Informant

After waiting for over an hour and not getting any call back from his men, Zane decided that he would have to call it a night.

There was likely not going to be any evidence coming in that he needed to indicate or clear Bruce's name in the little mishap he was dealing with.

His men weren't going to stop looking by any means, the young mafioso was just going to stop engaging for the night and turn his attention to relaxing with his brother and drinking more.

Now that he had heard about the worst part his father was trying to do, he could relax a certain amount more. Both were bigger problems that he would likely get pulled into that would need to be handled differently.

"You know Julius, you're always warning me about what's going on in my non-existent romantic life, why don't you always talk about what's going on in yours?" Zane inquired as he shifted the conversation away from himself.

"What do you mean? There's nothing to tell about. I thought we went over this before." His younger brother laughed as he pulled out his packet of cigarettes.

He would have preferred a cigar but he hadn't thought to bring them with him that day.

"Really? You don't think that I would find if that is true or not?" Zane replied a hint of amusement.

"Considering I haven't breathed a word to anyone about anything, I find it rather hard to believe that even as good as you are about snooping through things you would find anything out." Julius replied as he held out the cartoon to his brother so that the other could take one if he desired. Zane rejected the offer politely however. He didn't want the nicotine to ruin the flavor of his drink tonight.

"I always have a way of finding things out even when you don't expect me to." He replied smugly as he flipped a picture on to the bar top in front of his brother.

His younger sibling might have always done a good job of hiding anything that he didn't want anyone else to find out about. Zane though was equally good at finding out what those secrets he wanted to keep hidden were.

There were very two times that Julius had managed to catch him off-guard with something that he had been able to keep a secret.

The photo wasn't of the best quality but it showed a man and woman standing rather close together. Her back was to the photo but half of his face was exposed and the light coming off the neon sign that they were standing in front of illuminated it just enough for anyone who knew Julius to be able to tell it was him.

Rather than being surprised like Zane had expected, his younger sibling simply grinned and shook his head as he pushed the photo back over to the other.

"I'm honestly surprised that you haven't been able to find anyone yet when your mind quickly flitters to relationships and sexually scandalous things the moment you see a photo such as this." He commented before tapping the picture with his pointer finger.

"The woman here that you're mistaking as someone I'm not a relationship with happens to be an informant of mine. One that has been away for a while actually."

"Informant for what exactly? It's rare that women would choose to work in that field." he mused as he looked at the photo again. He wasn't yet convinced that he was wrong but he would listen to what his brother had to say.

"She is a rare one actually. Very good at what she does which is why I was rather disappointed when she suddenly went off the radar." Julius agreed as he took another drink of his bourbon.

"Turns out though that the only reason why she had gone quiet in the first place was that she was trying to do some deep digging. Not to mention the fact that she had married someone rather influence within her circle of the mafia family that not everyone was thrilled about." Now that caught Zane's attention.

"Who are you talking about?" He asked glancing up from the picture to look at his brother intrigued.

"I Don't know if you remember the guy, he's the one with the bad scar on his face. ten or so years older than us rather tall and a bad attitude." He couldn't hide the surprised look on his face as his brother finished giving the description.

"How did she end up with someone like that? A girl like her doesn't seem like she would fit in well." to the young mafioso, she looked rather too pretty to be with the man his brother was talking about.

"Oh, a lot of people think that. But on the other hand, it seemed like it had less to do with romance and more as a move to get important information that would other be hard to obtain." His sibling further explained.

"She's not in a bad position though. I checked that already and she confirmed that it doesn't cause problems with her current relationship though he's the person that she's getting intel from."

"Is it supposed to be some kind of double betrayal? I didn't think that he was the kind of person who would easily fall for something like that." Julius shrugged his shoulders in response to that question.

"That isn't anything that I know about. I just know what she has told me and about the information that she has given me. She's actually the one who was able to inform me of father's plan to do the takeover."

"She's the one that you were too busy with the other night to stick around for when I asked you to come out for a day off?" He was finally starting to put the pieces together which his brother nodded his head to confirm.

"She's definitely one that is worth keeping around for a while." He remarked.

"If she can get ahold of information like, I don't think you're wrong there." Zane agreed as he looked at the picture again.

This was definitely someone that was worth keeping in their pocket and would potentially become a good aid to him when he wanted to put his own plan into motion.
