Green Snake In The Green Grass

Sir Pride smiled awkwardly and nodded his head. He felt a little bit ashamed as if the guard had caught him in a disgraceful act. He felt exposed as if the guard had seen or heard what he had been thinking about.

Pride quickly shook off that feeling and put on his game face. He had to be ready for the task ahead.

Pride did not make the mistake of underestimating his adversary. He dared not underrate the intelligence of King Thress, so, he knew that he had to be extra careful about his assignment. The king could not see through his deceit. Pride had to make the king believe him to the letter.

He adjusted the collar of the velvet robe that he was wearing as they opened the doors for him to walk through.

As he entered the throne room, Sir Pride found the king sitting on the large throne as if he had earned the right to be there. It infuriated him but Pride did not let his anger or disgust show on his now pleasant-looking face.
