month would go unnoticed, growing his army little by little.

Moundir had already struck a deal with the Mayor. He wanted to become a noble. And he surely planned on doing it with blood shed. He only needed skeletons to raise an army. The flesh, and lifespan of people, that he didn't need. He thus used blood rituals, forbidden rituals that could forcefully raise the vitality of humans, to strengthen the Mayor, his knights and some of his trusted soldiers. In exchange, the Mayor was loyal to him and would help him create alibis and even a scapegoat, the undertaker, to forever seal any investigations from the Moonfall family.

Based on his plans, it would only take one or two decades for his army of skeletons to reach 2000. By this time, the Mayor would also have an extremely strong army of knights and soldiers. This was surely enough for Moundir to march towards the Roche Barony, which was a declining family of knights, and take over the land and the castle.

The Porfield Kingdom was already facing the orc invasion. It couldn't care less about a minor noble territory falling in the hands of some evil necromancer. It simply lacked the resources to do so. It could only comission Magus or Knight families to do so. But Moundir had made connections to most noble territories and was not a nobody. In the eyes of most nobles, he was an extremely talented tailor. Moundir was often invited to parties and extravagant tea sessions. He had formed friendships with many nobles already. He knew that if he were to take over the Roche Barony, famous for its cruelty, ambition and lack of backing, most would turn a blind eye to his actions.

This was a plan which he created a long time ago. A plan that would take at least one decade to reach success.

But...

When Drake Moonfall entered his shop, his piercing gaze made him uneasy.
