Core Soldier

Ren Lennon was thrown in a bright cold room, which in Burtgundy facility, was known as a cell. His body ached, and hardly had the energy to move. With what energy he had, he sat up and looked around in disbelief at what was to be his new home for a very long time. This cell, he regretably had to admit, was better than most. Besides it being deathly cold, it had a bed with a nice thick mattress in the far left corner. In the far right was a sink with a mirror above and a toilet. In the center of the ceiling was a single bright light that lit the room extremely well. That was all, however. The basic necessitites. In the near right corner of the room was a security surveillence camera. "Better get used to it, soldier. This facility is going to be your hell hole until you die," remarked the guard as a smirk emerged upon his face. SLAM! The guard slammed the door shut, sealing Ren within. The sound echoed throughout the room, his heart sinking as he slowly grasped the situation he was in. Shortly after that, the light went out, engulfing Ren in total darkness. He listened to the guards footsteps as he began to walk down the hallway until they grew distant enough that he could hear them no longer. "DAMNIT!" Ren slamed his fist in the gound as tears began to stream down his face. "Why..... why.... WHY!" On the ground, he curled up into a ball holding his head sobbing. "This... this... If... if only... if only..." Ren continued to sink in despair as he relived the last memory he had of his two friends. He was now all alone, and helpless. The White Light (Prologue)

Year 2019

A distant, blinding white light grew brighter and brighter. People stopped and stared wondering what it exactly was, until the white light began to rival that of the sun. Soon the light engulfed everything. For an entire 5 minutes all anyone could see was white. Very slowly, it then began to die down. Everyone's eyes slowly adjusted so that the world came back into view.

As everyone took in their surroundings, a huge overwhelming shock consumed them. Some were lying on the ground motionless. Those still standing felt an uncomfortable feeling in their gut, that soon spread throughout their entire body. They felt a new surge of energy. Fire, ice, and other things sprang from their bodies destroying whatever was around them as they had absolutely no control of the new found power. The world was thrown into complete disarray.

It was later discovered that the human race had new found abilities awakened within their bodies. Their bodies were also strengthened and able to reach new physical heights never before attainable. Those whose bodies could not handle this drawn out power died. Therefore, the human population saw a dramatic decrease. Some didn't gain any ability at all, those who became known as handicaps.

The world changed drastically. It was chaos as people began to abuse their new found power. Some countries' governments were overthrown by powerful groups formed by the most gifted and powerful ability users and their followers. Some countries began to invade others in order to gain more influence. The world was reverting back to survival of the fittest.

In order to try and combat the chaos, countries gathered the strongest ability users they could find In exchange for large amounts of money and other priviledges, they formed different organizations to make and enforce rules and laws to keep their citizens in check. For example, America established the organization known as the American Authoritarian Association for this role.

This succeeded in lowering the chaos within coutries, however, this didn't stop countries from making war with one another. Countries began to focus solely on building up their military power in order to deter other countries from invading or in order to invade.
