The Promise (2)

It was already quarter to 12 in the afternoon, the maids and butlers at Hae mansion were almost done loading up the car. Nanny Yu had arrived as well, and Mistress Hae was giving her instructions and updating her on what was going on. Meanwhile, Master Hae had finished up everything at the same time when his personal assistant informed him that everything was set up and that they were ready to go.

"Astrol my love, we're going to go now. Make sure you'll be a good girl okay?", Mistress Hae said. "Yes mummy, but you have to remember your promise too okay?", little Astrol said. Mistress Hae still couldn't quite understand why her daughter kept on emphasizing on that, but as long as it would make her to stop worrying, then she'd be fine with that. "Okay, happy now?", Mistress Hae asked while nuzzling her nose against Astrol's which made her giggle. Master Hae soon joined them; they both kissed and hugged Astrol goodbye, before they entered the car and drove off.

As soon as the car disappeared from Astrol's sight, her face became gloomy again. She thought of heading to the garden because it always made her feel better, but then she remembered her dream and quickly dismissed that idea. She just released a sigh before she turned around and started walking towards the mansion with Nanny Yu and Mr Ryu -their housekeeper- following closely behind her. Astrol went into her room and decided to play with her dolls and toys instead. Lots of hours passed by, and Astrol already had lunch with Nanny Yu and Mr Ryu. She returned back to her room soon after to continue playing, when the sun rays entering her room became dimmer...and dimmer. Soon enough, the wind began to roar at her window.

Astrol immediately started to feel restless again, and as time passed by, her anxiety only grew more and more, but the next thing that happened made her snap. A bird came from nowhere and started pecking at her window. It was the same bird from her dream. It didn't take long before the bird flew away and the rain began to fall heavily. Astrol started wailing and crying hard which made Nanny Yu to rush into her room and cradle her in her arms. "Dear what's wrong, why are you crying little mistress?", Nanny Yu asked worried. "I want to see mummy and daddy now. I WANT TO SEE THEM NOW !!! ", Astrol said in a stern voice, and when no reply came after that, she just cried louder and harder.

Mistress Hae began to feel restless. A few minutes ago, the pilot had informed them that they were having certain complications in flying the plane and she couldn't help but feel anxious. Master Hae could feel how restless she was becoming, and held her hand to give it a little squeeze. "Everything is going to be fine, hmm?", Master Hae spoke gently, when suddenly the plane dropped lower and tilted to the right.

"Good evening everyone aboard, sorry for the disturbance a while ago. We are going to be performing an emergency landing, on the basis that we've now run out of fuel. The flight attendants will be giving you instructions, please listen carefully. Don't worry, everything is under control", the pilot reported. Mistress Hae then looked outside the window and realized that they were flying amidst a storm. She hadn't even realized when tears began to fall from her eyes. "Nico I'm scared, what if something happens to us? Maybe we should have listened to Astrol and stayed. W-What if___". She couldn't even finish her sentence as the plane suddenly lowered again and a loud noise was heard.

"Mayday! Mayday!, one of our fans is out. We're going to have to land.... NOW!", the pilot informed in a serious tone. "In the ocean?!", one of the passengers asked in disbelief and horror. The air hostesses immediately began to do their jobs. "Everyone assume the crouch position now! Heads down - Stay down!", they chanted as they quickly went round the plane before returning to their seats.

'Heads down - Stay down! Heads down - Stay down!' Those were the only words that kept ringing in Master Hae's head. 'No it's not possible, how did they know?', he thought. He was suddenly grateful that Astrol wasn't with them at that moment. He quickly took his wife in his arms as they took the crouch position. Mistress Hae couldn't stop her tears. She was so worried about her precious daughter. "Nico... Astrol... what's going to happen to our baby?, we promised Nico, we promised to come back to her! How could I break such a promise!", Mistress Hae dreadfully stated hysterically. "Hush my love. It's not your fault, none of this is. If we didn't leave, we would've all been in danger. At least, Astrol's safe and that's more important", Master Hae consoled as silent tears fell down his face. All he could do was to pray for a miracle to happen.....but it never came. "I love you, I love you so much Mica, and I'm sorry...I'm sorry I'm such a useless husband, father and king. I couldn't even protect my own family", Master Hae stated in utter despair. "No my love, no , please don't say that. I love you and I'm sure Astrol will survive no matter what. She's a born fighter, just like her daddy", Mistress Hae soothed caressing his face. After that, all they could do was kiss and hold onto each other tightly, feeling each other's warmth for the last time, as the plane came crashing down. As soon as the plane touched the surface of the water, it split in half due to the heavy impact.

A lot of hours had gone by already and Nanny Yu just couldn't find a way to calm Astrol down. After some time, a brilliant idea popped into Mr Ryu's mind. 'Heck, why didn't I think of this earlier', he internally face palmed. "Let's go watch TV, hmm? Sofia the first is on", he said convincingly to Astrol, and soon enough, they were all seated in front of the large, high quality television. They were watching the princess program, when the news suddenly popped up interrupting the film. The moment Mr Ryu read the headlines, he instantly passed out. Astrol was shocked seeing him react that way, and started tapping Nanny Yu on her arm which suddenly felt cold. "Nanny Yu, what's going on?. What happened to Uncle Ryu, and why is mummy and daddy's face on TV. What does de-decea -deceased mean?", she barely managed to pronounce. Seeing Nanny Yu's unmoving frame, fear slowly started to engulf her. Nanny Yu just sat there, her body stiff and cold as she stared dreadfully at the TV screen, 'Impossible, how could this happen?!'

In a skyscraper overlooking the capital city of a particular place, two middle aged men sat drinking and watching the news. "My my, I must say you've really outdone yourself this time around", one of them commented with an evil grin plastered on his face. Finally they successful wiped out their entire bloodline, soon they'll be onto phase two. "Yeah but the child still remains", the other man said with a disappointed sigh. "Don't worry about her for now. We'll eliminate her as soon as she becomes a threat. For now, we have bigger things to worry about", the first man replied. The second man just shook his head, "No, let's just relax and celebrate. At least the first part of our plan is complete". "Cheers!", he said raising his glass. "Cheers!", the first man replied with a satisfied grin. He couldn't help himself as he re-read the headlines on the TV screen over and over again...
