Chapter 16 Small Party (Part 2)

Chapter 16

Small Party (Part 2)

"Quite an… interesting party," Chisaki commented as he looked around.

"Kai," Izuku said in greeting as he looked at the yakuza member.

"Izuku," Chisaki replied. Eri looked at Izuku, a bit scared of him. She was still scared of Chisaki, and if Izuku knew him, then that meant he was probably someone to be scared of as well.

"Izuku, just how many people do you know that stand out like them?" Itsuka asked Izuku, confused for many reasons.

"Being Quirkless does wonders," Izuku said, his tone being a bit bitter from what everyone could tell. "So many wonders…" And a hint of sarcasm.

Chisaki merely nodded. "Anyways, I would like you to meet my adopted daughter-slash-niece," Chisaki said. "This is Eri."

"H-H-H-Hi," Eri greeted, a bit scared.

Kendo noted how shy Eri was, and stepped forward a bit cautiously. "Hi there Eri, I'm Itsuka Kendo. It's nice to meet you." Kendo held her hand out for a handshake. Eri was nervous and didn't take her hand.

"Go ahead, you need to be nice to people," Chisaki told Eri. "Don't force yourself though…" Izuku smiled at how much nicer he was towards Eri, since Izuku gave some advice to the yakuza member.

The girl still didn't take Kendo's hand, and shook her hand. "I don't want to make you disappear…" Eri mumbled out of fear.

The people around were confused. Only Izuku (due to his little trip through the multiverse) and Chisaki knew why. This caused Chisaki to sigh. "Alright Eri." He lightly patted the child on the head. "I'm sorry about her… she's just shy… and mentally scarred."

These drew some concerned looks from everyone as the child maintained her distance from everyone.

Izuku hummed as the party went on, and everyone casually talked and mingled with each other. He had also noted that Itsuka and Himiko were getting along pretty decently.

"Izuku," he heard his mother say, before he turned to look at her. She was smiling at him as she walked up to him. "I'm so glad you have so many friends here," she said to him with an honest smile.

Izuku couldn't help but smile back. He loved his mother a lot… and he was glad she didn't suspect a thing. He didn't like lying to her, but he knew it was a necessary evil. She wouldn't condone these actions of his.

"I'm glad I have this many as well," he admitted to her. "It sucks being Quirkless since that apparently defines how life works," Izuku told her, which made his mother sad upon hearing him say that.

"Izuku-" She began, before Chisaki walked up to them.

"Excuse me," Chisaki said as he interrupted them. The two Midoriyas looked at Chisaki. "...I need a little help with Eri, Izuku," he said to the teen.

Izuku nodded as he looked at his mom. "I'm sorry Mom, give me a moment," he said as he went with the member of the Yakuza. As they got out of his mom's earshot, Izuku looked at Kai. "What's wrong?"

"I'm trying to help Eri calm down since she's getting a bit anxious, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not doing a good job at it, especially since she hates me," the yakuza member admitted. "It's a shame to even admit that the girl hates me…"

"At least you can see that she hates you," Izuku said, which grew a small glare from Chisaki. "What, it's a good thing you can see that. Now you just have to make her like you."

"Doesn't help the situation," Kai said to Izuku, a bit annoyed.

Izuku shrugged it off as they approached Eri, who was sitting in a chair. She was sitting by herself, and was honestly looking very nervous. Considering her background with little to almost no human interaction, especially after the death of her father, Izuku was surprised she didn't have a meltdown already, or perhaps a mental breakdown.

"Hi there Eri-chan," Izuku said to Eri suddenly, scaring the child, and making her look at him. She was scared of him, despite him looking like a kind person. "My name is Izuku. Are you okay?" He asked her.

She shook her head, too shy to say a word. Izuku lightly hummed at that. From what he could tell, Eri had social anxiety. That, or she was too scared to even talk to another human being because of what happened with her mother.

"Will you talk with us if I give you something sweet?" He asked her.

"Y-Yes…" Eri said, still quite nervous and anxious.

Izuku smiled at her, with Kai being utterly baffled by Izuku's deal with her. He was more baffled when Izuku pulled a candy apple out of nowhere and gave it to her. Eri seemed intrigued by the candy apple. "If you make a mess with it, ask for a napkin," he said to her. "Kai picked out some nice clothes for you, and I don't think we'd want to get them dirty. You wouldn't be able to change out of them until you go home, and we wouldn't want to wear dirty clothes during a party, right?"

Eri got a bit scared by Izuku's tone. "Y-Yes…"

Izuku patted her on the head. "Shh… calm down. I won't hurt you. And Kai won't either… he knows what will happen if he does," Izuku said to her, although Kai was confused by that. What in the world could Izuku mean by that? He had a no killing policy.

Eri was confused. She thought Izuku was friends with Kai… her caretaker… Just who was he?

Izuku stood up and looked at Kai. "You need to bond with her, and treat her kindly, like a good father would treat their daughter. What you're lacking is that emotional embrace since you're a germaphobe. You will need to do things yourself, which involves cleaning, playing with her, cooking for her personally, and perhaps buying her a few things." Izuku then wrote down a number for Kai to take. "That is my mom's number. She can give you a few pointers on raising a child. Hell, she could in turn help babysit Eri," Izuku said. He stretched a little. "But she is your responsibility, which means you need to help her." Izuku began to walk away.

"You're acting like taking care of a kid is easy," Kai grumbled.

"And walking around is barely easy for me, because unlike you, I actually have scars on my body," Izuku retorted. "And they fucking burn…" He walked off. Eri looked at Izuku in awe… but still scared.

Just what kind of person was he?
