Chapter 16 - Start of the entrance examination [2]

Slowly, all of us walked behind Andra in a straight line, as she had told us to, and we entered the auditorium of the academy, which was connected directly to the main building.

"Stop." Andra said as we stood at the end of a hall, before a gate that would lead to the auditorium, "now I want all of you to keep completely silent once we enter here. Aside from you, there are about 15 more groups of students that came before you, a few days prior, so I want all of you to stay well behaved." she said as she moved forward and opened the door.

*slam*

On a large stage at the center of the auditorium, an old man, wearing a blue suit that went well with his long gray hair, stood in front of a podium, and stood there waiting for everyone to arrive.

After a couple of minutes had passed and all the applicants had arrived, the old man began to speak, "Good morning everyone, I am the headmaster of the academy, Michael Compton, and I would like to wish all of you the best of luck, as of the 3000 odd candidates present here only 300 students will be selected to attend the academy." after pausing for a moment to let his previous sentence to sink in, he once more started to speak,"This means that only 10% of all of you that have applied will actually get selected, 100 for each course, mage course, knight course, and the regular course"

Done with his speech, the headmaster looked to his right and called the tall black haired man in a gray suit, "Professor Antonio, please complete the rest of the explanation."

"Thank you sir principal." Moving forward, he bowed at the principal, thanking him, before he started to speak, "Now, as the headmaster has explained, only 300 hundred of you shall be accepted, which means that only the cream of the crop get to enter the academy, and to do such filtering, we will be testing you on a multitude of factors."

The professor bought his left hand up and flicked up one finger as he spoke, "First will be the written assessment, which is rather simple, in that you have to answer 5 questions, each of which will put you into different solutions, and you have to find out how to get out of those situations. Another 15 questions that will test the breadth of your knowledge, and a last 5 questions to see how imaginative you can be."

Flipping open the second finger he said, "After the written test, you will all be taken to different gymnasiums, to have your mana absorption rates tested, after which the teachers in said gymnasium will take your physical assessment. The physical assessment will include a stamina, speed, and strength test."

Flipping open his third finger the professor said, "After the above two tests are done, the teachers will spar with you, depending on what course you have chosen, except for the general course students who will have a debate with the teachers on various topics."

"Once the tests are complete, you will be allowed to leave, and the results will be announced tomorrow." he said as he put down his hand on the podium.

"I will not be taking any questions, if you have any then please ask the teacher who escorted you here. Thank you, now may the gods be with you." he said as he turned around and walked to where the rest of the teachers stood.

Another teacher came up to the podium and said, "Well with that done, teachers please escort your groups to their respected classes that have been assigned to them on their applicant form."

"Disperse" He said as he clapped his hands.

Once the teacher asked everyone to disperse Andra turned around to look at us and said."Now all of you follow me, we will be heading towards your examination hall."

Once Andra asked us to follow her, we walked for about another 5 minutes as we reached the main compound where our tests would take place.

Once we reached the main compound, miss Andra took us to a corner, and started to speak,"Now everyone has already been told what class they have been assigned for the test, so you are allowed to disperse once I say so. Now before you go I have one more thing to inform you. Once the tests are over you are to come here and stand at the very same place we are standing right now, if you are late, I will leave you behind, and you will be disqualified from the test, is that understood."

'"YES MA'AM" responded everyone.

"Good, now best of luck and disperse." she said as she clapped allowing us to disperse.

Walking around the first floor I looked for my class, as I whispered to myself, with my application card in my hand, that I had gotten a print out of once I entered the main hall,"Hmm class 1-C"

"Hmm ah there it is." I said as I found my class."May I come in?" I said as I poked my hand inside and asked the teacher's permission.

"Come in." the teacher who was leaning on the table said as she looked at me, before letting me in.

"Sit on the 2nd seat of the 3rd column" she said once I entered the room.

With a nod I responded as I moved to my assigned seat, "Yes ma'am"

Once I took my seat, she nodded and started to speak, "Now in 5 minutes I will be distributing your answer sheets where you will be giving the test, and your question papers. You will have a total of 15 minutes to read the question paper."

After a small pause she continued explaining the rules of the test, "No writing is permitted during the 15 minutes given for reading the question paper, if you are caught writing, you will be disqualified immediately."

"It is obvious, but cheating is not allowed, and you will be disqualified if you are caught." she said as she got off the table and walked around the class.

"Any questions?" she said once she reached the other side of the classroom.

one of the students that was sitting on the front right corner of the room raised her hand and asked, "Are we allowed to write on the question paper?"

With a shake of the head, the teacher responded."No, you are not, you have an answer sheet, so you can add any rough work there. If it is necessary we can give you a rough sheet." once the teacher was done with her explanation, she looked at the student, who nodded and put her hand down.

"Any other question?" she said as she looked at the rest of the class.

"…"

With a clap she once more started t move around the room as she spoke, "Great now we have another 3 minutes before I distribute your papers, so I want you to keep complete silence."

Taking a look at her watch she said, as she picked up the two stacks of papers on her table and said, "I will now be distributing your question papers, also there is no use cheating, as all the questions here are unique, so all of you will have completely different question papers." done speaking, she walked around the room distributing the answer sheet and question paper one at a time.

Done distributing the answer sheets she returned to her desk, and looked at her watch as she spoke ,"Now you have 15 minutes to read your question papers, after which your test starts."

'Hmm let's see' I thought to myself as I flipped the pages slowly one at a time, analyzing the questions to see how difficult they were. 'doesn't seem too hard, but then again this is my second time giving the test, if I actually found this to be difficult I would have to dig myself a hole and bury myself inside.' I thought as I had come to the conclusion that the difficulty wasn't very high for the test. Which later I would find out to not have been true at all.

Exactly 15 minutes after she distributed the papers the teacher clapped her hands, getting the attention of the entire class, and started to speak."Your 15 minutes are up, and your time starts now."

With a pause she held a piece of paper and started to recite its contents."You have 3 hours to complete all the questions given on the test, leaving questions is not permitted, at all, you must attempt everything."

Once she was done reading out the rules she put the paper down and said, "Good Luck, you may now begin writing."
