Cheating the System in Danmachi

Aelita Graves was a strange child with a strange name, taken from a cartoon character her father loved growing up. She grew up a relatively normal girl, becoming an adult and going to a high profile school on scholarship to study music. But things became very strange indeed when she clicked on an advertisement on her laptop out of curiosity. Finding herself in a room with a man, she was offered a choice to a new and exciting life. Intrigued, Aelita decided to take the offer of adventure. Finding herself in the forest, she hears a voice. [Host has awakened. Welcome, Aelita, to the world of Danmachi.] AN:I will admit that this is my first novel. I'm truly just trying this out because 1-I have no more books to read currently, and 2-I want to see how far I can take this.

The Next Day

Waking up the next day at 6 am, I felt ready to have another go in the dungeon. Leaving the inn, I made my way back to the dungeon. Going past another guard, I started to make my way down the dungeon. It started out better than yesterday because I already did this yesterday. Deciding that having a goal wouldn't be very beneficial, I decided to go until 5 pm like yesterday.

I made it to the end of the 4th floor before it was even time for lunch, so I decided that I was going to go ahead and go down to the next floor.

When I got off the stairs, however, the dungeon had changed. It was no longer the dark colored rock. Instead, it was a lighter green, which I was grateful for since it made it easier to see. I went through the 5th floor and didn't find anything. No monsters spawned; it was just a giant empty floor. I decided this was the perfect time to take a break, and sat down to sharpen my weapon and eat a light lunch I bought through the System.

Continuing down to the 6th floor the color remained the same, but this floor did have monsters spawning. As each monster spawned, I took the time to study the new ones. A humanoid shape made of jagged shadow lurched around. Near it, ants that reached mid thigh swarmed over each other, followed closely behind by a set of giant frogs that looked to be normal except only having one full eye.

I asked the System what they were. It informed me that the shadow creature was called a War Shadow and is considered the strongest monster on this floor. It possessed long arms with finger knives that they could use as long or close range weapons. The giant ants were called Killer Ants, and I snorted at the name. How original. I was warned that they have powerful bites and hard shells with a focus on pact tactics that will swarm the attacker close to its death. The cyclops frog seemed the least dangerous out of the new monsters with its only attack being smacking you with its tongue.

Deciding that it would be best to start with the easiest monsters, I went towards one of the frogs and tried to fight it. It wasn't as agile as the Kobolds, but it was the first enemy to attack with any range. Dodging the sticky tongue, I ran up to it and cut it down the center. Picking up the Stone, i noticed it was a good few centimeters bigger than a goblin's.

Weighing my options, I decided the single War Shadow would be better to get out of the way before dealing with the swarm of ants that awaited my further in. Running up to a single War Shadow I dodged its initial strike and tried cutting it in half horizontally. I managed to cut into it about 5 cm, but then its body started pushing the sword out. Dodging the swipe that came at me as I disengaged, I backed up a few feet.

Glancing down at my sword, I realized that in order to go further down into the dungeon, I was going to need a better sword. Deciding to work with what I had for the time being, I charged my sword with mana. Trying again, I ran up to it dodged its swipe again, and tried again to cut it horizontally. This time it worked, and turned into purple dust.

Going through the floor and killing every War Shadow and Frog Shooter I found til it was nearing dinner time, I ended up with 45 Frog Shooter cores, and 20 War Shadow Cores.

I didn't get to write yesterday or the day before, because of July 4th and I didn't take my medicine yesterday. If I don't take it I become very unfocused. I couldn't even focus on reading books. So here is a chapter that is around half as long as usual.
