Core Soldier

Ren Lennon was thrown in a bright cold room, which in Burtgundy facility, was known as a cell. His body ached, and hardly had the energy to move. With what energy he had, he sat up and looked around in disbelief at what was to be his new home for a very long time. This cell, he regretably had to admit, was better than most. Besides it being deathly cold, it had a bed with a nice thick mattress in the far left corner. In the far right was a sink with a mirror above and a toilet. In the center of the ceiling was a single bright light that lit the room extremely well. That was all, however. The basic necessitites. In the near right corner of the room was a security surveillence camera. "Better get used to it, soldier. This facility is going to be your hell hole until you die," remarked the guard as a smirk emerged upon his face. SLAM! The guard slammed the door shut, sealing Ren within. The sound echoed throughout the room, his heart sinking as he slowly grasped the situation he was in. Shortly after that, the light went out, engulfing Ren in total darkness. He listened to the guards footsteps as he began to walk down the hallway until they grew distant enough that he could hear them no longer. "DAMNIT!" Ren slamed his fist in the gound as tears began to stream down his face. "Why..... why.... WHY!" On the ground, he curled up into a ball holding his head sobbing. "This... this... If... if only... if only..." Ren continued to sink in despair as he relived the last memory he had of his two friends. He was now all alone, and helpless. Due to the overall exhaustion, he slowly fell asleep on the cold floor of his new cell, his home, alone. Follow the story to find out what happens to Ren; The Core Soldier! I hope you enjoy. Farewell

"Does anyone have a visual?!" asked an officer in a serveillance room somewhere in East Building.

"He is currently on floor 23! He's slaughtering everyone he comes across! Everyone on the top seven floors of this building are already dead!" responded one of the security officers.

"Send as many high ranks as you can to stop him! Damn! He's only one floor above us!"

CRASH!

The ceiling suddenly collapsed.

"SHIT! HE'S HERE!"

SLASH!

The head of the man who just screamed went flying off his body, blood splattering everywhere, and his body collapsed to the floor with a dull thud.

"EVACUATE!"

It was no use. Before anyone could leave the room, they all either lost their head or had a hole blown through their stomach. All of them had their core stolen and crushed.

"Sir, we lost contact with the surveillance team on floor 22!" informed an security officer.

"Son of a bitch can't be stopped! Do we have anyone who could put up a real fight against him!" another officer screamed urgently.

"He already took out the highest ranker we had here, as well as the Commander. Anyone who could put up an actual fight against him was sent away to the war!"

"Damnit! In other words, we are sitting ducks!"

RUMBLE!

The building shook fiercely.

"Fuck, just how strong is he?"

"GO INTO FULL LOCKDOWN!" ordered the Captain.

"Sir, if we do that, the other buildings will go into lockdown as well, no one would be able to escape!"

"I DON'T CARE, YOU WANT TO DIE! I SURE AS HELL DON'T, THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE FOR SURVIVAL!"

They activated the lockdown, sealing everyone in.

BOOM!

"Sir, he's on our floor! He's close!"

"Shit, already?!"

BAM!

The lockdown door was blasted open, revealing small two green lights that pierced through the dust and smoke.

SPLAT! SPLOOSH! SLASH!

"I still can't stop, not until everyone here is dead," breathed Ren.

He clasped his two hands together...

SMASH!

... and smashed the floor open to the floor below.

"Where is he?" asked the Corporal.

"Sir, everyone in the East building is dead and the building is up in smoke. He is currently headed through the ground passage towards West building.

"Warn them, and someone get this lockdown lifted, we need to evacuate everyone! This monster can't be stopped!"

"What! He's headed towards us! Guards get ready at the entrance!" yelled a Sergeant.

"Yes Ma'am!" replied an officer.

The guards waited in silence in the first floor of West building.

"He's at the entrance!" someone screamed.

KABOOM!

The thick lockdown door covering the entrance was blasted open like a paper.

"FIRE!!"

A storm of bullets entered the hole where they suspected the intruder to be.

"RELOAD AND KEEP FIRING UNTIL YOU RUN OUT OF BULLETS!"

When they finally ran out of bullets, they waited in silence. Everyone hoped they at least did some damage.

The dust and smoke slowly cleared and there stood Ren. Not a single hole or scratch existed on his body. The only thing on his body was the blood of those he killed.

"Someone tell me what's going on!" demanded the Sergeant.

"I'm sorry, Ma'am, we lost contact with those on the ground floor," replied an officer.

"You can't be serious!"

Ren toar apart, smashed, and slaughtered everything and everyone he saw. Whatever injuries he incurred on his body was instantly regenerated by his core. He didn't spare anyone. He shot from room to room, searching every closet and bathroom, ripping open every door and smashing every barricade and obstacle in his way.

"Sir, he killed everyone in the West building."

"Where is he now?" sighed the Major as he began to lose hope.

"He is standing on the roof of West building. I think he is going to jump over to this building and enter through the roof," replied an officer.

"Has anyone had any luck in lifting the lockdown?"

"None Sir."

Ren made his way down threw the North building. He was so caught up in rage and destruction he didn't realize he was in his own room until he noticed the white mask Mr. Sandler had given him. For some reason, Ren felt as if he should hang onto it.

Ren stood on the ground at the entrance of the North building, breathing heavily. It looked as if he had taken a shower in blood as it dripped form his hands and chin.

When Ren caught his breath, he returned to where he had layed Marissa's body and picked her body up. He turned and looked at the three buildings. All three were in shambles, smoke emerging out of every floor of each one.

He walked with Marissa's body into the East building, past all the mangled bodies, and into the elevator. He pulled out the Commander's badge he swiped from his dead body earlier, and slid it into the slot. A button he never saw before, labeled 'basement', emerged.

When the elevator door opened, he stepped out into a very large tunnel that led straight. The tunnel was so long he couldn't see the end.

He then sensed a faint presence somewhere near. He layed Marissa's body down, then launched himself towards the presence.

SLAM!

Ren had grabbed the neck of the mysterious someone and pinned them to the wall, legs suspended.

"Dr. Donavin?" puzzled Ren. "Looks like I missed one." Ren sunk his hand into the Doctor's side, but to his surprise, couldn't feel a core. "Interesting." He released the Doctor's neck and his body slid to the floor.

Ren was about to kill him when Dr. Donavin said something.

"What?"

"There are.... more... cores.... also.... you must... find... the.... white light." stammered the Doctor.

Ren listened to what the doctor had to say, then with one swish of his hand...

SLASH!

... he loped off his head.

He then retieved Marissa's body and started to walk down the long underground tunnel.

It took a very long time until he emerged from the underground tunnel. It was morning now as he stepped out onto the surface. He looked behind him to see the very large wall towering over him.

Ren carefully placed Marissa's body on the ground and started digging into the ground with his hands. When he thought it was deep enough, he stopped and placed Marissa's body into the new grave.

"Thanks for waiting. We escaped Marissa. Sorry, but I couldn't bring Alex along with us. Now your free. You can rest peacefully now."

Ren began to cover Marissa's body with the dirt he dug out. Tears fell from his eyes with each and every scoop of dirt. He finished and stood back up.

Ren pulled out his mask and cut two eyeholes into it and smoothed out the cracks that went through the eyes of the mask with a sharp little rock he found on the ground. He silently made a vow to destroy every core and organization that possessed one. From that time on he would remember his vow, every time he would put on that mask.

He took one last look at the wall and Marissa's grave, then turned to start walking away.

"Goodbye, Marissa."
