Chapter V
Kimiko and I took our places across from each other in an open field with water on one side and a forest on the other.
Seeing as we were going until we were stopped there were no limits for where we could and couldn't go.
"I'll finish this quickly, Senju," I said placing my hand on my tanto.
"You can try, but don't be so sure, Uchiha!" She said and summoned a sword from a seal on her back.
There was a moment where Kimiko and I just stared at each other.
Well, she stared.
"[Observe]."

I also used [Observe] on my tanto.

Observe has leveled up!
Her sword is better quality and has more reach than mine. But most battles between Shinobi last less than a minute and the difference in [DEX] is nearly ten points so I get a significant advantage.
I could hear the other students now.
No one was cheering for me, not even the people in my group. Hell not even my clan mates were cheering for me Either being from great clans made them too dignified to cheer or they just didn't want me to win.
The people in Sarutobi's group were openly cheering Senju on, the only one not cheering was Sarutobi herself.
In a flash I was rushing towards Senju.
While I was running I used [Flickering Flame] as a distraction.
I heard her shout out out a jutsu to block mine but I didn't hear what it was.
I slashed my tanto at her the moment I got close enough not expecting her to be fast or skilled enough to dodge or deflect.
Only for her to knock my tanto aside and force me to fall back so I didn't get decked across the face.
I was forced to actually push my speed and strength to their limits as she rushed to engage me in a flash.
After nearly a full 30 seconds of me on defense she overstepped slightly on a swing and that was the only opening I needed to make my move and stab her.
Only for it to get stuck in a log.
I attempted to pull it out but was forced to abandon it as Senju rushed to attack me from behind.

Even as I felt myself get slower and weaker I was still confident my speed and strength are better.
I drew a kunai from my pouch and rushed towards her to get my tanto back.
She took a slash at me and my right hand shot out to grab her sword hand and stop it.
After that I stabbed my kunai at her stomach only for her to grab it in a mimic of my move.
So I jumped up and kneed her in the stomach forcing her to release her sword and fall onto her back.
I let myself fall with her and landed on top of her before raising my kunai to her face.
"Give," I told her only for her to punch me in the face.
I could have ended the fight right there, if I pushed my kunai forward then Sensei would stop it and declare me the winner.
But I found myself wanting to continue.
So I flipped my blade and bashed it into her face, hearing and feeling her nose crack.
I went to hit her again only for her to grab the bottom of my kunai and punch me in the face again before shoving me off her.
I pushed myself up and rushed straight back towards her as she did the same.
The two of us fell into a match of sloppy Taijutsu. There was no finesse or style put in and we both forgot our Taijutsu styles to only focus on hitting each other as hard as we could.
As the fight went on I began to not care how low our [HP] was getting. The more she punched me the more I wanted to hit back and show her I could hit her just as hard.
The thought of her thinking I was not as strong as her made me angry.
So, everytime I was shoved back I charged straight back in and she did the same.
I could feel something boosting my [STR] but I didn't care what it was as long as it was giving me something more impressive to hit her with.
I don't know how long we went on for but when we finally pulled away the two of us were panting and my body was covered in bruises.
It was then I looked at the notifications I got during the fight.

I felt more pride than I should have at the realization that I loss less [HP] than her.
Rivals, huh?
I... I actually like the sound of that!
"[Fire-Release: Fireball Jutsu]!" I was shocked by the size and heat of the fire I created. It was as big as my entire body!
For a moment I thought that Sensei would step in and stop the fight only for Kimiko to yell, "[Wind-Release: Gale Palm]!"
Kimiko's jutsu cut through the middle of my fireball and kept her from the fire.
She couldn't stop the entire jutsu though, as the grass to her sides and behind her lit on fire.
"Ready to give yet, Senju?"
"Don't be so arrogant, Uchiha! [Wind-Release: Storm of Arrows]!"
I watched as nearly 20 arrows made of wind materialized behind her.
I barely managed to dodge the first arrow before I had to deflect another with a kunai and jump back to avoid another.
Two went for my legs so I was forced to jump and deflect another coming for my chest with my kunai.
I jumped back and flashed through handseals before yelling out, "[Wind-Release: Gale Surge]!"
A dome of howling wind formed around me but wasn't enough to stop an arrow from coming through with only my kunai to deflect it.
I channeled more [CP] into the jutsu and watched as the arrows began deflecting off. There was only one thing to do.
"Seems your jutsu does nothing, Senju!" I taunted with a feeling of pride as anger flashed across her face.
"Where'd you learn that, Uchiha!?"
"It's a secret. I'll tell you if you win."
She let out a growl and the arrows seemed to hit my dome even harder than they had been.
"That's impressive, Senju," I called out to her, "But how long can you keep it up?"
"Longer than you can!"
That's a lie and we both know it.

In this fight of attrition I win easily.

"No!" I could see the strain on her face to hold up the jutsu as it continued to pound into my shield hoping to break it.
But that's not how it works. We could continue like this for eternity and she would never put a dent in my shield. But she doesn't have eternity, in fact she doesn't even have a minute.
Wind-Release: Gale Surge has gained 3 levels!
I suppose I might as well let her continue to level my jutsu.
I felt the pounding get harder so I increased the flow of my [CP].
I just waited, knowing that she would just run out of [CP] quicker.
I realized after about 30 seconds of her constantly increasing the damage of her arrows and me countering that she should be out of [CP] now.
I looked up and saw a look of determination on her face as blood fell from her ears and eyes.
"Senju! Stop!" Her only response was to slam the arrows harder, "Sensei stop her."
"Why don't you stop her, Daisuke?"
Are you stupid? If I release my jutsu those things will tear me to shreds.
Only for me to be overtaken with a feeling that I can stop her.
That I have to stop her.
That I am the only one who can.
I felt my eyes burn and looked up at the precise moment Kimiko did and our eyes met.
I felt my [CP] surge to my eyes without my consent and Kimiko dropped to the ground.
All of the sudden I felt an extreme tiredness over take me.
I think I'll just take a little nap...
