My mom looks so sick as I walk through the front door. I am an adult. This is ridiculous.

"Sadie, I asked all your friends, where have you been?"

"With a new friend."

I walk toward the refrigerator and grab the orange juice. I feel so irritated. How dare she question me like this?

"What friend?"

I roll my eyes. "You making sure he meets your approval?"

"What about Adam?" My mom asks with her eyebrow raised.

"I am not interested in him."

"Since when?" My mom asks.

"You always liked him mom, not me."

"And who do you like, Sadie?" She asks me.

"Corey, Mom."

"You have to be joking Sadie?" I see my mom's face turn red.

I roll my eyes. I already know she is going to react like this.

"Corey is a great guy, he is caring and a sweet person."

"Who works for us, what type of life can he provide for you?" She asks.

"Mom, he is working on changing his life."

"How, by working weekends and completing community service?" She asks, rolling her eyes.

"Whatever."

"I can't do this now, I need to be at the academy," she tells me.

Moments later, I find myself in the dance studio waiting for my student. I constantly replay Corey's touch in my mind. It was so perfect last night. I hear feet approaching. Turning around, I expect to see my mom. My eyes are shocked, and I feel annoyed seeing Adam. My mom told him the devastating news.

I turn to face him. He looks angry. "What the hell are you thinking?"

"I don't need this from you either." I turn around.

I feel a strong grip on my arm.

"Don't turn away when I am speaking to you." He tells me.

"Let my arm go." I struggle to get free.

I feel relieved seeing Corey enter the room. He doesn't like so happy either.

"Hands off," I hear him bark once by our side.

Adam drops his hand off my arm. I look at him with disbelief. Adam has never acted this way.

"I could stand losing you to a man with class, but this trash," Adam glares at Corey.

Corey smirks. "She loved every minute of it."

Adams' face turns red. I watch as he walks away. I knew there wouldn't be a fight with Adam working in law enforcement.

Corey turns to face me. "Why did you tell your mom, are you crazy?"

"She kept questioning me, and I don't care if she knows we are together."

"You think what happened last night means we are a couple?" He asks.

I nod. "I hoped." I feel the water in my eyes. Looking down at the ground, I didn't want Corey to see me cry.

"Oh of course it does baby, I am sorry." I feel Corey's strong arm around my waist pulling me into his arms.

I look up at him. He places his lips on mine and kisses me gently.

"I am sorry, I was shocked to be let go here, '' he explains once he pulls his lips away.

"She did." I feel so mad. Corey is a great worker.

I hear the students entering the room.

I see my mom and Adam. My mom is grinning. She looks so cocky.

"You need to leave, you're not welcome here," Adam says.

"I am leaving too," I smirk at my mom.

"You have students here Sadie," my mom hiss.

I look around. The students look scared, with wonder about what's going on.

"You need to finish this class," Corey tells me.

I nod. "This will be my last class."

"Sadie." My mom looks so hurt.

Corey kisses me on the forehead. He looks me in the eyes. "Everything is fine, meet me at home."

"Okay." Home? His home.

Corey glares at my mom and Adam before leaving. Adam glares right back.

I turn. " Who's ready to get dancing?"

All the students stand up, not saying a word. I will miss them.
