Addiction

Receiving such power, all the desires in his heart burst out.

The light elemental shook its head in utter disdain. The six elemental avatars retreated. Their job here was done.

"Is this the side effect of absorbing elemental energy?" It curiously asked.

"Probably. There is no practical data about this." The earth elemental answered.

"His body is slowly fusing with the elemental energy. Soon, he will turn into an elemental-human hybrid." The dark elemental commented.

"Seems like we were right. A contract is different from infusing elemental energy into a mortal. A contract allows the mortal to summon an avatar of us while infusing elemental energy just pours elemental energy into the mortal. Once the elemental energy runs out, he will need to recharge. But if the mortal turns into an elemental-human hybrid, he can restore the used mana over time, and the catch is that he becomes a slave to us." The water elemental speculated.

"Do you think master would be mad? He said to sign a contract, and instead, we gave him elemental energy."

"Well, the end result is similar. Since it wouldn't affect his plans, he probably won't be mad... Speaking of which, we better do things right on the Orcs side. Dawand has already gone insane from this little stimulation. Only close observation is needed here."

The elementals nodded in agreement, and focus on the other end of the mortal plane. The Orcs' continent.

Dawand lay his daughter on a soft white bed, he bends down and gently kissed her forehead. Carefully and caringly, he strolls to a nearby chair, ensuring not to make any sudden or loud sounds. He skillfully manoeuvred himself into a comfortable position.

His eyes shut tightly as he dived into the new pool of energy. It was a beautiful place, white, silvery light flashes continuously. Thunder and lightning strike onto the ground randomly, sparing no area. Molten hot lava spills across the land. Something about this land attracts him. An unknown force pulls him toward it.

He hesitated, but something tells him to touch it. Slowly and familiarly, his hands reach into the ground. There wasn't any burning sensation that he expected from touching the molten lava. It also wasn't hard like he expected. His hands just passed through it without any resistance.

Ah, this is it isn't it, with a deep breath, he sucked all of the elemental energy into his body. In just 5 seconds, all of it was gone. There was nothing but a solid brown ground now, no lightning, no bright colours nor any light. He felt empty. An emptiness he never felt before.

More, more, more, I need more. This much isn't enough. His previously calm and collected face distort in displeasure. Seems like I will just have to complete the task. Stabilise my foundations and spread their greatness ha... Let's get this done as quickly as possible. He licked his lips, and something was different about his eyes. They were crimson orange, his pupil was slightly corroded.

Greed and understandable desire were evident in his eyes. If his old self-were to see the present self, it would undoubtedly shake its head in disappointment. Let me spread this pleasure to my fellow research members, my followers.

My daughter, I will share this with you once you are awake. He pushed down the guilt in his heart and proceed to call for a meeting. Having tasted this much power, his desire for elemental energy overwhelms his desire to protect his daughter.

Had he not consumed this power, he would not be able to protect his daughter. He hastily convinced himself so and waited for his full team to arrive. Dawand tapped his foot on the ground with impatience.

Quickly, quickly, come quickly. I cannot wait for my next 'meal'. When the group of the silhouette of his subordinates was seen from a distance, he couldn't help but smile. He did not notice the oppressive atmosphere or their austere expressions.

One by one they entered the meeting hall. Without waiting for the next second, he immediately commenced the meeting.

"Welcome back fellow researchers. I have made a breakthrough in our research on elementals, I h-"

Interruptions came from his right-hand man. "It has been a pleasure working with you, but I quit. We would all like to quit." Despite the progress made by the team so far, they had all lost heart in the elemental project. They no longer believe in the elemental project, especially after years of countless failures without any progress.

"You want to quit now? What about all the time we spent on this project?" Dawand questioned angrily. How could they just abandon the project at this critical stage?

"Wake up Dawand. There is no future in this." Chris lowered his head in discouragement. While a part of him wants to believe in this project, reality had shown him otherwise. He hopes that Dawand could too, spend his talent and time on other areas.

Seeing the that the team had already made up their mind, Dawand raged. His self-control was degraded considerably.

"LOOK CAREFULLY!" Dawand roared, fire danced behind his back, twisting in a fury.

The team glared at Dawand, what was this? Such power without a trace of Arcane in it? Has Dawand gone insane? What kind of devil did he make a deal with? Against this terrifying hellfire, Chris could only feel horror.

"Dawand! Have you gone insane? What kind of devil did you come into contact with? [Maximum Magic: Aqua Blast]" In an attempt to calm down the raging fire, a water type arcane spell was cast. A blue bubble with a radius of 1-metre forms. A stream of water blasted from the balloon and towards the fire.

The water was instantly vapourised. Loud hissing sound reverberated across the room. Hot steam covered the room, the heat made the place unbearable.

"Demon? No. This is the power of the elementals. Our vision has not failed us, and yet you dare? You dare abandon our cause when I have discovered the true essence of the elementals? Come, witness and taste true and absolute power." Dawand pulled out a rainbowish ball.

"Incredible." Chris stared in fascination. He reached out for the glowing ball of light. Energy surge into his body, "Ahahahaha, amazing."

The same scene repeated throughout the room as the rest of the members will accept the new powers. Different expressions appeared on each of their faces, but they all share a single common property. They were expressions of ecstasy.

More, they wanted more. Dawand licked his lips again and couldn't wait to complete his next goal. Now that the first job was done, he should quickly stabilise his faction.

The scene changes to another continent. The orc continent. The continent filled with orcs like the name implies. Every time a new king is 'elected' the war between the human and orcs begins, of course, this isn't a democracy. When I mention electing here I mean killing off all other candidates, sounds great right? Only if you are the king haha...

"I have arrived. Let's go. It is the coronation of a new Orc King."

"Water elemental you are up."

"I know. You don't have to remind me over and over again."

Within the ranks of Orcs, a single Orc overwhelms the presence of all others. He steps up to the totem looking up. If any human gods see this scene now, they would immediately put up their guards. The orcs were different from before. They were now slightly more civilised. With clothes, proper equipment and gears.

It looks like the Orcs had not been lazing around these few years. Well-organised salutes and horns blew as the king bowed towards the totem. The totem on the Altar shone brightly, and three towering figure appeared, brilliant cheers rang out across the continent. Their gods have descended... for the first time in centuries.

Unbeknown to them the elementals were watching their movements. The orc gods had initially wanted to contact the elementals since Orcs cannot use Arcane magic. But there isn't any information on these elementals. So they could only sigh inwardly and continue as plan.

A golden crown floated down onto the Orc's king head. At this moment, rain poured down from above. It was sunny just a few seconds ago, how could it rain so suddenly?

A torrential downpour poured down among the orcs. No one made a move as they saw the dark expression of their gods. Is this the doing of the goddess of harvest?

Soon, it was apparent which vile creature caused the rain. Taller than the mountains, more substantial than the giants, as chaotic as the Titans. 6 elemental figures stood proudly encircling the entire millions of Orcs troops.

A rainbowy orb flew to the biggest of the 3 Orc gods.

"Elementals? What do you want?" He asked cautiously.

A fiery explosion took place, and the elementals all pointed in a single direction. The direction of the human continent. A single word written in fire was written in the air. Just this single word highlights the intentions of the elementals. The dark clouds parted, and the elementals vanished. The only word left behind was burned into the depths of the Orcs heart. Their morale was raised to the highest point, a point never seen before in the history of the Orcs.
