The Key

Days after the event with the his sister. Kaelen focused mainly on his goal to acquire about the Dark Grimoire. He had less than two weeks to get his hands on it.

Meanwhile, everyone he tried asking about it, either denied not knowing it or having little knowledge about it.

From what he acquired; The Dark Grimoire belonged to an ancient sorcere, Ellora. Holding immense amount of magical power and powerful spells. It even contained the whereabouts of ancient weapons that were wielded by previous Monarchs. Apart from that...he had no knowledge of the Dark Grimoire.

'Fuck! Why can't I just get the information I need?' The young heir sat on his bed as thoughts raced through his head. He let out a frustrated groan, his gaze lingered on the ceiling of his room.

"Young Heir!" A voice called out from the other side of the room. It was Velma, one of the castle guards.

Kaelen was drawn out of his thoughts by the feminine voice.

"Who is it? And what do you want?" Kaelen replied with annoyance in his tone. He didn't want to be disturbed at the moment.

"It's Velma. You have some visitors at the castle gate." The guard spoke.

Kaelen's mood went from depressed to curiosity. He didn't know anyone in Vaeloria apart from his family and the castle staffs.

"What is their business at the castle?" The boy spoke, curiosity laced in his tone.

"Um...they said something about being the new tutors" the lady said, her voice soft but firm.

The young heir suddenly sat bolt upright. He immediately recalled asked his mother to enroll some tutors for him.

'They arrived earlier than I expected' Kaelen thought. A bit impressed by how quick the process took, at the same time curious. Hiring a magic teacher actually took at least a week, as they needed to be fully prepared for the job. The only reason Kaelen allowed the idea of hiring a magic teacher was to see if he'd get any information out of them in the whereabouts of the Dark Grimoire.

"May l let them in?" The feminine voice spoke out again.

"Yes. They may wait in the garden. I'll be there shortly." The young spoke.

The lady nodded affirmatively, leaving to fulfill his orders.

After a some time, Kaelen proceeded to the garden where he'd meet with his new tutors.

Kaelen got to the garden in a short time as he noticed two ladies sitting on a bench underneath a tree.

The young heir gradually observed the young ladies. They seemed no older than he was. Were they really the tutors his mom had hired? Kaelen had his doubts about the ladies.

One of the ladies noticed him walking towards them. She quickly informed her colleague. They both got up from their sitted positions.

"Greetings. You must be Kaelen Nightshade?" One of the ladies spoke as she greeted the boy.

Kaelen noticed a few things about the lady. She looked more beautiful than she did from afar. Kaelen was mostly taller than her, but that didn't have any neglecting effect on her beauty. Her pink ponytail stood, well styled. The dark robe which she wore seemed match the color of her eyes.

Kaelen continued to stare at the lady in admiration.

"My name is Melissa. My colleague here is known as Scarlett."

Kaelen turned his gaze to the quiet latter.She wore a dark robe that covered her entire figure, including her face. Kaelen couldn't get a good look at her face as it was covered by the shadow of the cloak she put on.

"Do you mind taking off your cloak? I would like to see your face more" The Young heir demanded.

The lady shivered a bit as she moved behind her colleague.

Kaelen was confused and surprised by her actions. Did she feel in unsafe with him or was it just because of another reason. He couldn't tell.

His gaze lingered on her for a moment before returning to the pink-haired beauty.

"Um.. forgive my colleague. She's a bit nervous around...unfamiliar people" Melissa explained.

Kaelen wasn't convinced with her answers, but chose not to pry any further.

"So you're the tutors my mom hired." Kaelen said, his tone neutral.

"Yes we are" the pink-haired beauty replied immediately.

"So tell me, what are your powers? What category of magic do you specialize in?" The boy asked, a bit of curiosity in his tone.

"Well I'm a witch, so I specialize in mostly nature and elemental magic" the young witch replied.

'A witch? Was she by any chance related to one of the most powerful covens in Vaeloria' Kaelen thought.

There were several covens in Vaeloria, but only few were placed at the top. NightWing, GoldenCrow, SilverRaid and DeepGuild-just to mention a few. These were one of the most powerful covens in Vaeloria. And if Kaelen remembered correctly; The Dark Grimoire was written by an ancient witch. Though little is known about her, she played a major role in the events of the First Void War.

If Melissa was a witch she could have some knowledge about the book he's been searching for.

"And what area does she specialize in?" Kaelen asked the pink-haired witch, relaying the question to the cloaked figure behind her.

"Magical combat" Melissa responded immediately.

"Does that mean she's a warrior?" Kaelen asked, his curiousity heightened. He wanted to know more about the Scarlett. He felt like she was hiding something, something important about herself. Kaelen couldn't place his finger on the issue. He felt like she was surrounded by a dark shady past.

"Yes, she's an El... elite warrior" Melissa stumbled on her words a bit.

Kaelen could tell that she was about to say something else, but instead hid it. Maybe some secret between the duo.

All that was the least of Kaelen's concern at the moment. He was more interested in the little witch. She might be the key to revealing one of the most powerful weapons in Vaelorian history.
