Time is Essential

SCOTT POV

Stanley was right. It will be hard to make business deals with Alva Woodsworth. Diana wouldn't be much of a fast pass, given that her mother is as heavy as a boulder, something even Diana couldn't move.

Seeing them together doesn't convince me they have a filial bond, nothing but an imperceptible motherly love uncommon in a wolf household. Alva stood at her pedestal, intriguingly condescends Diana who is a supressed Alpha wolf.

Earlier today, I did my best to sense anything out of Alva. There's nothing, no darkness or even coldness. Just. Plain. Nothingness. Maybe that's why Stanley thought they are humans, he couldn't sense anything.

That definitely bothers me. It goes to show Diana and the mother she knew, are possibly not related. I cannot say Diana is in danger with her. Knowing that for the longest period of time, Diana is well taken cared of, and even manicured from head to toe.

Another speculation is, she could also be supressed like Diana, whom if I didn't imprinted on, I wouldn't know she's a wolf. But then again, I cannot ignore the fact that Alva sends off a treacherous vibe, and the reason why the wolf in them are suppressed.

One thing is for sure, Alva needs Diana safe and close. The question is, why?

Tonight, I drove off to Diana's home, snuck into their yard and waited in the dark. A few seconds later, Cory and David arrived alongside me.

Last night, their home was filled with a vampire's scent and a nagual's stench. Is Alva working with vampires and nagualli? Wolves never trust and work with other beings. Suspiscious and very much concerning, I am anxious considering my Luna is in the middle of them all. I had the pack survey the area from then.

"The area is clean, Alpha", David whisphered.

"Alpha, this city has never been disturbed by vamps for a long time. Why do you think they are appearing now? And a Nagua? I hate those creatures they…", Cory mumbled as David shushed him with his finger.

"Coryyy… someone might hear us", David kept Cory's mouth shut.

"Just keep on checking the area. Something's not right here", I closed my eyes sniffing the wind. I looked up to Diana's room, and the lights are still on. She's still awake.

"I'll just be up for a second", I said as the two ran off to guard the area. I tapped my bulging pocket checking for the box I brought along for my Luna.

I threw rocks on her window and kept doing so until she came out. She opened the window and her beautiful face suddenly peeked out.

"What are you doing here?", Diana widened her eyes seeing me.

"Back up, I'm going in", I jumped up to her room and let myself in. I looked around and see how lush and opulent her room is. Something that doesn't fit her personality.

"Are you out of your mind??", Diana said as she tied her white silk robe close covering her slender body.

"Yes..", I slumped on her soft bed. Her scent lingered on her pillows just as I thought.

"What are you doing here?", she whispered panically peeking out the window.

"I missed you already, that's what", I sat up biting my lower lip and grabbed her on her wrist and embraced her on her waist in between my legs. She then patted my head like a puppy.

I looked up to her as she tries to keep herself from laughing.

"Find me cute or falling in…", I teased her as I see her face blush.

"You are incredibly crazy, Scott. My mother might see you here. It wouldn't be a pleasant sight for man to be seen in a woman's room", Diana said as she push me on the bed.

"Do you think, we should get married so it's more proper?", I laid down on the bed supporting my body with my elbows. Smiling at how conservative she is. "I'm just worried about you", I pulled her on the bed as she laid beside me, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Am I the first guy here?", I asked.

"Of course Hendrick comes here too", she smiled sweetly as ever with her hand supporting her head. "I've never been in a relationship before, and never invited a man in my room.", Diana have this spellbinding stare that easily melts my heart.

"Are you…", I cleared my throat before I continued. "seducing me? because I'm not very easy to get", I said as I brush her lip with my finger. "Oh.. I have something for you..", we both sat up facing each other.

I took the box out of my pocket, and saw her gaze shift from me to the box. I opened it in front of her and saw delight in her eyes.

"It's pretty", Diana's eyes twinkled staring at the ornament inside the box.

"I never saw you wear anything like an earring, a ring or a necklace. And I guess, this moon phase watch would be very useful for a doctor like you", I removed the black leather gold watch with diamond embellishments from the box and fitted it on her wrist. She grazed on the blue moon phase display on the watch as she smiled with her eyes.

"This is me reminding you that time is essential, we can't get it back when it's lost", I smiled wetting my lips, as I stared on hers.

"Are you telling me you want an answer now?", her gaze became serious and slowly moved close to me. I swallowed a lump in my throat, and could hear my heart beat so loud. I waited until her lips touch mine.

.. when suddenly someone knocked on the door.

I heard her chuckled softly and pulled me behind the thick curtains to hide.

"Come in", she said as she sat on the bed like nothing happened.

"It's past 10 in the evening and you're still up", Alva came in with a glass of milk placing it on the side table. She was wearing a very long black laced robe, a typw that when you see her in the dark, you would get shivers down your spine.

"I was about to, mother", Diana said as she stood up to face Alva. I noticed Alva glanced at the watch Diana's wearing.

"Do not be bothered by the Devlins. I will take care of them. What's this?.", her mother held Diana's hand up.

"It's a gift. I was just trying it on", Diana replied.

Alva looked around the room as I kept myself hidden, holding my breath as if my wolf scent doesn't fill the air. "Ugly. Anyway, that boy Scott Devlin, be wary of him. Businessmen don't do anything for free", she clicked her tongue as she led herself out.

"There's nothing you can handle, I suppose. Good night, mother", Diana said as she closed the door.

I hopped on the bed and reached for the milk. It smelled awful. I knew it, Alva have something under her sleeves and I intend to find out.

"Don't drink this. It has a sleeping essence? It's too strong, I'd say", I took the glass, poured the milk and flushed it in the toilet.

"It does?", Diana sat on the bed as she watched me sullenly. "She gives me that every night.", she said as she exhaled sharply.

"Go to sleep, I'll watch you", I laid on the bed and pulled her tucking in under the covers.

"Scott.. take me out of here", she said before she closed her eyes.
