Chapter 20

The King had waited all day for his wife to come home. He had wanted to specifically ask the Queen for a favor, so he tried his best to act accordingly on how an ideal husband would be, these past few weeks. Earlier, his mother had visited him and ordered him to get closer to the Queen. This was because of their plan that involved the Moral Empire and the Regin Kingdom merging. He had played his part of a loving and affectionate husband for the past few days, however, the King was much more sensitive than he thought. Being around the Queen for a short amount of time had given him a chance to open up to her more. He loved how at night when he wanted to chatter away, she would listen willingly. Despite feeling intimidating around the Queen, it was also a part of her that the King had shamefully found attractive. Before the King knew it, he had fallen greatly in love with the Queen.

The Queen had gone out with one of his dear concubines and he was left with the other two. He ignored them and sulked in his room. Why won't the Queen spend more time with me? Why is the Queen always with her? He began to have childish thoughts. The concubine he had always seen as his future wife was irrelevant to him now. All he wanted was the Queen.

The King waited in his room and was lost in thought.

...

'EDWARD! EDWARD! WAKE UP!'

The Queen had made it back for the afternoon. She rushed to her room to find the King at once. She wanted to ask him for something.

The King was sprawled all over the bed and was happily snoring in his sleep. Hearing the Queen, his eyes opened slightly.

The Queen furrowed her brows and sighed in pity. 'It's time for dinner, wake up, and let's eat together,' She dragged him up and pulled him up with all of her strength. 'I have something I want to discuss with you.' She continued.

'I also have things I want to talk about.' The King replied lazily. He let go of the Queen's arms and stretched while yawning. 'What's for dinner?'

...

Once the King and Queen were seated alongside the concubines for their afternoon meal, the Queen turned to him.

'Do you have a cousin that was kicked out from your Kingdom?' Hearing how straightforward the Queen was, Kira coughed out her drink. The other two concubines acted neutral and kept a mild expression however their ears perked at what the Queen said.

The King's eyes widened, 'Your Highness, can I ask why you are interested in this?'

The Queen remained neutral and ignored his question. 'Do you know where you're cousin is these days?'

Edward paused and put his fork down, getting up from the table.

'Your Highness, I will be the first to sleep,' He got up but the Queen held tightly on his arm, he looked at her confused expression and smiled in reassurance. 'I'll answer your question when you come later.'

Hearing this, the Queen felt satisfied and let go of the King. She happily hummed along and carried on feasting.

The King turned around and his head began to hurt.

How many years has it been since his cousin had been kicked out of the Regin Kingdom? The King missed his dear cousin deeply and despised his mother, as she was the reason he had been forcefully kicked out. The Queen's sudden interest had surprised the King, but he decided to answer the Queen's question truthfully when it would be just the two of them.
