Crusaders of Kraniel

The year is 2257 A.D, and humans have colonized much of the solar system. A former high schooler and pro gamer named Clay Crassius has since retired after a fatal car accident that not only killed his whole family, but damaged both of his eyes. Now living somewhere in Asia in total darkness and in a life of poverty, he busks the city streets every night to make a living. But when an incident reunites him with a former classmate which had a much larger success in the gaming industry than him, he earns the opportunity to become one of the very first players of what the gaming critics have called the "Masterpiece of the Century", the first "true" VRMMORPG, [Crusaders of Kraniel]. Set on the fictional planet of Xenania and its moon Cosa, the game promises its players beautiful graphics, immersive atmosphere, intelligent NPC's, and limitless emergent gameplay thanks to a new advanced AI system called FATE. You could become anyone you want, and do anything you want to do, and your deeds will become part of the game's history. The possibilities are endless. "But how can I possibly play this game if I'm blind as a bat?" Clay asked. Little did Clay know the other miraculous feature of this game: when you play, any missing senses will be temporarily restored.

3.1 | A Brand New World Pt. 1: The Gift of Foresight

Something was stirring up in the Kingdom of Valhallar. Specifically, inside the King's Hall, where the royal staff has currently gathered.

A deep, bellowing voice echoed through the walls, sending fear to those who've heard it.

[You mean to say she's hasn't been found yet? Incompetent fools! I'd rather kill you buffoons myself!]

[My King… please stay calm for the sake of your daughter! Guards!]

It took the words of the Royal Advisor, Morgarath, to order the royal guards to restrain the king's temper.

The majority of the people, the maids, the butlers and even his fellow nobles were cowering in fear as the King lashed out like a wild animal.

The subjects of his rage were also convulsing in fear. After all, they would have been dead, beheaded by their king if not for Morgarath's intervention.

But the King's threatening actions were understandable, and almost justifiable.

His only daughter, the Seer Princess of Valhallar, has been missing two days ago and she hasn't been found since.

There were no sightings of her at all after all this time, not even a ransom note if she was supposedly kidnapped.

The incident hasn't been disclosed to the populace yet. No, the king wouldn't allow this terrible news to spread among the populace like wildfire, and risk the total collapse of their society.

After all, the most holy figure of their state religion is the Seer Princess herself, and within her rests a formidable power.

The Gift of Foresight.

Its origins are unknown.

But legend has it that it was used during the Great Rebellion, when the Kingdom of Valhallar aided the Xin Technocracy in their war against the Great God Kraniel, who they perceive as tyrannical and one who controls their fate until the very end.

Xandral Xin, the elven leader of the Xin Technocracy, seduced the King of Valhallar to his side, promising him power and riches as reward.

And so, the Gift of Foresight, wielded by the females of the Royal Valhallar bloodline, was used in order to anticipate the Great God Kraniel's next course of action.

And sure enough, when the time for battle has come, they suceeded. They pierced Kraniel's core of existence, weakening him greatly, but it failed to kill him.

Still, it was victory for the Xin Technocracy and the Kingdom of Valhallar.

When the Kingdom finally asked for their promised reward, Xin treated them as if they never had a contract in the first place.

Instead, the Xin Technocracy betrayed them by killing their beloved king and massacring an entire town in front of powerless citizens as a warning to never cross your blades with them.

The Kingdom of Valhallar, with their overwhelming greed for power, chose to aid the enemy. And their promised reward was betrayal and murder of their own kin.

But how can they get their revenge even though they're thirsting for it? The Xin Technocracy has become unreachable now. They have fled Xenania and claimed its moon, Cosa, as their own as they terraformed it to the best of their interests. Once a beautiful violet moon that shines bright in the skies of Xenania, it has become a gigantic industrial machine, with advanced Xin Technology powering it.

Faced with humiliation and guilt, the Kingdom of Valhallar tried to make peace with its neighboring nations again. To scrub them of their humiliating history, the Kingdom decided to uphold the Gift Of Foresight as their own state religion, and vowed never to use it for nefarious purposes ever again.

In the present time, all was going well as usual, until the Gift of Foresight revealed to the Seer Princess an extraordinary vision, and this coerced her into running away.

What is the vision, you ask?

It is a vision of otherworldly beings descending from the skies with bright beams of light.
