Chapter 33
Jai steps aside so I can pass, then shuts the door behind my back. I turn to face him, ready to deliver one of my carefully thought-of speeches, but I can't. Can't utter a single word, tongue-tied and voiceless as I am. What I can and do, instead, is cup his face in my cold hands and glue my mouth to his, the kiss as trespassing and abusive as my being here after all I've done, the hurtful things I said. But Jai doesn't falter; he clings to me, mouth parting to let me in. We kiss with as much ardour as we did last night, the only difference is that I can fully indulge in it, this time; I can fully experience it.
