Welcome back

Alburquerque~New Mexico

06:00AM

Sunday 18 August 2009

It was the first morning since Lalo's sudden appearance. She had no choice but to accept that he was here. Marco would arrive tomorrow. Lalo had given Savannah a new telephone since Tuco broke hers. At least the glass. Savannah had no choice but to accept.

Yawning, she walks into the bathroom. She takes a short shower and freshens herself up. After such a short night, the morning hurt a lot.

Still tired, she walks into the kitchen. "Look at you now in your uniform" Lalo laughs. Savannah looks at her dark green Starbucks t-shirt."What's wrong with it?" She asks. Lalo is leaning against the kitchen island with his arms crossed, that grin on his face. "Coffee" he asks and lifts the coffee pot. "Yes please" she says. Lalo chuckles. "You sit down, I'll take care of you." Again, Savannah raises an eyebrow. Lalo laughs. "I like you! You have fire! Just what Marco needs. " "And Leonel?" she asks curiously. "Leonel needs someone to push him a bit. He looks up to Marco. And that's great. But to be honest, he hasn't always been a good influence and Leonel, he needs a leader." Savannah nods. "And your mom?" "Forget it" Savannah replies shortly to which Lalo laughs. Savannah drinks her coffee. "Oh my god, what is this? Is this coffee?" Lalo nods. "Si, Mexicana." Savannah drinks more. "This is good," she says. Lalo chuckles. "I thought you were going to like this. "No, but what about you mom, I'm not going to date her. But is she looking for a new start, or is she still grieving?" "I think both" Savannah answers honest. "And your brother, with all that work he can't find a girl, right?" Savannah raises an eyebrow." Come on, tell me about your brother!" The Salamanca man, realized he was prying. But he had his reasons. "I ain't a gossip girl" she says bitter. "Perdone?" "It's a thing me and my friend once said when somebody asks details. I ain't a gossip girl." Lalo laughs. "That's a special name" Lalo says with a laugh. "Oh right" Savannah swears. She rushes to the large closet and tries to slide her fingers over the top shelf. "Need help" says Lalo, busy with breakfast." "No" she answers from the living room. Lalo chuckles. That girl... "Oh no" swears Savnnah, her voice trembling. Lalo rushes to the living room. He sees her standing on a stool. "What are you doing?" he asks with a laugh. Savannah doesn't answer. "Yes" she says and takes a wooden box from the cupboard. She wants to get off the chair again but the stool wobbles causing her to fall down. "Ah she swears but her fall is broken by Lalo. He had caught her and dropped her on him. Surprised she lays on his chest. "Por favor" says Lalo softly. Savannah lifts her head. "Oh my god, sorry Lalo she says surprised. Lalo growls. "You are squishing my juevos Muneca". "Ah, damn sorry" Savannah blushes and stands up. She helps Lalo straight. Lalo laughs. "It's okay, just not really cute." "Sorry she says embarrassed." Lalo smiles. "Thank you for the rescue," Savannah stammers. "What was so important that you had to imitate Tarzan? Savannah looks at him. She takes the box and walks back to her coffee. Lalo looks curiously at the small box. A spare key that she gives to Lalo. "All that effort for that" he mocks. "No" says Savannah and takes two twenty-dollar bills from the box." "Ai chihuahua, is that your last money?" Savannah looks at him. "No," she says quickly. Lalo rolls his eyes. Savannah takes a golden name tag. Her name written in silver curls. "Wow" he says. "Hayden gave it to me" she explained while putting it on her shirt.

After Lalo has served her a delicious Huevos rancheros, she prepares to leave. Lalo looks on with a smile. "Where to?" he asks. "Lalo, it's a ten-minute walk. I'll make it." "Isn't that what you said that famous night" he teases. Savannah swallows. She knows he's right. "Come on" Lalo laughs and steps outside. "Will you join me for a walk?" "Crazy" he laughs and points to a beautiful green 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. "Wow" Savannah laughs. "Do you like him?" "Yes" she laughs. Lalo smiles and gets into the car. He drops her off at the door and waits for her to get in. Then he drives on.

Savannah is doing her first day as told. She opens the shutters of the shop and steps inside. She turns on all the lights, starts cleaning and turns on the coffee maker. Then she has to wait for the first customer, who arrives soon. A couple of cops greet her and give her a big tip for their coffees. Then it stays quiet until eight o'clock. When school starts. Savannah doesn't think this is a bad job. She stands alone but it's okay. It's more fun than in the diner. That's for sure!

In the early afternoon when she is cleaning the coffee machine, she hears a customer stepping in. "Hey, I'll be right there. Say your order and name already" Savannah says and closes the coffee maker. "Tsk you really have to ask my name, I thought we were closer." Savannah looks up. "Hayden" she says with relief and jumps over the counter to hug him. Hayden smiles and grabs her in his arms. "How are you?" He asks. "Okay, it's a nice job," she replies. "And easy." "Oh, yes? Also, with customers like me?!" Savannah laughs. "What do you want?" "A mocha laté." "Seriously" Savannah laughs. Hayden grins. "I'm waiting" he says and sits down at a table. It doesn't take as long as he thought until he has a cup with his name and three hearts in his hand. They sit together at a table, laughing and talking. Hayden chuckles as she wipes his foam mustache. "I was so afraid you'd be mad," he says. Savannah shrugs. "You are and will always be my brother and best friend" she says to which Hayden smiles. "Don't say anything to mom okay" he asks. Savannah shakes her head. "I just think Hank is on to you." "Do you think?" Hayden laughs. Savannah sticks out her tongue. "Hey I have to go, call me if anything is wrong" he says. Savannah nods. She polishes the kitchen counter patiently waiting for the day to be over. Tomorrow Marco would come... Finally

As promised, Lalo came to pick her up and drop her off that evening. He would be right back. He had to go get something for a while. Savannah was given strict orders not to open the door to anyone. Of course, Savannah did. She didn't want anyone else around. Until a bell rang. She saw no one on the camera screen. Savannah shakes her head. She picks up the intercom and asks; "Hello?" "Marco" sounds soft. Savannah smiles. "You idiot you scared me" she laughs and opens the door. She hurries to the mirror. Luckily, she had already showered and put on a black dress. She checks her hair, braided in 1 long braid and walks to the door. She slides the lock from the door. Lalo said don't unlock. But Marco ... That can't hurt, right. She hears the elevator ping. Her heart races like crazy. In order not to look hopeless, she sits down on a chair at the kitchen table with a magazine. A firm knock bangs on the door. "Open" she yells in a trembling voice. She looks up, so happy to see him again until...

Her mouth falls open. "Victor" she stammers. Victor walks in with a smile. He closes the door behind him and puts the lock on the door. "Victor" asks Savannah uncertainly and steps of her chair. "You look beautiful" he mocks. "Too bad that uh... Marco isn't here yet." "You bastard," she hissed. Victor laughs amusedly. "You have a coarse mouth for such a beautiful doll" he mocks. "I'm not a doll" she replies and steps back until her back hits the wall. Where is Lalo when you need him. Victor laughs and comes up against her. "Right now, you're my doll" he whispers and rubs her jaw. "Say Papi" he smiles in a husky voice. "Ew" Savannah whispers. Victor laughs. He takes her in his arms and hangs his back against her chest. He smells her neck. "Don't do it Victor" she begs. "Shh" he whispers and takes a syringe from his pocket. He sticks the needle into her neck. "Victor" she whispers weakly. Immediately Savannah feels the liquid rushing through her blood, leaving her weak and motionless. Victor smiles. He kisses her neck. "Soon," he whispers. "Victor" she mumbles again before losing consciousness.

Savannah growls and opens her eyes. She moans and immediately closes them again. The light is too bright. "Lalo" she asks weakly. No response. She blinks and opens her eyes. She is in a room with white paneled walls, floor and ceiling. There are only spotlights, a camera and a thick security door. She sits on the floor with her back against an iron pole on which her hands are handcuffed. "What the hell?" She asks. "Victor" she growled angrily. She desperately tries to escape.

She looks up tensely at the door when it makes a noise. Victor walks in with a smile on his face. "Hey doll" he says mockingly. "Victor what the fuck" she growls and he laughs again. Victor kneels next to her. He feels her handcuffs. Savannah turns her head away from him. "The camera is off," he whispers amusingly. "And" she says in a trembling voice. "I'm the only one in the whole building, the camera's off ... looks like we can see why this Salamanca likes you so much." "Victor, don't think about it" she begs but Victor doesn't listen. He kisses her neck and places his hand on her breast. He strokes her nipple and places his other hand under her dress. "Victor stop" she begs. "We're alone, go ahead. The camera's off, the door's closed. Someone won't be here until four hours. That's four hours of fun with you. That's why I like night shifts so much," he says. Savannah swallows. Night? It was night? Oh Lalo, hopefully he found her soon. Victor puts two fingers inside her and hurries them back and forth. In the meantime, he plays with her nipple and kisses her neck. Savannah bites her lip to hold back the tears. This is the second time she has been abused by a little Mexican."Really? Nothing, not even a peep" he laughs and opens his pants. "Then the hard way" he says and pushes himself inside her. "Victor" she wails. But this just excites him more. "Say Papi" he growls. "Say it or I won't stop." Savannah swallows. "Papi" she whispers indignantly. Victor grins and pushes himself harder inside her.

Lalo opens the door that's ajar. "Savannah" he asks and takes his weapon. He walks in. A kitchen chair is turned around. A magazine is scattered across the kitchen table. This is incorrect. "Savannah" he yells and goes to her room. "Maldita sea."
