"Okay, I'll dig in!" Alpha exclaimed with an excited smile on her face, but just when she was about to dig into her dinner, Luminis immediately held her hand.
"Now, where are you manners? You should wait for the generous people feeding you to taste their food first before you go." He spoke before slowly turning his gaze towards Benihime.
The angry mummers from the women watching began to get louder, each of them sending deadly stares at him, while Alpha just sat there, clearly confused as to what was happening.
Benihime stared at Luminis for a while, and then, she slowly reached out to the bowl of soup in front of her. With her other hand, she held the fork, stabbing it into the meat before she began eating.
'Aril can you tell if the food is poisoned?' He asked.
[Notice: The skill 『Perception』 could easily detect that, would you like me to activate it?]
'Please.'
[Notice: Only yours seem to have a strange substance injected into it, a pyjosis substance, a very effective and slow poison that kills cells]
'They chose to poison only me?' Luminis sighed, 'I wish I had a skill that could fight against this'.
[Request confirmed, The skill 『Poison resistance』 has been obtained]
'Good.'
Luminis let go of Alpha's hand, "Now we eat." He uttered with a smile before they both began digging into their food.
"Tell me… what is your name traveler?" Benihime asked.
"Uhm, Luminis." He replied.
"Luminis, were you perhaps named by someone from the eastern continent?"
"No, I named myself."
"I… see." Benihime stared at him for a while again, "You must posses and incredible amount of magic,"
"No, not really." Luminis responded, setting the empty bowl on the table, "Thank you for the food, I really appreciate it, my partner and I will head to the room now, tnx."
With that he stood up, grabbing Alpha by the hand and dragging her out of the dining room despite how frantically she was fighting to stay with her food.
Benihime sat there, watching as Luminis left the room, a sigh immediately leaving her mouth as soon as he closed the door.
"Lisa, what do you think?" Benihime asked, turning her gaze to the pink haired woman sitting not too far from her.
"Well I can say this for sure, he definitely isn't normal, his entire aura is off, gives out a different vibe, he's definitely not one we should underestimate." Lisa responded, "I'll give that about 89 points".
"Just as I thought," Benihime muttered under her breath before she voiced out,
"Inform the others, the traveler and his companion are to be left alone, not a single person should try to make a move on him, or they'll face the consequences".
"Understood." They all uttered in unison.
...
/The next morning/
Luminis and Alpha were standing before Benihime in the small throne room, looking up at her while she was seated on her throne.
"I sincerely hope you enjoyed your night here," Benihime uttered with a smile, her legs tucked under one another.
"It was alright, thank you again for the help, but we need to get going," Luminis replied, wanting to leave the place as soon as possible.
"Wait."
Luminis paused, slowly veering around to look at Benihime,
"I understand you are going to the city, but it's going to take you another full day if you wish to go through this route, why don't my subordinate lead you to the shortest route you could take?" Benihime proposed, her hand in gesture.
Luminis glared for a while, "Sure, I guess so," he uttered, turning fully towards her.
"Excellent." Benihime smiled, "Isla!" She called out.
And from the ranks of women, stepped forth a woman, dressed in a white short dress, a spear behind her and a metal head accessory on her forehead.
"Show him the path to the shortest route towards the capital." Benihime ordered.
"As you wish." Isla bowed her head, and then began to walk away, leaving the room when Luminis was standing at the entrance.
"Well then, have a safe journey, Traveler." Benihime waved.
Luminis bowed his head a bit, and with that existed, while Alpha was still waving effortlessly at the women.
...
Arriving outside the Rizaha village, Isla led Luminis and Alpha through the forest, the morning sun still basking in their forms.
The more they walked, the more Luminis began to keep his guard up, he still found it hard to believe Benihime would be so helpful from the bottom of her heart, especially considering he was poisoned.
And thus, he made sure to maintain a certain distance away from Isla, his eyes keenly focused on her and his surroundings in case she would try to make any move.
'Aril? Why exactly did you not tell me about a shortcut?'
[Apologies, I chose the most secure and easiest path you could take, the rest of the paths I scanned for had multiple other living creatures, chances of danger were at a high risk]
'I see.' Luminis replied, then suddenly halted when he sensed something.
Even Alpha suddenly took an attacking stance, her claws out as she began looking around desperately.
"What is it? Why did you suddenly stop?" Isla asked, turning around to look at them.
With his composure still in place, Luminis responded, "We are being ambushed".
"What? This is an isolated area, there is no life form for miles, how could we be getting ambushed, I don't sense anything," Isla replied, but despite what she said, her hand was still hitching towards her spear.
'Perception.'
From Luminis's feet, a wide range scan spread and from this he was able to easily track down the figures hunting them.
About five were standing on the tree branches, three were in the bushes from both sides and another four was slowly closing the distance from behind.
But from everything, Luminis was able to tell exactly what the people who were on his tail were from his skill perception.
"Looks like we got elves chasing us now." He uttered with a grin, water slowly surrounding his form, set and ready to battle the first one to charge at him.
