PARTS OF THE PACK

POV. ISABELLA

My family and I are part of the 'Lunar Moon Pack' . We are mostly used to help train the wolves, which I love doing, but as a 'woman' in this pack they want us to have babies and look pretty, but I've dreamed of being a soldier.

Growing up watching all the men fight was my TV, I loved helping and fighting, but the pack master didn't like it so I would always get punished.

He would always make sure they left marks, but I liked it. I would always call them my battle scars, which made them angrier.

But after a while the council just told the pack master to let me fight, by doing that they thought I would fall on my ass or get scared and go back.

But after proving myself, they somewhat respect me, the young Boys not so much.

I lay on the grass waiting for the young group of wolves, Miya, one of my friends and sister, ran up to me and started talking her head off "Izzy...Izzy...Guess what is happening?" I look over, waiting for her to keep going, "The alpha king and his son are coming into town." Miya says smiling, "For what?" I say sitting up, Miya sits up and says "They are picking soldiers for the royal army.", once those words left her mouth I jumped up screaming in joy, she laughed and got up and I hugged her "Thank you for telling me, we can talk about it later ok." I say letting her go, "Of course." she says walking back to the village, smiling and excited. She has been my biggest supporter ever since we were little and when I found out I was adopted.

I've been waiting to be selected since I got to top rank, they've pushed me down so much and I just want to be more than just a women in this pack to do more and see more, I don't want to train pups all my life, I wanna fight, I want it all, everything life has to offer.

After training, which ended at eight thirty at night, I grabbed my bag and headed back to the village. I decided to take the shortcut through the meadow. A few kids circled me.

"What do you want, Jones?" I say as I put my bag down knowing he wants to start shit with me again. "I just want to know why you think you're good enough to be trained" He laughs looking at his friends to continue "You think you can be a soldier, you really must be stupid." He pushes me back and three other boys from behind me grab me. "Just because you killed one vampire doesn't mean you deserve to be with us." He says punching my stomach, then my face. He stops and grabs my face to look at him, "I'm going to make your life a living hell, you got that." He says as he punches my face again.

Honestly this is a normal thing, other kids have done this before and I guess Jones has finally manned up to face me, but still he's a coward, he brought his little friends, he knows he can't take me all by himself.

By now my face is covered in blood, my lip is busted, I'm mostly going to be covered in bruises tomorrow, he punches me again and I spit out some blood on his face and with blood coving my teeth I smile, knowing it will piss him off, he goes in to punch me again but as he did I kicked him back, I lean my head back headbutting the boy who was behind me, he grabbed his face in pain, probably because I broke his nose, I then Twist my arms out from the other two boys, they came to me ready to fight so I took them on.

Once I was done with the two boys that were knocked out on the ground, the one I broke his nose ran off. As soon as I stepped to him, Jones looked up at me and tried getting up, but I got on top of him and started punching him till he was knocked out. I see the two boys slightly waking up, I turn to them "Tell your buddy, next time it will be worse, 'Got it.'" I say in a mocking way getting up and grabbing my bag as I walk back.

I get back to the house and its late, my family are in bed so I go to the sink and grab a rag and clean my face off, after I grab my plate from the microwave eat, when I finish I wash my plate and go to my room and get undressed, I walk to my bathroom and get in the shower.

I get out and dry off, I clean my face and brush my hair, I go put on a tank top and some shorts and lay in bed, I text my friend 'I'll talk in the morning and mom may not be happy once she sees me.' I put my phone on the charger and put it on the side table and closed my eyes and fell asleep.

Next Morning

I woke up and checked my phone to a billion messages saying, 'Why?' and 'Girl what happened, Jones got beat up, text me asp.' I text back saying 'Tell u later' and get up, I head to my bathroom and wash up and get ready, I get dressed and go out to the kitchen and Miya gets up from the kitchen table as she sees me and walks to me.

"What the hell happened?" Miya said as she grabbed my face, my mom turned from the stove to me as Miya said that and once she saw me she stopped cooking and almost ran to me grabbing my face. I tried to pull back but her and Miya held me so tight I couldn't move.

"Did Jones do this to you?" My mother said in an angry voice as her eye turned black, knowing her wolf was out I said "Nope, I just trained too hard yesterday." Hoping she would drop it, she rolls her eyes as she lets go of my face and her eyes go back, she goes back to cooking, Miya didn't believe me and dragged me to go sit down, as I sat down my dad looked at me shaking his head knowing I'm lying, he would call me stubborn for it, but he knows good and well he is the same way.

I Go to training and after I'm done I head back and wash up and Miya decides to drag me downtown to shop, we go into my shoe store where I get my boots. We waited for the clerk to get back with the boots I ordered, Miya and I played around the store, giggling and laughing. I tripped back and bumped into someone, I turned to apologize, but he said "Don't you have eyes to see where you're going or is your face too swollen to see?" I walked away to the Clerk who just walked out with my shoes. As I pay he walks up to the desk. I leave as I step on his foot wiping dirt on them and I smile.

We got back to the village and I put my boots on, "Want me to join?" Miya asked me, "You want to run seven miles?" I say standing up, "Yeah...No." Miya says stretching out on the bed, I laugh and roll my eyes as I walk out the room.

After running about six and half miles I stop near a pond and look at the view. I smelled a heightened scent, I knew it was a mate scent, I kept looking at the water.

A mate is a man who thinks he has a right to a women because fate told him that she or he is theirs, and that's the last thing I wanted, they are so over powering over women and it's disgusting, I want to be free and live a life full of adventure and war, I wanna be strong and be known for something. I don't wanna be forgotten as someone who gives into the society and is an obedient woman. like seriously we aren't living in the middle ages anymore and it's just tiering and sickening to have to fight your society. I will never stand behind a man, I would rather a man stand behind me.

I smelled the scent behind me, I slowly turned and saw the man from the store whom I bumped into. He rolls his eyes, men wolves can scent their mates before girl wolves, so I bet he was waiting for this, "Don't tell me you're following me." I said, crossing my arms, "Why would I be following you?" he said as he walked past me, I roll my eyes and see him continue walking around the pond, I walked back to the village ignoring the encounter, as I got to the village Miya runs up to me out of breath and sweaty "He is here! He's actually here!!" Miya screams, "who's here?" I asked, "The king." Miya said squealing, once she said that my heart dropped, I heard the pack master call me and I knew they were doing the lineup. Honestly I've been waiting for this day, so why can't I move.
