Chapter 39

Hours later, late at night, Xavier had finally come to visit Kats grave. He couldn't bring himself to come when everyone was there, knowing that he couldn't do anything besides shoot at Trident-Man. He wished he had power, something, anything… just so this wouldn't happen again. There was in reality nothing he could do, as he just took a knee, putting his hand on Kats gravestone

Xavier: "I'm so sorry that I couldn't help you."

He sniffled before breaking out into tears just thinking about her final moments once again.

Xavier: "No matter what, everything we've been through. How you showed me that I matter, I will always remember that for the rest of my life. You were, no… you are so important to me that I never wanted to lose you. I-"

He stopped, he couldn't think of anything more to say. He stood back up, beginning to leave as he walked the streets of tokyo. The floor was soaked with puddles as they reflected the neon lights of multiple signs. People were laughing, smiling, they had no idea what some are going through, but Xavier continued to feel one thing… lonely. Xavier had to walk multiple alleyways to get to his apartment and as he walked he could feel the presence of something… looking at him. He held his gun in his jacket pocket just being careful. He never knew what could happen around these parts of Tokyo, whether it be a criminal or a devil attack, but a voice called out deep in the alleyway.

???: "Alone, a feeling I know all too well"

The voice didnt sound human, it was rough and sounded scratchy.

???: "you" cough cough "don't have to be"

The thing revealed itself, it was… a devil, one covered in blood and on the brink of its own death. It stumbled around, trying to grip onto anything it could before slipping.

It sounded as if it was panicked, like this was the only way out of its death.

???: "together, we don't have to be alone. You want some sort of revenge huh? I can smell it!"

The being collapsed in front of Xavier's feet. Looking at his glasses, a perfect place to reside.

Xavier: "wh-what the hell are you!"

???: "The devil, of loneliness"

It seemed that loneliness would rather be trapped with a human than to be sent back to hell. This seemed rushed though… why would a devil want to become a hybrid this bad, and Xavier, he was desperate for a power that would kill Trident-Man. That Ryuki guy had that power and could control it… and he believed so could he. Xavier threw his ear ring at the devil as it gripped it in its broken down hands, the body began to be sucked into the frame of the glasses, overtaking it and destroying the metal. It was going to merge with Xavier, and become a hybrid. The devil's body was gone, and all that remained were wispy black glasses. A voice in his head told him to put it on, and as Xavier picked up the glasses and put them on his eyes the glasses pierced into his skin binding itself into his face. Images flashed in his head, of tridents stabbing down into him, it was in a place he had never seen before too, it was- HELL. What it seemed like, the trident devil had not only hunted down and killed loneliness in hell, but injured it heavily on earth, loneliness didn't care for Xavier, anyone in fact… but his revenge was what fueled him to do this. And so another voice called to him.

Rip, them off

Xavier did so, ripping the ear ring off his ear as a shadow-like substance surrounded his body becoming a cloak of armor that rose from his feet to his neck. A shrouded hood surrounded his head as a mask had covered the rest of it as well. Now, Xavier was no longer human… but a hybrid of himself and the devil of loneliness. A name is not yet known, but soon… he will make one for himself.
