Introductions

We decided to line up in a circle, facing each other, for introductions. Well, everyone except Byakuya, because he walked out of the gym and left us all behind. I had the feeling he was used to doing things his own way, and that he didn't think much of the rest of us.

We all decided to state our names, our Ultimate Talent, and anything else we felt might be helpful. I decided to start introductions myself.

"I'm Shurinku Kansatsu, the Ultimate Psychologist. Shuri for short. Let me know if there's anything on your mind, and I'll do my best to help address it with you." I then took several steps back, indicating that I was done speaking.

A boy dressed in white, with medals all over the left side of his chest, spoke next. Well, half-spoke, half-shouted. "I'm Kiyotaka Ishimaru. People call me the Ultimate Moral Compass. Let's work together on this!" He paused for a moment, then added "You can call me Taka for short, if you wish!" He then walked over and stood next to me, on my right. Confident, but not arrogant, and seemingly willing to work with anyone and everyone, as long as he has a say in things.

The girl with the oni horns spoke next. "I-Buki Mio-da! Who is that? That's me, Ibuki Mioda! I'm the Ultimate Musician, and I LOVE the guitar! Hi everyone!!" She waved enthusiastically at everyone, then stood to my left. Cheerful, loud (ok, VERY loud at times), but didn't seem to be a troublemaker.

A...boy robot?...decided to speak next. "I am K-One B-Zero, the Ultimate Robot! But please, address me as Keebo. And yes, although I am a robot, I have a very advanced AI, and I will NOT tolerate robophobia!" Ok, so this guy, or robot, or whatever seems nice, but has a definite inferiority or persecution complex. Maybe I can help him with that.

A guy in a yellow outfit and a beanie, with bright pink hair, spoke up almost immediately. "Kazuichi Soda, Ultimate Mechanic, here. Nice to meet ya! Oh, and Keebo, if you need any repairs, let me know. I'm a pro with repairing things!"

"Please, don't call me a 'thing'!" Keebo half-responded, half-complained.

A cackling laughter greeted our ears next. A blonde girl, very top-heavy, spoke next. "I'm the one and only gorgeous girl genius whose good looks and golden brain will get us all out of here! Miu Iruma, the Ultimate Inventor! Oh, and Keebo, don't let that buckethead fool you. If you need any..." She chuckled a little. "...Special care, I'll be happy to do whatever you want done to you! Or to me, for that matter..."

"Please, I don't need you to do anything to me," Keebo responded.

Soda added, "Yeah, keep your foul mouth to yourself!"

Miu flinched and hunched her shoulders. "Foul...mouth? I..."

Soda cut her off, after staring at Miu for longer than what seemed comfortable. "Know what? It's fine. Keebo, if you need any help with maintenance or whatever, I'm sure either of us will help you."

I shook my head and quickly assessed the three of them. Miu is a foul-mouthed perv, but stand up to her and she cowers. Soda seems to be a bit of a perv too, but judging from the wrench in his belt, he clearly considered himself a handyman, and didn't seem arrogant of his skills.

A brunette girl, nearly popping out of her blouse, spoke up next. "Yo! Name's Akane Owari. I'm the Ultimate Gymnast! Nice to meet ya! I hope they've got some really good food here!"

Another brunette, also nearly popping out of her tank top, replied "Oooh, you like food too? My name's Aoi Asahina, but my friends just call me Hina. I'm the Ultimate Swimmer, but I enjoy all sports, really. Oh, and donuts. I LOOOOVE donuts!"

"Really, huh? You love food AND physical activity? I think we'll be the best of friends!" Akane and Hina ran towards each other and hugged, then sat down together at the bleachers and started talking eagerly. They both seemed eager to make friends, and were both top-heavy, athletic, and had a shared interest in food, so it seemed natural that they'd make quick friends.

Taka turned his direction towards the remaining students who had yet to identify themselves. "Alright, who's next for introductions?!" he half-asked, half-shouted. I assumed that's how he always talked, as he didn't seem agitated or in a hurry.

The girl dressed like a maid took a step forward, hands clasped in front of her. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kirumi Tojo, the Ultimate Maid. Please let me know if my services are needed. I will assist with anything requested of me, within reason." She curtsied, then stood next to Taka, hands clasped in front of her again. I didn't detect much emotion from her, and her tone was even. From her posture, particularly her face and eye positioning, she seemed used to being instructed on what to do.

The bandaged-up girl in the nurse outfit nervously stepped forward, seemingly almost afraid to meet our eyes. Her hair was a mess, and was at different lengths, despite being overall long. It looked like a toddler had taken scissors to random parts of her hair. Her lip trembled a bit, then she quietly spoke. "M-m-my name is M-M-Mikan Tsumiki. I'm...the Ultimate Nurse. I...I hope we can all get along."

Taka raised his head. "I couldn't hear that last part. What did you say?"

Mikan flinched back and looked about to cry. "I'm...I'm sorry. Please don't hurt m-m-me!"

It was Taka's turn to be taken aback. "What? No, no, I never wanted to hurt you. I just had trouble hearing that last sentence."

Mikan swallowed hard, then repeated herself. "I...I-I hope we can all get along."

"Thank you, Mikan. I hope we all get along too." Taka gave her a soft smile, and Mikan returned it, then quickly stepped aside, by herself. She seemed to have a major inferiority complex, and had all the markings of emotional abuse. I actually felt bad for her, and made a mental note to try to speak to her later.

The girl with the sword spoke up next. "Peko Pekoyama. Ultimate Swordswoman. It is nice to meet you all, as well. And, by the way, the sword on my back is my bamboo one, so be not afraid." She seemed sure of herself, confident, but otherwise almost devoid of emotions.

A boy dressed in white, with a checkerboard scarf, decided to speak next. "I'm Kokichi Oma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader! I lead an evil, secret, worldwide organization! Also, I'm a liar." Oh, great. A pathological liar who was likely crazy. I figured his Ultimate ability was true, but this was gonna be someone to keep a VERY sharp eye on.

A white-haired boy spoke up next. "I'm Nagito Komaeda. I'm the Ultimate Lucky Student. I got into Hope's Peak Academy through a random drawing of non-Ultimate students. My life has been a see-saw of extreme luck and extreme misfortune, hope and despair. Someone like me MUST be lucky, though, just to be in the mere presence of Ultimates like all of you! If there's anything I can do, anything at all, please let me know!" Lovely, another crazy person, this one with an inferiority complex. His eyes screamed "I'm batshit crazy!", and his posture screamed "I'm miserable and worthless". I may have to talk to him as well, but I might need to be careful.

A girl with VERY long, almost ankle-length pigtails walked up, chin up, posture almost mechanically straight. She spoke very plainly, "Maki Harukawa, Ultimate Assassin. And no, I have no interest in killing anyone here, so don't start with me on that." Uh-oh. A professional killer, with an almost unreadable expression on her face, even more so than Peko or Kirumi. She didn't give me the impression that she was a friendly sort, but she didn't seem outwardly dangerous. She seemed more of a "leave me alone and I'll leave you alone" type. That said, I'd have to watch her too, but as an Ultimate Assassin, I doubt I'd be able to keep hidden from her.

Only one person remained; a hulking boy with wild long hair and glasses. He wore a suit, but was barefoot, which struck me as very odd. He didn't seem to be paying attention to us, and was staring at the ground instead. Taka seemed annoyed, and addressed this man-boy. "Ahem, you're the only one who has yet to introduce yourself. Please do so now!"

The man-boy jumped, as if startled, then looked around. "Huh? Oh, right, introduction. Gonta's name is Gonta Gokuhara. Gonta's talent is Ultimate Entomologist. Gonta's goal is to become true gentleman!" Ok, so this guy's a hulk, speaks in the third person, and despite his profession, didn't seem particularly bright. Still, he seemed friendly, and he seemed eager to...learn how to be a gentleman, whatever he meant by that.

Byakuya walked back into the gym, and Taka addressed him. "Byakuya, you missed the introductions! I demand an explanation for your actions!"

Byakuya adjusted his glasses. "Don't be stupid. I don't answer to you, or anyone else here. I already introduced myself, and I didn't stick around because I don't care who the rest of you are. I'm only here to mention that I have found no way out, but I did find a few places that were gated off, insinuating that there are areas that are not accessible at this time, but perhaps will be in the future."

Byakuya turned his back to us and said, "For now, do whatever you want. I'm staying by myself because that is in my best interest. What you all do is no concern of mine, unless you find a way out, or try to kill me. In which case, I feel sorry for the imbecile who even thinks to attempt such a foolish task against me." He then walked out of the gym again.

Taka spoke up. "Ok, so Byakuya found nothing, but that doesn't mean we can't! Let's split up and search everywhere we can! Everyone, pick a partner or two, and let's go!"

Akane and Hina seemed to already be teamed up. Byakuya was obviously on his own. Soda, Miu, and Keebo seemed to have partnered up. Maki and Peko were eyeing each other warily, but seemed to trust (or, at least, respect) each other enough to work together. Ibuki was talking to Kirumi, and seemed to have Mikan dragged along with her. Gonta was talking to Taka about how to be a gentleman like him. Nagito and Kokichi, at the meanwhile, were talking amongst themselves. This seemed to be my chance to monitor those two, together, and analyze them better.

Boy, was I going to regret this decision...
