The Mysterious Man

Melissa spent one night in jail. She was feeling light headed.Her eyes were swollen. She wasn't even given a new dress or jail uniform.She was still wearing her red blood drained skirt.

"Morning ayee!Had a marvelous night Didn't you?" Officer Hank said bashing at the jail bars.

Melissa didn't reply.

"I asked something! can't you hear?! You want me to empty my gun in your ears?!!" Hank said, squishing her face tightly.

"I-I h-had a f-fine night!"Melissa said, setting herself free of his grip.Her face went red.

George woke up.He said:

"Funny how you two get quite along!"

"I don't know him!" Melissa snapped.

"Okay okay! got it! always in the same mood!you won't survive with this attitude here little girl!"George was clearly bossy.

Melissa stood silent, holding the jail bars. She saw a skeptical man walking in the Police Station.He was wearing a mask with a sign printed on it which Melissa couldn't see because of distance.The man was also wearing a long coat with peculiar design and a long black Edwardian hat.He was wearing spectacles.

He brought some fruits and raw salmon with him.After long discourse on God knows what topic he stood up and Shaked hands with Officer Hank and Benjamin.He moved towards the door but before getting out of Police station he stopped.He stepped back and came to Officer Hank and Benjamin again.He murmured something in Officer Benjamin's ear and pointed towards Melissa. Maybe he was planning on killing Melissa or maybe he was there to advise the Officer to act strictly with Melissa.

The man suddenly started walking toward Melissa. Melissa held the jail bars.He came face to face with Melissa and said:

"Pleasure meeting you Miss Pearson! Suit yourself!"

Melissa was unable to see his face as he was wearing a mask. Only thing she could observe was his eyes which were brown with a black spot in one of his eyes.After hearing his words Melissa stepped back out of panic and bumped into Danny.

"Woah! Watch out Miss! We're trying to play here!" Danny yelled.They were playing cards which Danny's wife brought him.

"I'm sorry"Melissa said out of sense.

"You should be!"Danny grinded.

Melissa ignored him to return to the man but he was gone.Vanished in the air.

In the meantime, Hank came and took Melissa out of jail by grabbing her arm.

"You must be thinking you are lucky huh!No you're not! we're letting you go for now but don't think we're done! you're still a killer whether in or out of jail and I'll prove that as long as I'm alive!" Hank jerked.

Melissa couldn't understand the purpose of this act. Was the man here for her help? Did he offer the officers money? Melissa was in a dilemma.Anyhow, Melissa took a carriage and headed toward her house without further arguing or questioning.

She reached home safely without any interruption. Melissa was still not over that man.Was he some sort of pacifier? She was in her reverie when Matt ran toward her and hugged her tightly.

"They told me everything.These bastards are lying! I know it!I trust you!" Matt said with wet eyes.

Melissa kissed him on his forehead and said:

"I know you Don't worry about me.I want to say something that no matter what happens never stop your work,whether I'm here or not you'll always transport corn to city.Keeping in view the present circumstances, we'll be needing money, we'll really be needing money"

"Don't worry! I'll do as you say.But before starting,there's a man waiting for you, you should meet him"

Matt said pointing at the door.

"What man? Whose him?"Melissa asked out of curiosity.

"Dunno.ask him yourself"Matt shrugged.
