Sebastian ran into his house, panting and sweating. He had just completed his daily quest, running 5 km, doing 50 push-ups and 50 squats. He collapsed on the couch, feeling like a dead body. He heard a ding sound and looked at his interface.

He smiled weakly. He had earned 50 exp points, which brought him closer to leveling up. He opened his status interface to check his progress.

He felt a surge of energy in his body, and his heartbeat slowed down. His hp increased by 15 points, which meant that 1 point in endurance gave him +5 in hp. He also felt stronger, and his muscles were less sore. He left his free skill point untouched for now. He wanted to save it for something special.

Suddenly, another notification popped up in front of him.

He gasped. He had completed a hidden quest, and the rewards were amazing. He quickly opened his inventory and took out the weapon and the skill book. The weapon was a gauntlet, black with purple edges. It was sharp and well-crafted, but not too flashy. He used his Analyse skill to check its status.

He put on the gauntlet and felt comfortable. It did not restrict his finger or wrist movement. It also boosted his strength and endurance by 5 and 2 points respectively.

The system said in its usual robotic voice, "You can directly equip weapons and armor from the inventory."

Sebastian nodded and put the gauntlet back in his inventory. He then equipped it directly from there. He did this a few times until he got the hang of it. He looked at the skill book. It was a thick book with a leather cover. It looked very old, and it had something written in an unreadable language.

He picked up the skill book and another interface appeared in front of him.

He knew that skills were divided into ranks, from E to SSS. No one in the known solar systems had a skill above rank S. He also knew that some skills required a minimum rank to learn, but this skill did not. It meant that even a normal person could learn it.

He selected "Yes" without hesitation. As soon as he clicked "Yes" book transforms in many tiny light materials that enters his body and without any warning, a large amount of data about close combat entered his mind. He gritted his teeth to endure the pain. It took him some time to digest all the data that had entered his brain. Then he smiled so wide that he looked like a freak. He had learned a new skill, and it was upgradeable. He used his free skill point to upgrade the Close Combat skill to rank D. Then another influx of information entered his mind. This was smaller than before, but it had more advanced moves and tricks to avoid certain situations in battle.

He felt a rush of excitement. He had just improved his combat abilities by a lot. He couldn't wait to test them out. But first, he had to take a bath and cook some food for himself. He was too excited after getting the rewards that he added sugar instead of salt in the food. He realized his mistake when he tasted it. He spat it out and threw it away. He had to settle for instant noodles that had no taste.
