A NEW BEGINNING. CHAPTER - 2. A LIFE CHANGING ACCIDENT

"I take it back, today really is a terrible first day." Justin whispered to himself as his first day of school came to an end.

He just found out that the man in charge of the goons who were after him is Amethyst's father. Justin knew he was planning something based on the creepy smile he gave him, So he was in a hurry to get home before those guys could come after him again.

"Boss, I have a visual on the target again." said Mr. Jones in the comms as he tried his best to keep a low profile on the other side of the road.

"Good, don't loose him this time" the boss spoke or rather Amethyst's father spoke.

"Damn it...not again!" said Justin as he noticed that he was once again being followed.

As Justin started to run, he soon came to a stop when he noticed that one of the goons was standing in front of him blocking his path. He quickly turned around and started to run again. Suddenly, he quickly came to another stop when another one of the goons blocked his path again.

"Seriously?!" Justin exclaimed frustrating with the whole ordeal.

Justin had pursuers on his right and left but luckily there was an ally behind him. Justin ran down the ally thinking it would lead to his escape...oh how wrong he was. Justin soon found himself at a dead end.

It was not a wall that stood in his path though. It was the third goon waiting for him at the end of the ally and once again Justin found himself surrounded.

"Again?!, are you kidding me?!" Justin exclaimed as he face palmed himself.

This was getting ridiculous and Justin could sense that this was merely the beginning.

"Sorry kid, but you don't have anywhere left to run, so just come with us and we won't hurt you." Said the only woman among the three.

"Your not very bright are you?" Justin asked dryly as he tried his best to fabricate a plan.

"Excuse me!" she exclaimed, clearly offended by what was asked.

"You can't be, if you think I'm going to go anywhere with you people"

"This morning there were four of you besides your boss, someone's missing from your little foursome here." Justin remarked sarcastically to annoy them.

"Don't worry, I'm right here." said Mr. Jones making a last minute entrance.

"Ok, whoever it is that you people want, it isn't me." Spoke Justin trying to talk them out of whatever they were going to do.

"You are Justin Jackson are you not?" asked Mr. Jones.

"Um,...I'm afraid not, but he sounds like a very cool guy though so you can let me go since this is a big misunderstanding." said Justin attempting to get out of the mess he was in.

"How stupid do you think I am?" asked Mr. Jones as he grew irritated.

"Are you sure you want me to answer that." Justin asked sarcastically.

"You've got jokes, let's see if your still laughing after this." Mr. Jones replied with a serious look on his face as the other three tried to grab him.

But Justin wasn't going quietly, he started fighting back. He gave one of the guys a bloody nose and fractured the other one's wrist. Once their grip was loosened he took advantage and attempted to make a run for it.

"Are you serious, he's just a kid." said Mr. Jones in disbelief.

"If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself." Mr. Jones said to himself as he hit him in the head, knocking him unconscious.

"Lights out you little brat." Mr. Jones mocked as Justin slowly surrendered to the darkness.

About an hour later, Justin started to wake up.

"Ugh...what happened?" Justin groaned while holding his head.

"Oh, you finally woke up." a voice in the room said.

Justin looked beside him to see who it was and to his surprise it was Amethyst's father or the boss.

"This isn't because I sorta flirted with...I mean talked to your daughter is it?" asked Justin with a sarcastic tone.

"No, but I will be keeping an eye on you for that." her father replied.

"Then what is it that you want from me then?" asked Justin.

"Lets just say it has something to do with your father." her father replied.

"My father huh, why am I not surprised?" Justin asked rhetorically.

"I'm Director Jayce Stone, and your father was my best friend. I used to visit all the time when you were a kid. You even called me uncle Jayce sometimes." he said.

"Really?, I don't remember that." Justin replied.

"It's ok, I didn't think you would." Amethyst's father or rather Director Stone replied.

"So you're in charge here, wherever here is." said Justin as he started looking around the room.

"Oh yeah, almost forgot, you're in a top secret organization called the A.D.A and yes I'm in charge here, I believe you have already met Mr. Jones." said Director. Stone, as Mr. Jones approached them.

"Yeah, that's the bastard that hit me in my head and knocked me out." Justin said as he started getting angry.

"Now, now, calm down....wait you hit him in the head, why?, I gave specific orders not harm him." Director Stone asked Mr. Jones.

"My apologies sir, it wasn't part of the plan but he wouldn't go quietly, but I don't think he has a concussion, just to make sure...you think you can say the letters of the alphabet for me?" Mr. Jones spoke as he mocked Justin.

"Sure I can say the alphabet, but instead of starting from A and end with Z, I'll start with a F and end with a U, how does that sound?" Justin replied with a comeback.

"Why you little...." Mr. Jones replied as he started getting angry but was cut off.

"Cut it out you two, we don't have time for this." Director. Stone intervened.

"Justin, come with me, I need to show you something, you can ask any questions you want on the way." Director. Stone continued.

"Ok, what is it that you do here at the A.D.A? Justin asked.

"Classified." Director Stone replied.

"Ok,... how many of these places are there?" Justin asked again.

"Also classified." Director Stone replied.

"Um ok then,... what does A.D.A stand for? Justin asked again.

"Very classified." Director Stone replied again.

Justin was slowly losing his patience with the answers he was getting.

"So what was the point of giving me permission to ask questions then?" Justin asked frustrated with the director.

"Don't worry, not everything's classified. For example, I can talk about that pendant that you're wearing around your neck." said Director Stone.

"Wait,... you know what this is?" Justin asked as he was excited to finally get some answers.

"Yes I do, it's part of the reason why I brought you here." Director Stone replied.

"Ok, so what is it then?" Justin asked impatiently.

"Lets just say it's a power core for something your father discovered, an energy source basically, shaped like a cube." Director Stone started to explain as they arrived at where Director Stone was taking him.

Justin saw a few people working or making preparations for something and at the center of the room was a small circular looking pod with some black shards in it.

"Do those shards look familiar" Director Stone asked.

"Yeah, they're black just like my pendant but those are in different shapes and sizes though." Justin answered.

"During the 7/15 incident twelve years ago, an explosion caused the cube to shatter into pieces which are those shards you see up there and they got scattered throughout the globe. We've been searching and gathering these shards for the last twelve yeas and we've finally found the last and most important shard, the core, which just so happens to be that very same pendant around your neck. Seems like your father left it for you which is why I believe that your DNA can put it back together." He continued explaining.

"SAY WHAT!" Justin exclaimed his mind going in overdrive.

"Look I don't know why my dad left this for me but I'm not giving you my DNA,... OUCH!" Justin shouted as Mr. Jones pricked his finger with a needle and took the pendant from around his neck.

"Sorry, did that hurt?" Mr. Jones asked sarcastically while smiling.

"I'll get you back for that." Justin said angrily.

Mr. Jones took the needle with Justin's blood dripping off it and held it over the pendant or rather the power core, as the blood fell on it. Couple seconds passed and nothing happened.

"Sooo,...was all that for nothing?" asked Justin.

Suddenly, the core started floating in the air, out of Mr. Jones hand. They all stepped back as they got freaked out.

"Wow, what's happening?" Justin asked with a look of horror and fascination on his face.

"I don't know." Director Stone replied.

The core started glowing as the colour started to change from black to blue as if it had been reawakened by Justin's blood. It started moving towards the other shards but the pod was in it's way.

"Quick!, open the pod." Director Stone ordered.

As soon as it was opened, the other shards also started to float and glow and that black colour turned to blue as soon as the core got close to them. The shards started to form around the core into the shape of a cube, like it was fixing itself. When the cracks were sealed a bright light appeared as the cube fixed itself completely.

Suddenly, the machine that was connected to the cube to absorb it's energy, began to short circuit and explode in an instant.

Kate, the woman who was with Mr. Jones when he abducted Justin, was the scientist who built it.

"Kate, I thought you said that machine could absorb the energy from a nuclear explosion." Director Stone asked.

"It can, and it couldn't absorb the energy, it barely lasted a minute, the cube's power could almost be limitless." Kate replied.

"Incredible!" director Stone exclaimed.

The cube's energy could neither be absorbed or contained, so a large amount of it's energy was shot through the roof into the sky, making the sky light up for all of Manhattan to see, maybe all of New York. The citizens stood in awe of the light show above them.

Soon afterwards, that massive release of energy from a singular spot caused the ground to shake. It sent a shockwave throughout the city, causing structural damage to buildings and other infrastructure. It also knocked out the entire city's power like a giant EMP. Suddenly, Justin found himself drawn to the cube, he started walking towards it as if he was in a trance of some sort.

"JUSTIN!!" Director Stone shouted trying to stop the boy.

"What the hell are you doing, get away from it." he went on.

But Justin was unaware of anything going on around him. It was like the cube was calling out to him. He stretched his hands out to reach for it.

"No, don't do it Justin, it could kill you." Director Stone tried to dissuade him, but, not hearing anything, Justin touched it anyway.

But something happened when he touched it, something strange. It was like the energy started flowing into him and his eyes changed, in both his eyes, his irises and pupils disappeared and his eyes started glowing white, almost too bright to look at up close. But while that was happening, he had a vision. He saw humanoid forms in the distance as they approached him but he couldn't see their faces.

"Qui electus, qui electus, qui electus." they kept repeating over and over.

As soon as the vision was over, the cube's energy grew to be too much and it released another devastating wave of energy, destroying the entire room and causing some minor damages to the rest of the facility.

"Ugh," Director Stone groaned as he got up of the ground.

"Mr. Jones, wake up." Director Stone called as he helped Mr. Jones up.

"Where's Justin?" Director Stone asked as he started panicking

"There, over there." Said Mr. Jones as he pointed in Justin's direction.

Justin was lying under a lot of debris.

"Justin, hey Justin," Director Stone said as he and Mr. Jones removed the debris.

After successfully clearing the debris, Mr. Jones touched Justin's neck to see if he could feel a pulse among other things. Just to ensure the boy was ok.

Turning to the director, Mr. Jones said in a sad tone,

"Sir, h-he,...he's not breathing."

Hello again my loyal readers. I really hope you enjoyed that chapter and that cliffhanger.
