I stared out the window at passing scenery as Alexander drove, my head spinning with the events of the last few hours.
I had just experienced and seen magic in its purest form.
It couldn't happen since magic didn't exist. When she lighted candles and sliced Alexander's hand, I could see that the weird redhead was up to something. That was as perceptible to me as rain or gravity.
“So, would you explain this apartment situation ?”
As I looked over to Alexander, I could see he was struggling to maintain his air of indifference.
My stomach churned with nervous energy, and I hesitated to respond. I knew I would have to face repercussions for squatting illegally eventually, but I didn't expect to have to explain the situation to the building's actual owner. A uncaring middle manager or building caretaker was always who I pictured.
