Chapter Five, Taking Qohor

Kurt Helborg observed the people of Qohor that went past him. Some gave him look of curiosity due to the strange armour that he wore. Some, however, gave him a wary look, one that came to no surprise as it mainly came from the many mercenaries currently reciding inside of Qohor.

Despite the stoic countenance he showed to the people and his own men. Kurt himself has his own internal issues. Mainly coming to terms with his own death during the End Times. It's not like he is indignant, however. His death was glorious in the eyes of Sigmar. Succumbing to his injuries after slaying many Chaos followers.

Now, he is alive again, in an unknown land that not even his former Emperor—Karl Franz—had known. Not to mention following a new lord that is mysterious to him, Ethan Albrecht.

"Grandmaster Helborg," the voice of Leonidas' broke Kurt from his musing. He looked to his right. Where the Spartan King are standing beside him. "My Lord had told me the... Tale about you. It is an honour to meet another formidable warrior."

Kurt stared for awhile before he broke into a laugh, "indeed. Lord Ethan has told me the story regarding you, King Leonidas. Of a warrior who held against thousands of men with only three hundred men at his disposal."

"Well," Leonidas chuckled. "While it is true that there are only three hundred Spartans that fought at Thermopylae. There are many Peloponnesians and Lacedaemonians sent with us as well. Though, what happened at the battle, we both know that."

Both are warriors at heart. Staking their life to protect the country they loved. Though they're now far from home and from everything they had known. Both had sworn to protect their new home. Even if it means dying again.

Kurt and Leonidas knew what would be coming next. Taking the city of Qohor would prove to be difficult. Especially when considering how many people they would have to fight. Still, if anything, both Kurt and Leonidas is excited at the prospect of fighting a real army. Leonidas already knew how fierce the Golden Company is since he has participated in the Battle of Qohor himself. But Kurt only heard it from Ethan.

For now, he would wait for the command to start their operation. No use rushing everything after all.

----

These past few days are filled with nothing but preparations for the upcoming battle to take over Qohor. Ethan of course did not stay idle. The last two days had been used to summon the rest of his rewards after successfully defending Qohor. Another company of Reiksguards, a company of Empire Greatswords, and replaced the fallen Spartans and Rangers of Ithilien that had fallen in battle. He had contemplated in summoning an Empire Handgunner company, but refrained to do so.

Another thing he had done is to get used with his power. Kurt and Leonidas helped him in that regards. Whenever the two are free, they would help Ethan by sparring with him.

Meanwhile, Ethan tasked Noriel to scout the city of Qohor for any gaps in defenses. The only thing they need to take caution of are the Golden Company and the Unsullied since unlike the rest of the mercenaries. The Golden Company and the Unsullied are a force to be reckoned with. Since those two are trained like a professional military and will be quite dangerous if underestimated.

Luckily, however, Noriel had found some ways to go around the Unsullied protecting the main entrances towards the mansion complex where the magisters are living. A pathway that is known only to the smallfolk. A gaps in their defenses that would prove fatal to the current ruler of Qohor.

For the Golden Company, it would be quite a gamble. Since who knows if the Golden Company would just stand by and watch or intervene in the takeover. After all, the Golden Company are paid by the magisters of Qohor to stop the Dothraki from taking over the city, not stopping the Mondlicht mercenary company from doing so.

"Everything is ready, My Lord." Noriel stated. Her bright blue eyes staring right at Ethan. "We will start when you say the word."

Ethan did not reply immediately. But instead he stared at the blueprints of Qohor. Making sure everything is accounted for before finally looking up. His eyes met Noriel's before a small smile graced his face.

"Then we shall do so soon, comrade."

----

To be an Unsullied is to follow his master's every order. When he was told to guard the gate. He would, naturally, do so. Standing by for a long time is nothing when compared to the hellish training he had went through. His eyes scanning any passerby should they possess any threat towards his master.

His eyes then caught the sight of a man. If he remembers correctly, it was the leader of the Mondlicht company, Ethan Albrecht. The man stood at an impressive seven feet tall. With muscles defined enough as if it was carved by God himself.

"Halt!" He commanded. And Ethan did exactly what he is told. His piercing blue eyes staring straight at the guard. "What is your purpose here?"

"I have come to bring a message for the magisters." He answered. The two Unsullied did not notice that Ethan had curled his fist.

"And what is the message?"

Ethan did not answer verbally. But instead grabbed the guard's neck all of a sudden and gave it a squeeze. It all happened too fast before the other guard could realize what had just happened before Ethan threw a punch. Denting the helmet the Unsullied guard wore and killing him in one hit.

The gate then opened, courtesy to a small team of Rangers of Ithilien that Noriel led covertly. As soon as it opened, a small contingent of a hundred men comprised of fifty Reiksguard and fifty Greatswords quickly dashed in. Clashing against whoever are trying to stop them. Mostly those who do are the Unsullied that are nearby and can respond faster.

Sadly however, while the Unsullied is a disciplined group of warriors that can perhaps stand toe-to-toe against the army of the Westeros. Being an eunuch hampered their growth significantly due to the lack of testosterone, which is important for soldiers because it would cause many things such as; reduced bone and muscle mass, a decrease in energy levels, and an increase in body mass.

So, even if Unsullied would be obedient towards their master because of their decreased sexual drive, they would be an inefficient soldiers individually. Especially when they're facing Reiksguard and Greatswords. People who are trained by the Empire of Man to fight against monsters without a shred of fear. Though it doesn't mean the Unsullied can be looked down upon. Since the Unsullied fights better in formation instead of individually. Almost resembling how the old armies in Greek fight, using phalanx formations and all that.

Though the fifty Reiksguards are dismounted, these Reiksguards Swordsmen are still a force to be reckoned with, same as the Greatswords as they quickly clashed to the still disorganized Unsullied. Their swords that are of higher quality thanks to the dwarven blacksmiths quickly made easy work of the Unsullied that wore much lighter armor than the Reiksguards and Greatswords.

Ethan followed not too far behind. Accompanied by Kurt Hellborg and Leonidas themselves. He gave the two a silent command. A raise of his left hand, and the two quickly spread out to further sow chaos and confusion towards the Unsullied or whatever mercenaries that tried to stop them. Of course, the two would not be alone, as each would brought their own men with them.

Some Unsullied tried to stop Ethan. But he's proven to be too much for them to handle. A swipe of his golden hammer and two of them are sent flying towards a wooden cart. He dodged a spear thrust, before his left hand grabbed the shaft, pulling the man closer before headbutting him. Dazed, the Unsullied can only await his fate as Ethan smashed his chest with Ghal Maraz.

"HARYROS MAREN!" Ethan bellowed out. His voice thunderous and are heard throughout the mansion complex. "COME OUT NOW!"

The door on the second balcony of the biggest mansion opened. From within, Haryros walked out. Anger, confusion, and fear etched clearly on his face.

"What is the meaning of this, Ser Ethan!?" He shouted. As loud as he can to try and show his dominance as the magister of Qohor. "To stab me in the back after everything we've given to you!? Are the golds not enough!? Is the women not to your satisfaction!?"

Ethan scoffed. His eyes moved from Haryros to the now organized Unsullied along whatever mercenaries that are willing to try their luck in stopping him. Luckily for Ethan, no Golden Company members are seen. He does however see Myles Toyne watching from the sideline. Waving his hand when Ethan saw him and smiling amicably. As if the situation is nothing to be concerned about.

Instead of answering Haryros. Ethan stared the magister. Slowly, he lifted his golden hammer up in the air for everyone to see.

"MONDLICHT INVICTA!"

With that, the forces of the magisters' and Mondlicht's clashed. Swords against spears and shields against shields. The fighting is fierce but everyone could clearly see the difference between the two forces.

While the Unsullied themselves is organized, the same couldn't be said for the mercenary companies that decided to help defend the magisters. They quickly fell down like wheat before a scythe. The ferocity the Reiksguards showed frightened them too as some of them decided that their life is more worth it than a few more golds. Which prompted them to run.

But, before they could exit the gate, their bodies are turned into pincushion by the Rangers of Ithilien. Killing any that tried to run away as well shooting at the one that are fighting down there.

Slowly, the battle turned into the Mondlicht's favor. The mercenaries are mostly dead or ran away, while the Unsullied numbers are slowly getting thinned away as they doesn't know the concept of running away. The Spartans soon joined the battle too. Charging the enemy flanks and entrapping them from both sides. Further plummeting the enemies' morale.

Haryros, seeing that the battle is against his favor, quickly went back inside to gather his things and tried to escape. The remaining Unsullied tried to stall the Spartans that had gone inside the mansion. But are quickly outmatched, though Haryros managed to escape his mansion and outside of the protective walls of the mansion complex, he soon realize that the city of Qohor itself is embroiled in the sound of battle.

He could see a company of Reiksguard on their warhorse clad in heavy armor charging towards an Unsullied battle line. The two forces clashed. The heavy armor of Reiksguards' warhorse proven to be more durable than they looked and are effective as battering rams. Crashing against the Unsullied as the Reiksguards Knights impaled the Unsullied with their lances.

Then, another sight of the Greatswords and Spartans fighting side by side. Men carrying swords as big as their body and swinging it easily. Cleaving men into two as the Spartans covered the Greatswords' back using their round shield.

He swallowed his own saliva and tried to make a run for it. But crashed against Ethan already standing in his way. Holding the bloodied Ghal Maraz. A smirk on his face as he slowly walked towards the magister trying to back away from him.

Without saying anything further, Ethan swung his hammer to Haryros' head. Crushing it into a pulp just like he did to the Khal of Dothraki during the siege.

"THE CITY IS OURS!"
