I stared out of the plane window while listening to Solange's Cranes in the sky. Taylor had already started to text me after I had boarded the plan, saying that she wanted to know if everything was going smoothly.

Papa picked me up when the plane landed, a huge smile plastered onto his face when we rode home.

"Should I be worried?"

"Other than you being with us, we've got nothing to hide."

Oh no. They were keeping something from me. "Some bad news?"

"I don't know what you mean by that question, Katie."

"Somebody's being nostalgic. You haven't called me that since I was like eight."

"Well, you're going to be hearing a lot of your nicknames, lovebug."

I cringed in defense. "Uh no, the moment's gone dad, you've ruined it."

"Oh come on now, work with me here sweetie. Me and your mama missed you."

My hand reached out to give my dad's arm a light squeeze. "And I've missed you both just as equally."
