Chapter 492: Who is the Hardcore Tough Guy? (Part 1)

In the eastern suburbs of New York, the air is fresh and the scenery appealing due to its considerable distance from the bustling city center.

From a municipal planning perspective in America, this place should be considered a town - but unlike most people's impression of a small town, this is actually another wealthy area of New York, or rather, this is the real wealthy area, with land prices even higher than certain parts of Manhattan.

The living environment here is quite good, with a long history and well-equipped facilities. More importantly, there is a very decent convalescence home here.

Borton Sanatorium was originally constructed during America's reconstruction period. It underwent its first renovation when it was purchased and revamped by a wealthy businessman during World War II. It was completely demolished at the height of the Cold War, but was rebuilt after the Cold War ended.

In modern times, real estate developers, seeking to raise the property values in the suburbs of New York, have given this historic sanatorium a thorough overhaul, turning it into a modern convalescence home.

Before, the owner appeared to be a common crude oil tycoon but was actually in fact employed by the Russian Federal Security Bureau, or commonly known as the KGB.

After a sweep against all the KGB in the vicinity of New York due to the Hydra incident, the tycoon was repatriated to Russia and his assets frozen. However, it now has a new owner and has transformed into the new Arkham Sanatorium.

The original hospital was built quite early and underwent several renovations along the way. After the last major renovation, with world-class convalescence facilities added and with its pleasant natural environment and convenient transportation to New York, property developers took advantage of these conditions and built a villas resort for the wealthy around the sanatorium, common known as the Weekend Villa Region.

Arkham Sanatorium owns baseball and tennis courts, a small golf course, a park with a walking trail and a pond, a music and drama center and a yoga center, as well as all medical facilities each sanatorium should have. Since Shiller has become the owner, a legal mental health treatment center is being constructed.

In the office of the newly rebranded Arkham Sanatorium, Shiller is sitting on the sofa by the window, overlooking the view out of the floor-to-ceiling window.

The office is on the 6th floor of the administrative building of the sanatorium with a broad view, and there's a small park owned by the sanatorium downstairs. At the moment, several parents are playing with their children on the lawn.

Some people may ask, isn't this private property of the sanatorium? How are people other than patients allowed to enter? But in fact, these parents are "patients", or rather, members of the sanatorium.

After Shiller took over the sanatorium, the system here became more like a club; as long as you are a member here, you can use the amenities free of charge. Not only that, a watersports center and a shopping mall are being built on the western plot along with the mental health treatment center.

While Shiller was basking in the sun, dozing off with his eyes half-shut, suddenly, the office door was knocked. A nurse came in and said, "Dr. Rodriguez, you have a visitor."

"A visitor, did he make an appointment?"

"No, but he said his name is Nick Fury."

"Even if his name was George Washington, he'd still have to make an appointment..."

Just then, hurried footsteps and another nurse's yell came from outside the door, "Wait! Sir! You can't just barge in, we require appointments, sir..."

When Nick Fury squeezed into the room through the door, the two nurses were pushed outside. Shiller helplessly stood up from the chair, but Nick strolled in and nonchalantly plonked himself into the sofa, and then started to observe the room.

It had to be said, the infrastructure of this sanatorium was impeccable. Its decor was designed in the popular modern American style, with simple and smooth lines, spotless tile floor, large bay windows wide open and the setting sun shining into the room, creating a comfortable and quiet atmosphere.

But the first words from Nick's mouth shattered the serenity as he said, "I'm planning to revamp S.H.I.E.L.D."

Shiller sat across the sofa. He pulled out a cigar box from the draw of the coffee table. They made themselves comfortable, puffing away on their cigars. Shiller leisurely leant back on the sofa and said, "I thought you would have done this earlier."

"Before that, you look really relaxed? Your vacation must have been very successful."

Shiller laughed, and Nick raised an eyebrow. He had never seen Shiller with such a genuine smile. He heard Shiller ask, "Do you know what's the happiest thing in the world?"

"What is it?"

"It's watching other people work, and do you know what is happier than watching other people work?"

"What is it?" Nick obligingly carried on the banter.

"It's watching people do the work they're totally reluctant to do. Do you know what's happier than that?" Shiller continued.

"Watching people do work they're totally reluctant to do, and the only reward they get is what they hate the most. Not only that, they worked none stop for two weeks, almost dropping dead, haha!"

Hearing Shiller's laughter, Nick couldn't help but shiver. He could tell, someone has had a very unlucky vacation due to Shiller's break.
