NANA

I ran towards the bathroom; I cannot contain myself any further. I looked at the mirror and saw how beautiful I was in the dress; it was such a waste to have me be it. This is a waste.

"Miss Krissy, may I ask where are Father and Mother?" I asked my Nanny. "Greetings, Miss Wijndelts, your Father and Mother has a visitor that they are tending to."

I smiled with delight; I can show off how great of a daughter I am again. They will compliment me about how good I am; I should greet them at least. "Miss Krissy, can I greet them also?" I said with pleading eyes. "Well, with that, Mister and Missus Wijndelts told us never to let you go outside of the room while they are still attending to the visitor." She explained.

That means the visitor is essential; it is a reason to step forward; Father and Mother will be happy. "That is more than of a reason for me to greet the visitor, right, Miss Krissy?" I complained even more. "But, Mister and Missus Wijndelts forbid anyone to disrupt the meeting, that includes you, Miss Wijndelts, even if you are their daughter, you should follow the rules, right?"

I rolled my eyes and stormed off my room; I headed toward the living room where my parents were supposed to be. "Greetings, Mister and Missus Wijndelts." I saw a middle-aged man greeted Mother and Father as I went to our living room. "Greetings, Mister Danberry; it is such an honor to have you here!" Father exclaimed with delightful eyes.

They talked about how stuff was doing good and how it would bring fortune to the family. As I was about to leave, Father noticed that I was hiding in the corner near the living room. "Kerstein, dear, come here," Father called onto me. I stood next to them and bowed to Mister Danberry to show respect. "What a polite and kind angel you have here, can you introduce yourself?" He asked.

I smiled with glee; I like how people notice and compliment me. "Greetings, Mister Danberry. I am Kerstein Wijndelts, I am five years old!" I exclaimed. They laughed about how joyful I was; it was until that the fun started to end and fade until its very last moments. "Such a lovely child,"

I sighed in frustration; I really cannot stand people. I feel suffocated. Memories bother me on how I should express myself. I feel sick of my past. I cannot handle boys, so what more if other people. There is no chance for me to attend these parties at all. I want to go home and lay on my bed. I would love that.

As I sat near the bathroom, a group of men approached me; I felt danger. "A girl like you should not be alone here." He said as he grabbed my arm. "Your beauty is such a waste here." He added.

He reeks of alcohol. I felt more nauseous than ever. My mind was going blank because of suffocation; the air was cramped. "You smell alcohol, Mister," I responded in restraint. "How dare you refuse, Huh!" He yelled.

"Forgive me, Mister; I shall take my leave," I replied. I was about to leave when he grabbed me forcefully; it felt pain in my arm. I even felt lightheaded; this is a problem. As I was about to faint, a firm grip held me from behind. "Are you all right, Miss?" I gazed at him; he was the man whom I bumped in earlier. He looked like a Knight in shining armor.

I nodded, "T- Thank you, Mister." He just looked at me blankly. He glared at the men; they had frightened eyes like a lion that was ready to devour them. "I- It is-!" They did not finish their sentence as the man looked at them even more.

"Get lost, you trash!" They stormed out of the scene. After the area cleared, he helped me to take a seat. "Are you fine?" He asked,

"Y- Yes, thank you." I replied. "I think you should go to the hospital; you are as pale as you can imagine; are you not feeling well?" He worriedly questioned.

"I- I am fine; this happens all the time," I responded. He is pretty, too pretty. "Are you sure?" He continued.

"Uh, yes, I am fine now," I assured him with a smile. "By the way, what are you doing here?" He questioned.

"Uhm, I felt weird inside; I do not like to attend these kinds of stuff. It felt uncomfortable." I responded, "What unruly girl you are; stop making excuses and tell me that you got bored." I felt stunned by his change of attitude. I glanced at him.

He was now wearing a mischievous smile on his lips; he now looked bad and teasing. A sudden change affected me; I felt irritated for the first time. His smile looked like he was mocking me; my blood boils to its highest point. "H- How dare you!" He laughed out, "Do not worry, I got bored too, do not stress yourself out." He added.

The air immediately silenced. "So, why did you get bored?" He raised a question. "I have never been to a party this grandiose before." With that, I lied and smiled bitterly.

As I looked at him, he seemed like he saw through me, "Are you sure?" He smiled playfully. "Yeah, I never get used to the atmosphere like these, you know, gathering with different people and all," I added.

"Really, and why is that?" He interrogated, "I do not feel comfortable in there; I told you already, right?" I explained.

"Is that all?" He still questioned. "You know, why am I talking this to you?" I complained.

"It is better to talk to strangers, sweetie." He stated, winking; I felt disgusted and weird. It sends shivers down my spine. "Whatever."

He stood up from the seat and grabbed my arm, "Let us ditch this place together? Shall we?" He held my hand, dragging me outside. Even the guards did not bother to stop us. "The inauguration is starting; we have to go back!" I reacted.

"Do not worry; I got you." He got his keys from his pockets. "Are you serious, Mister?" I asked.

"Yeah." He continued, "Wait for me here; I will drive." He said. I rolled my eyes. I am getting a bad feeling about this, but why do I feel excited?
