Ryo stepped into the house, the familiar scent of dinner wafting through the air. He slipped off his shoes and placed them neatly by the door. It had been a long day, but his mind lingered on Anzu—he was prepared to finally address her questions.
However, as soon as he saw her peek out from the hallway, something felt… off.
"Welcome back," she muttered awkwardly, barely meeting his gaze. Her usual fiery demeanor was nowhere to be seen. Instead, she looked almost… desperate?
"Anzu, we need to—"
"I'm busy," she blurted out, cutting him off. "I… I have homework to finish. Maybe later."
She darted back into her room before Ryo could reply, closing the door behind her. He stood there for a moment, frowning.
That's strange. She was ready to confront me earlier. What's changed?
Shaking his head, Ryo decided to give her space. She was clearly dealing with something, and forcing the issue wouldn't help.
