Long ago, during the time of the Celestial Emperor's Legacy, a circle of friends, for reasons lost to time, became resolved to make the climb to the Supreme Heaven from the Mortal. They were an extraordinarily unlikely group, for they were from very diverse walks of mortal life. There were those born of privilege, and ordinary disciples, those with talent and those without, those well loved by their sect and those disfavored.
In sheer ability, though, one stood clearly above the rest. A woman of unparalleled beauty and pride. She was not without talent in cultivation, but her true talent was a peerless ability to read the wiles of fate and Heaven's will, a gift rare to see even in a million years. She had as many jealous enemies as lovestruck admirers, and was intensely attracted to the Emperor's Legacy the moment she learned of it.
