Chapter 2 "Transmigration"

CRING..! CRING..!

An alarm blared in the room waking Ruan Wen up intensifying her headache. She did not remember setting her alarm on, irritated she tried to reach the phone to stop the alarm but her hands did not touch the bedside table instead she toppled off the bed falling from a top bunk landing face down the ground.

"OW!" Ruan Wen exclaimed as she held her head sitting up.

"You alright?", a girl doing her makeup who she faintly recognize asked her.

'And where am I?' She thought.

"What…? Where am I?", she asked aloud to the first girl as she look around her.

She was in a relatively tiny six person bedroom with three bunk beds on the sides and six pairs of study tables around.

'Why a I in a university dorm room?'

It's been years since I lived in a dorm room, I don't even think I know anyone who still living in a university dormitory.

"Are you still sleeping? Where else do you think you are?", the girl annoyingly replied as she pack her bag readying to go out.

"Are you alright?", the girl felt guilty for snapping asked her with concern.

"Hiss…!" Ruan Wen felt a sharp pain in her head. "Yeah, I'm alright thank you."

"You sure? I'm going to the cafeteria, do you need me to get you something?", she asked.

"No, it's alright. Thank you!", Ruan Wen replied smiling.

Not convinced, the girl gave her a once over and proceeded to go out.

After the girl went out, Ruan Wen was the only person left in the dorm room. She saw a glimpse of herself in a mirror on one of the study tables and was shocked to see that that was not her! The face of the girl reflected, although different, she can still see a shadow of her real face. It was like a beauty filter on top of her real face, in the mirror she can see a narrow heart shaped face with thick eyebrows, naturally curled long lashes, tall slightly upturned button nose, and dark bright peach blossom eyes that greatly contrast with her jade like. Although she has dark circles under her eyes and pale skin, it is still a beauty!

Still holding the mirror Ruan Wen sat on the nearest bed, her body still throbbing with pain when she fell off the bed, it feels real! But unconvinced she pinched her arm…and there still hurts, it hurts more now! She's awake and in a different body! Ruan Wen started to sort out information in her head, she concluded that she most probably transmigrated!

Apparently the dream she had earlier wasn't just a simple dream, it was a memory of this body! She transmigrated to the body of person with the same name as her although with the exact opposite of her life.

Maybe because she often read fantasy transmigration brain burning online novels, she found it easier to accept what had happen to her. Still she wondered what about her real body, her family and friends, and whether she really died in her sleep.

Even thinking that the worst part is that she had to repeat school again! She was almost done, only the finals exams and she'll graduate! So much hard work for nothing! She lamented.

They are all students from the english department of the university. This makes her more frustrated, she was a graduate engineering student specializing in chemical and pharmaceutical research! Now I'm stuck in a body of an english major!

On the bright side, english is basically her second language and she barely needs to think about it when it came to the speaking the language itself. And as a researcher, most of her papers and studies are all in english, so it's hardly a hindrance to her.

The original owner was not really close to any of her roommates and barely talk to her. And her parents barely have contact with her, the only people that can probably notice that she replaced the original owner.

She felt sad for the original owner.

"I don't know how this happened, but thank you for giving me another chance to live." As if talking to the reflection in the mirror, "I promise I'll take care of us and try to live a good life!"

As she said this, Ruan Wen felt the original owner's soul let go. Giving a little prayer for her and hoping she'll finally reunite with her beloved grandparents.
