A HERO IS BORN CHAPTER - 6

BEEP!, BEEP!, BEEP! went Justin's alarm clock at 7:00 am.

Damn it! exclaimed Justin as he destroyed his alarm clock trying to hit the snooze button.

"Good morning" said Sarah as she opened the door.

"Honestly I don't see anything good about it." said Justin.

"I see you're still not used to your super strength." Sarah replied as she noticed the smashed alarm clock.

"Hurry up, you're gonna be late for school, and you're paying for the alarm clock by the way." Sarah said laughing as she closed the door behind her.

"Ugh!" Justin groaned as he covered his face with his pillow.

Only a few hours had passed since the fight between Justin and Brody but Sarah kept avoiding the elephant in the room and pretended that last night didn't happen. Every time Justin would try and get some answers from her, she would dodge every question he asked, but he decided to try again one last time.

"Hey Mom, um....about what happened last night....." Justin began but got interrupted.

"Justin, I said your gonna be late for school, so you better go." Sarah repeated trying to

avoid his question again.

"Um....okay." said Justin realizing things were starting to get awkward.

"I have to find a way to make things go back to normal." Justin thought to himself as he was walking to school.

As he walked through the school gates, he noticed the gym,....or what was left of it. After all the excitement last night with Brody, Justin almost forgot about what happened the last time he was at school. Suddenly, Chloe came up to him, and she was furious. She punched Justin right in the arm.

"Ouch!" Justin exclaimed trying to pretend that it hurt.

"Damn it!...what the hell?!,...do you have a steel plate in your arm or something?" Chloe groaned in pain.

"What the hell cuz?" Chloe questioned as she was caressing her knuckles.

"Um..., what do you mean? Justin asked confused.

"She's talking about the explosion that happened at the gym yesterday." said Max as he was walking up to them.

"Hey Max, and that's right, just how did you survive?" Chloe asked in complete detective mode.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Justin replied playing dumb.

"Right after gym class, you went to the locker room and I saw Duncan follow you in there and he looked pissed, and 1minute later, the whole gym blew sky high." Max interrupted.

"And you were nowhere to be found when the fire department showed up, well...good news and bad news... Duncan was hurt pretty bad....." Chloe continued.

"And what's the bad news?" Justin interrupted.

Both Chloe and Max paused and look at each other with surprised looks on their faces and then looked back at Justin.

"Um....Justin, that was the bad news." Chloe answered a look of confusion on her face.

"Says who?" said Justin with a straight face.

*Chuckle!*, "Damn, that's cold brahh." Max commented while trying not crack up.

While they were talking, someone was walking up towards them.

"Hey, you're that kid I saw running away from the gym when it exploded covered in burns,...at least you were covered in burns." He rambled out, causing Chloe and Max to look at him confused.

"What do you want Kade?" Max asked not thrilled to see him and not believing a word he spoke.

"What happened to all the burns that you had yesterday?" Kade asked Justin, blatantly ignoring Max.

"Did this midget just ignore me?!" Max called him out very annoyed.

"What did you just call me?! Kade spat angrily at him as the others shuck their heads.

"Ok you two, can we not do this right now" Chloe interrupted trying to separate them.

"Justin, this is a friend of mine, Kade Wilson, he has an ego, kinda annoying at times and is a bit on the short side, but he's good people and as you can see....these two can't get along." Chloe introduced him summing it up nicely.

"I can hear you yah know." Kade spat feeling a bit insulted.

"Kade, this is my cousin, Justin Jackson." Chloe continued.

"Oh, so you're the kid whose Dad was responsible for the 7/15 incident and who was in the crater after that monster disappeared." Kade blurted out insensitively.

"Really dude!" Chloe spoke through gritted teeth as she nudged Kade in his arm.

"Classic Kade, causing a problem everytime you open your mouth." Max spoke, rolling his eyes in the process.

"You're really starting to get on top of my nerves Max." Kade replied clenching his fist in anger.

"I told you guys to cut it out!" Chloe shouted as she slapped both of them on the back of their heads.

"OUCH!!" they both groaned.

"Kade, you need to apologize." ordered Chloe.

"Sorry man" Kade mumbled.

"Its cool, I'm starting to get used to it" Justin replied.

"Oh and about those burns I saw yesterday....." Kade continued not letting it go.

"Oh you were probably just seeing things, as you can see; I don't have burns, I'm totally fine." Justin lied trying to bring down suspicions.

"Well Justin, I'm glad to see that you're quickly making friends." Amethyst spoke as she appeared in front of them.

"Hey Amethyst." Justin greeted her with a slight grin on his face.

"Well, looks like he's already has a soft spot for her" Chloe thought to herself after seeing that.

"What are you guys talking about?" Amethyst questioned.

"The gym explosion yesterday, I'm just wondering what could've caused it?" Chloe answered, as she scratched the back of her neck.

"I know right; it's weird isn't it? I heard that the gas cylinders exploded but the firemen couldn't find anything that could've caused it." Amethyst spoke, spilling what she had heard so far.

"A lot of weird stuff has been happening lately, power goes out through out the city, huge earthquake that could've leveled the city, the gym spontaneously combusts and to top it all; a huge beam of light shot up into the sky, all on the same day." Max replied, listing out the strange occurrences one by one.

"And did you hear about the huge battle that happened last night, there's some rumors going around that these guys had powers or something like that." Chloe added in excitement.

"Its not just rumors, some one managed to record the fight" Amethyst joined in as she took her phone out and showed them.

"Wow!, is that guy glowing?" Kade asked in disbelief as they gathered around Amethyst's phone.

"Come on guys, its gotta be some sort of special effects" Justin commented nervously trying to throw them off track when he realized it was him in the video.

"Damn, I didn't notice someone was filming me" Justin thought to himself.

"With all the weird stuff that's been happening lately, I don't think so" Max replied.

"Apparently the police are on a man hunt for this guy because they think he had something to do with the 7/15 incident 12 years ago" Amethyst revealed, causing Justin to feel on edge.

"We're gonna be late for class so why don't we talk more after school." Chloe suggested.

"Oh I cant, I'm going to the hospital to see Duncan." Amethyst replied.

"Checking up on your boyfriend huh" Kade teased with a grin.

"Boyfriend?,........your dating that guy?" Justin asked surprised.

"Ooohh!, that's gotta sting." Chloe thought to herself as she observed the situation.

"Yeah, I know you guys didn't get off to a good start and that he was an insensitive jerk to you but trust me; he isn't a bad person, you just need to get to know him better." Amethyst answered, Defending him.

"Ha, yeah, I don't see that happening." Justin mumbled.

As the end of the school day approached, all of the students and faculty found themselves talking about all the unexplainable things that have been happening lately, but Justin was just glad that no one realized that it was him in the video,.....or so he thought.

AT THE POLICE DEPT., COUPLE HOURS LATER

"Captain Sting, do you really think that whoever this guy is; has something to do with the 7/15 incident 12 years ago" asked one of the officers.

"Yeah I do,... in fact, I'd bet my job on it." Captain Sting replied as he kept watching over the video of the glowing man that's been circulating on the internet since last night until he came to a realization. He paused the video and kept staring at the glowing man.

"I knew it." He said.

"Gather some squad cars and meet me at this address." He said as he rushed out of his office.

"Captain, what are we doing?" the officer asked.

" Taking down this son of a bitch." The captain replied.

MEANWHILE AT THE JACKSON RESIDENCE

"Hey mom." Justin called as he stepped through the door.

"Hey, how was school?" Sarah asked.

" It was normal except all everyone could talk about was the fight last night since someone managed to get it on video." Justin replied.

" Did anyone recognize you?, you didn't have your mask on the entire time" Sarah asked with a worried tone in her voice.

"Don't worry mom, there was a lot of energy surrounding me, I'm sure no one recognized me." Justin answered confidently.

"New York Police Department, open up!" a voice shouted from the other side of their front door startling the duo.

Justin and his mother stared at each other in shock for a couple seconds before Justin went to open the door. To his surprise, there was an entire swat team covering his front lawn.

"Justin Jackson, long time no see." Captain Sting spoke with a serious look on his face.

"What do you want?!" Justin asked with hatred in his voice.

"You're under arrest" Captain Sting informed him as another man hand cuffed Justin and read him his rights.

"For what?" Justin asked furiously.

"Obstruction of Justice, Wide spread damage of city property, oh......and murder." Captain Sting explained in quickly.

"You're all out of your minds." Sarah shouted.

"You're not taking me anywhere." Justin spoke as his eyes started to glow.

Justin was about to loose his temper and expose himself in front of everyone. Then he saw his mother's face, as she was shaking her head telling him not to do it, which brought him back to his senses, then he decided to just let them take him. Everyone in the neighborhood stepped outside their houses in time to see Captain Sting pushing Justin in the backseat of the police cruiser,... as his mother just watched as the cars drove
