Though Rosé hesitated, Cornello's words made her determined.

"What promise did I make to you back then?"

"You promised to bring him back to life!"

Yes, the priest had deceived Rosé, promising to resurrect her lover.

Rosé aimed the gun at Edward, thinking he was the Fullmetal Alchemist, but when Cornello realized Edward was the real Fullmetal Alchemist, he was shocked.

"Ha ha ha! This is hilarious!" Daniel laughed at the mix-up.

However, the story didn't turn into a comedy. The humor was just a brief respite.

Rosé's attack didn't hurt Cornello much.

Cornello, enraged, released his chimeras, created with the Philosopher's Stone, to fight Edward.

But Edward soon defeated them.

He tore off his clothes, revealing his automail arm and leg.

"This is the form of a sinner who dared to defy God!" Edward said to Rosé, clenching his fist. "Rosé, do you have that resolve?"

At that moment, Rosé remembered Edward's words in the church: "A hero who flew too close to the sun with wax wings fell when they melted."

He was talking about himself.

"Wow, this story is amazing!"

Daniel watched as Edward defeated Cornello, realizing the Philosopher's Stone was a fake.

But Rosé was devastated.

She believed her lover could be resurrected, but now, that hope was crushed: "Tell me, what do I live for now?"

"Figure it out yourself," Edward said as he and Alphonse walked past her. "Stand up and walk forward. You have two strong legs. You don't need anything else."

The story didn't end there.

In the final scene of the chapter, the man and woman from the first chapter reappeared and killed Cornello.

Gluttony, the fat man, then ate the dead priest.

This made Daniel recall the first chapter, where Gluttony seemed to be eating something too.

"Could it have been a human corpse?"
