Chapter 34: Return To The Cat Cafe
Abigail’s POV
I waited a week before seeing Elle in person again. She kept saying she was “busy” but the wait “would be worth it.”
On Friday afternoon, she insisted on picking me up for our day out. She wouldn’t tell me where we were going, but we could sit on the curb by the convenience store and watch the stars break through the twilight one by one and I wouldn’t care.
I waited inside the convenience store for her to pick me up. I leaned on James’s counter, and we chatted between customers.
“Sheesh,” James sighed. “Y’all could have picked a better location for your date than this dump.”
I elbowed his arm. “Don’t embarrass me in front of her,” I said.
“You nearly fell on your a** on your first day together,” he chuckled. “I don’t think you can embarrass yourself any further.”
