Kenji and Horikita made their way on the convenience store.

"Instant noodles. They have so many kinds of flavor."

"So, do boys really like this kind of stuff? I can't imagine that it's healthy."

"I like them just fine when I get lazy cooking my own food you know?" Kenji puts some into his basket as he said.

"Wow, this is enormous. It's a G Cup. I've never tried one."

Kenji glanced a little bit of Horikita's chest as he said those words.

"Kawamoto-kun, Were you thinking about something stupid just now?" she asked.

"Eeer. No?"

"I felt like you were acting strangely."

She could sense his inappropriate thoughts just by looking at him. She was a sharp one.

"I was just wondering whether or not I should buy this. What do you think?"

"Oh. Well, I suppose that's fine. Anyway, do you really think you should buy that? This school offers far healthier food options. Don't you think it's better to avoid eating junk?"

"Well true enough. It's important to have a healthy diet. Our body is the greatest asset after all."

And so Kenji put back the instant noodle cup on the shelves. To be honest he already have quite the ingredients in his basket so he didn't need to buy them.

Both of them buy of necessities for daily life.

To be honest Kawamoto didn't really need necessities for his hygiene. As long as he could use the prana, he could keep himself clean using magic.

They lined up in the cashier area where they swipe of their I.D. cards to pay for their purchases.

There seems to be quite the trouble so they had to wait for a while.

Finally it was their turn as they finished their transaction.

"How does the school benefit from giving us this much money?" Kenji mumbled.

"I wonder. The campus has more than enough facilities for the number of students, and I wouldn't think it necessary to hand out so much. Students who should be studying might slack off." Horikita replied

"I won't tell you what to do, but I think it would be best to avoid wasting your money. It's difficult to fix frivolous spending habits. Once a person gets used to an easy life, they find they need more and more. When you lose it, the shock can be great." Horikita said.

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind." Kenji chuckled a little bit.

"What's so funny?"

"I just found you being so concerned with someone so charming. I misjudged you a little bit."

Horikita perplexed, sighed.

In the second day of class.

Students were rather disappointed on how genuinely warm and friendly the teachers at this school are.

The red-haired guy names Sudou has already made himself a spectacle by sleeping in the middle of class.

And then lunch break came.

Unfortunately for Kenji he hadn't made any friends yet. He's sighing how he's gonna make friends after how many years.

He made comrades back in his past life and they enjoyed their time together. For him they were his closest and dear friends. Making friends would mean they would be at the same league as those people, and that would be truly unthinkable for him. No one can match them after going through hell of battles entrusting their backs with each other.

Still he needed to at least try. And he was lost on how to start doing it.

"How pathetic." Horikita is the only person who noticed how he felt, and she met his pain with derisive laughter.

"What? What's pathetic?" Kenji asked.

"'I want someone to invite me along. I want to eat with someone!' Your thoughts are like an open book."

"Are you an esper? How did you know what I was thinking? I'll have you punished for the invasion of my privacy for reading my mind you know? And besides you're not doing any better either. I haven't seen you talked to anyone yet."

"That's right. I prefer to be alone." she replied quickly, without hesitation. "Why don't you stop worrying about me and instead think about yourself?"

"Well it was concerning that an actual human being would be fine without friends. I'm surprised, shocked even."

"I don't need your concern. Well then if you'll excuse me." Horikita gave a pitying look before leaving him behind.

Kawamoto Kenji evaluated himself.

From his looks he could say he was quite handsome. Taller than average and well built muscular body hiding beneath his clothes. Despite that his presence is lacking compared to the really popular guy like Hirata.

'Well it's only the second day of class. There will be plenty of opportunities to make friends. No need to rush.' Kenji thought so.

Kenji didn't think that he would be a subject of someone's pity before. After all he was a hero who was revered by the common people in the past after all.

He opened his lunchbox that he prepared this morning. And as he did, the fragrant smell of delicious food made his stomach growl.

He prayed to the gods with his hands clasped together and began to eat.

"You're Kawamoto-kun, right?"

A girl came to his seat and said. It was Kushida Kikyou, the kindhearted girl who helped the old lady in the bus.

Kenji however wasn't happy that his meal time was interrupted.

"Yes, and you are?"

"I'm Kushida, from your class. Do you remember me?"

"Yeah, kinda. Do you need something?"

"To tell you the truth, there's something I wanted to ask you. It's just one little question. Kawamoto-kun, are you on good terms with Horikita-san?"

"I wouldn't really say we're on good terms. Did she say something to you?"

"Oh, no. Well, do you remember when I said I wanted to get along with everyone in class? That's why I wanted everyone's contact info. But... Horikita turned me down."

"By the way why did you think we're on good terms? We only met yesterday you know?"

"Well I saw both of you yesterday walking together in the convenience store. And Horikita-san only talked to you in the class. And oh! Weren't you two talking outside the school on the day of the entrance ceremony?" Kushida said.

Kenji thought it's just right. It's only natural to think so.

"I was just wondering what kind of person Horikita-san is." Kushida continued. "Is she the type who'll talk a lot when she's with a friend?"

"I don't think she's very good at interacting with others. Why are you asking about Horikita, anyway? Don't tell me..."

'you are into Yuri?' is what he'd like to ask, but he decided not to say it.

"What?"

"Nothing, please continue."

"Well, during our introductions, Horikita-san walked out of the classroom, right? It seems like she hasn't talked to anybody yet, so I'm a little worried about her."

"That's unfortunate. I can't really help you. We only met yesterday you see."

"Hmm. I see. I thought that you two must have been old friends before starting school here. I'm sorry to have asked you such a strange question."

Kushida bowed.

"Well, it's nice to meet you again, Kawamoto-kun."

With an outstretched hand Kushida made. Kenji returned the gesture in a handshake.

"Nice to meet you too."

They might not be friends yet, but interpersonal relationships starts when two people meet exchange greetings and introducing each other's names.
