K: Untangling Wings

Many weeks later, Rafaela still studied frantically, but with every appearance of calm intensity. Her motions were small and unhurried. Her eyes scanned endless pages of information, but simply seemed focused on the screens in front of her.

The King of Eks Corp sat in an office room, behind a desk, just as the King always had. The decorations were a bit different. There were two visible doorways. But as far as the Solar System residents were concerned, the King was simply working as usual.

From what Rafaela now knew about what past Kings had accomplished, she wasn't even willing to bet that her frantic research was at all unusual, it was just her goal that was different.

Brendan, and everyone else, assumed that Eks Corp would eradicate the organization that had finally been revealed. They had been fighting this 'Regency' for years now, they just hadn't figured out that their opponent wasn't one of the corporations.
