Status Window

Just as the name implied, it was an art academy. The academy was very popular, and a lot of well-known artists and even sculptors graduated from the academy.

However, the academy wasn't in Lontheon, which was the country Blake lived in, but in Norlin, another country, located in the northern part of the world.

They were driving to the airport, having prepared all the documents, and all that was left was for Blake to take the flight.

However, things took a different turn when the sky suddenly darkened and flesh-eating zombies were unleashed on the earth.

Instead of today being his happiest day, it ended up turning into the darkest for not just him, but everyone around the world.

Thinking about it now, his parents never wanted to leave for the airport today, in fact, they opposed him leaving the country, saying he was too young to travel out.

He was the one who kept persuading them, he kept pestering them, saying that it was his dream and that was what he wanted.

Of course, his parents later gave in to his request, and they booked a flight for today.

If only he hadn't pestered them about it, if only he had just up on going to the art academy, then his parents wouldn't have left home that day, and they would have never been killed by zombies.

Blake clenched his fists tightly, to the point where his knuckles turned white.

His eyes suddenly widened slightly, and he sprung up from the ground.

He ransacked his pockets, frantically searching for a white piece of paper.

After some seconds, he managed to find a small piece of white paper hidden deep in his pockets.

The paper was crumpled up, due to all the running he did from the zombies. He tried to straighten it the best he could, and then held it up in front of him, staring at it like it was the greatest treasure on earth.

Drawn on the paper, was the image of a beautiful family—his family, standing in front of a huge mansion with beautiful flowers adorning the background.

Despite the flowers making the drawing look somewhat childish, the image still looked very beautiful and realistic.

Blake lightly touched the drawing with his fingers, feeling his eyes get misty with every second until tears started streaming down again.

'I shouldn't think too much about it… I should try to face my current goals. Brooding won't solve anything…' Blake thought, his head facing the ground.

Just then, he remembered the weird notifications that were flashing through his eyes, moments before he lost consciousness.

He also remembered a weird notification appearing in front of him, saying something about a system-master, and something about the mana arriving on the planet.

He raised his head and stared off into space, trying to remember what it was.

"Yeah. Status Window…" He mumbled, and almost immediately, a couple of tabs and characters appeared in front of his eyes.

"So this is it… my status…" Blake mumbled, staring at the weird set of tabs and characters that were in front of him.

It looked very similar to a game. Although he doesn't play video games that much, he was still familiar with terms like "Level", "Class", and "Title".

The numbers in front of his mana, intelligence and magic power were a lot higher than the ones in his other stats, and though he didn't know why, he guessed that it wasn't a bad thing.

His eyes drifted down to the [status points] that were at the bottom, and a weird glint flashed through his eyes.

One thing he noticed was that the numbers shown on each stats were a lot more than they were the first time he checked.

The first time, this [Status Window] appeared in front of him, his level was one and most of his stats weren't even up to ten.

Back when he was busy slaying those zombies, he faintly remembered a couple of notifications flashing across his eyes, with messages saying he had leveled up and his stats and increased.

He could tell that whatever this system was, it wasn't fake, but instead, it was very real.

Back then, when he was killing those zombies, he could feel his strength rising with every zombie he killed. They're a weird transparent orb that flowed from their bodies into his, increasing his strength and his level.

"Status points… so like points for status. So basically, points I can use to increase my status…?" Blake mumbled to himself.

He then decided to test out his theory.

"Add 10 status points to endurance." He muttered. Immediately, he asked the system to add the points to the [Endurance] stat, a notification appeared in front of him.

[+10 Status points added to endurance]

Blake nodded his head slightly in approval, feeling the weird refreshing energy course through his body again.

The reason he chose to first allocate status points to his endurance stat, wasn't just because he felt like it, but because he noticed that his endurance was the lowest out of all his stats.

"Status window." He muttered, and immediately, a set of tabs displaying his stats flashed across his eyes.

Just as the notification said, his endurance indeed increase by ten points, and the amount of status points left with him were only fifty.

Blake scratched the side of his head, feeling slightly puzzled on how he would distribute the rest of the status points.

If he included [Mana] and [Health] stats, he practically had eight stats in total, however, the amount of status points in his disposal were only fifty, meaning he couldn't just distribute ten to each of them, or his status points would finish.

"Add ten status points to [Health]." He muttered.

"Add ten status to [Agility]."

"Add ten status points to [Stamina]."

"Add twenty status points to [Strength]." Blake said, finally exhausting all his status points.
