The Calling

Ezra Bringer was just a normal sixteen year old teenage boy, who like the rest of the teenagers at their peak age were trying to survive life as it is. Every morning Ezra right before going to school he would have to go and await in one of the longest lines to ever exist, the line for medicine.

Ezra's mother was diagnosed with leprosy out of nowhere, so she had to stop working and stay at home which meant no income. But at least the government delivered food to those diagnosed with leprosy, but it just wasn't enough.

But unlike most unbearable days, today out of all days was the worst day for Ezra or any other normal teenager would be facing. Today wasn't just his day, first of all he got the letter from his after school job that said the shop was being closed down since his boss and half of the stuff also contracted with leprosy, when it was finally time for him to pick up the medicine. He receives bad news.

"Sorry Ezra we just finished our last box" a nurse informed him.

"Are you kidding me?" He asked in disbelief.

Obviously he wasn't the only one who had received these bad news other people behind him murmured in anger " are you serious? Where else are we supposed to get medicine? Most of us can't afford it!" A riot breaks out and the unrest invaded the local clinic "please everyone stop!" The nurse tries to stop them but they just push her aside.

This meant that Ezra had to go and buy his mother's medicine which was being sold a secret black market called the Black Site, which by the way were not that cheap.

"That would be $300 Ezra my boy" the seller informs him.

"Oh come on Scott, $300?" Ezra stunned.

"Yep it just went up just right before you came" Scott said.

"You just opened" Ezra said.

"Hey business rules don't blame me" Scott said.

"But it's your business and you own it" Ezra tries to negotiate.

"Okay how desperate are you?" Scott asked.

"I'm so desperate I'm willing to marry one of your ugly daughters" Ezra replied.

"Even Mandy?" Scott surprised.

"The one with the bushy eyebrows and men's mustache?" Ezra regretting this decision already.

"Yes" Scott said.

"Fine" Ezra faced down as Mandy came down to greet him, who by the way already had a huge crush on Ezra and half of the boys in school.

"Hi Ezra, are you here to pick me up to school?" Mandy playing with her hair.

"Uh" Ezra looks at his watch "would you look at that I'm already late" just right before Mandy would say anything Ezra ran for the exit as fast as he can.

He wasn't lying when he said he was late because he was really late, and to make matters worse he was that he had a test that was going to begin in just about ten minutes and yet he was still far away from school.

He ran as fast as he could possibly run but with his bad day and bad luck, just when he was so close to make it to the door they closed the door. And the rule was if the door was closed, no one gets it so automatically he has failed this test which he studied for weeks.

Disappointed and not knowing what to do Ezra just sat down, then something strange happened beating drums rang. Ezra looked around but he didn't see no matching band coming in the school hallway, the drums kept playing but no one was there. Then he realized that maybe his ears were ringing then he rubbed them. Then the beating drums went silent.

School day came to conclusion thou that doesn't seem quite right but as it turned out half of the school faculty and students all somehow have contracted leprosy. No one could really try to explain this even the doctors themselves couldn't explain this even if they wanted too. This disease that was meant to be a tale in the bible has now taken over almost half of the human population.

This to other teenagers was a blessing in disguise this meant that there was not going to be school until further notice and they couldn't be transferred to other school's because of the leprosy situation, So Ezra returned home to his mother who was now beyond recognition her face was covered in red like she got exposed to,to too much sunlight. She was busy scratching herself.

"Hey mom we said no scratching remember, cause it will only get worse" Ezra stopped his mother.

"But it itches" his mom started to cry.

Ezra went to put his mom to bed then went to make her some food, just as he was about to finish and taking the food to his mom his ears screeched and it was so loud he dropped the food onto the ground.

"Are you kidding me" he said to himself.

Ezra tried to pick up the food that wasn't totally in ruins, but it was pointless he sighed in exhaustion. He managed to clean up then went to check up on his mom who was now sleep with a picture on her chest, Ezra went to cover her up and saw the picture was him still young running to his mom. Laughing and having a good time.

Ezra decided to take a nap right before he can make dinner, while on his nap which didn't take him long to take. The beating drums started again but this time they were low and high like a volume.

Ezra got up and his eyes were white like he was under a spell or something then he left his house, of course he wasn't alone other followed him same thing as him their eyes were also white. They all walked in rhythm, none didn't know what was going on it was like they were all dead zombies. Until they entered a golden gate.
