It beats only for you

DIANA POV

"Third and last debt.", I elaborated. "So, what will I do this time?", I asked as I put down the beach towel.

With Scott being topless, I noticed girls take a glimpse at him every now and then. I can't blame them, he really does look appealing with his sculptured body.

"I'll be in your bungalow at 5:30pm, just before the sunset", Scott smirked a little said as he wrap me up again with the towel.

"Do I need to prepare anything?", I asked as I loosened the towel he wrapped me with. "It's humid Scott, I don't feel cold at all", I added.

"No.", Scott as he tucked my lock of hair behind my ear. "You keep looking at other people", he added.

'What is he doing?', I thought. Scott is getting more touchy, and somewhat flirtatious. Did I miss something?

"Haven't you noticed, they keep staring at you. And I don't like getting attention", as I fixed my wet hair and placed it on one side.

Scott chuckled.

"Like no one sees you when you came? I almost poke the eyes of my pack just by staring at you", he laughed as he directed his head showing his bunch of friends who look like they ravage the gym everyday. "Don't wear something like this ever.. I like your tattoo by the way", he added as he look down on my body.

'Me? I look completely normal unlike other girls here who appeared to be more seductive.', I thought. I would've worn a rash guard, I never found my body pleasing. But Kate was so persistent for me to wear a bikini, she have always admired my physique even if I find myself unappealing.

"You always choose the nicest words to attract women", I applaud at his remarks sarcastically. "I had a tattoo to cover my ugly scar". I said as I looked down. He mumbled something but I wasn't able to hear it.

"Hey… Are you okay?", he suddenly asked in a serious tone as he swept his hair back.

"Yes", I lied fidgeting with the edge of the towel.

"Doesn't look like it", Scott said as he took my hand and clasped it with both of his hands. My heart fluttered at his touch.

"Diana", he continued, "I am not gifted with mind reading. But, I'm sensitive with everything about you. I can't exactly explain now but.. I would feel it when you're sad, lonely, angry or in danger. Right now, I can tell something is bothering you. If you won't tell me, I won't fully understand."

I gaped at what he said then pulled out my hand from him and felt warmth in my ears.

"Why would you? Well, It's actually a long story", I'm so confused with how he tenderly look.

"Hey Scott! We're bored and we want to go boating. Will you take us?", Christina said as she stood behind Scott with her arms crossed.

Scott twisted his body to look at her. "I'll tell Cory", he answered timidly.

"Hi Christina.", I greeted her with a smile.

"Oh I didn't noticed you there, Diana", she raised a brow as she acknowledged me.

'How could she not notice me when I'm just sitting right beside Scott?', I thought. She's like ready to start a cat fight.

I moved closer and whispered, "You're jealous girlfriend is here to pick you up". I chuckled a little as I tease him.

Surprisingly, Scott turned back moved much closer inching to my face and whisphered, "She's not my girl friend".

I was startled and backed away a little. Clearing my throat, I stood up as I look at Christina who is extremely looking irritated right now. "Hmm I'll go ahead and leave you two. Christina, Scott", as I nodded to each of them.

Scott grabbed my hand and said, "Later?".

Christina rolled her eyes at me. I just smiled and nodded in approval then left.

********

After trying on a pile of clothes, Scott finally chose to wear a white V-neck loose polo shirt, and a white pair of loose pants. He fixed his hair in the mirror and stared for a while before wetting his lips. 'Why do I feel like, she didn't fully imprint on me?', he thought.

Before leaving, he made sure that the island staff will set up a nice dinner for two at Diana's balcony. He walked towards Diana's bungalow in long strides, seemingly eager and anxious. He paused at the sight of the overwater bridge to her bungalow. 'It's only been a few hours, and I miss her terribly already', he thought.

He approached Diana's bungalow, and headed straight onto the balcony. The dinner set up he wanted was simple - a table covered with a white cloth, fresh white flowers setup from the floor crawling up to the table top and candles in glass holders surrounding the balcony. His gaze shifted to the lady wearing a white off shoulder dress, who was sitting on one of the chairs with her legs crossed, reading a book. She looked effortlessly enthralling just with her hair being blown by the wind.

She glanced at Scott, confused why she's getting such attention.

"Isn't this a little over the top, Scott?", Diana wondered closing her book and placing it on the table.

Scott went over Diana and sat on the chair comfortably.

"Isn't it you who prepared this? I'm actually impressed", Scott grinned as he make fun of Diana.

"Is that supposed to be funny?", Diana rolled her eyes. Somehow, she wondered if Scott likes her or just being playful.

They both remained silent as the sun started to set. Scott took a glance at Diana whose eyes were glimmering from the sundown.

"Beautiful", he uttered.

"It is.", Diana said as she continously stared at the beautiful scenery.

"I never knew that the sunset could look more beautiful", Scott said as he stare at Diana. "Would you like to dance with me?", offering his hand.

"There's no music, and I don't dance.", Diana whispered shyly at Scott.

"I don't dance too. There's no one here though.", Scott said as he looked around and then, forcibly grabbed her hand to drag her up.

Diana's heart fluttered again at his touch. She thought this guy is too flirtatious, he can make anyone fall for him so easily.

They did a promenade dance position as they sway side to side. Scott mumbled a tune as Diana was flustered with how silly he was. They both laughed as Scott twisted and turned Diana a couple of times.

Scott started to take it slow. He rested Diana's hands around his neck then placed his hands on her waist. He pulled her closer then hummed the same tune he played when he first met her.

"What song is that?", Diana definitely heard this song somewhere before.

"It's a lullabye my mother used to sing to me", he said, closing his eyes and feeling the rhythm as they dance slowly.

"So, how many girls fell for this?", Diana asked as she intertwined her fingers behind his neck.

"You're the first.. and the only person I will do this with", Scott said as he opened his eyes and met her gaze.

"Your heartbeat is different. It's usually fast, but now it matches mine.", Diana said as she rested her ear to his chest.

"It beats only for you", he said without holding back.

"Does it beat well enough… for a doctor like me?", Diana closed her eyes as she bit her lower lip.

"Is that a joke?", Scott as he gripped her a little hard.

"I'm not the type who make jokes.", Diana looked at Scott as she put her hands down.

He stopped then let go of Diana not breaking his gaze at her.

"I was sincere when I offered my friendship. I want to be real and honest. I will continue to be your friend, even if I am the person you hate the most", Diana breathe deeply and gave out her palm to Scott.

Scott was tormented as her voice echoed in his head. Everytime he hears the word 'doctor', old wounds become fresh. He remembered how his mother pleaded the doctor for a cure, how his desperate dad became hopeful knowing he can have a happy life ahead and most importantly, how that certain doctor brutally killed his father.

His eyes darkened as he clenched his hands. 'The moon goddess always play tricks on me'

Without saying a word, he left.
