Chapter 11 - Ambush

The hooded figure appeared to be muttering something in the distance, but when its mouth closed. Her arms came down slowly as if controlling something.

A huge ball of fire suddenly descended from the heavens. Reaching the Orc's body and everyone around him.

BANG

Like an explosion of a huge bomb, the fireball exploded when it touched the ground, creating a strong pressure of hot air and pushing everything around it.

Drake, who was particularly far away, was sent flying. His body was spinning, making him lose his sense of balance, as the hot air seemed to be melting all of his skin.

Using his Crimson bloodline in an attempt to withstand this scorching heat, Drake counted with luck as he followed its trajectory in flight.

When the glow from the explosion ceased. The battlefield was found covered in flames, becoming like clouds that covered the orange skies. In the distance, a huge mushroom shaped column of smoke could be seen.

At the explosion site, there was a huge crater tens of meters high. There was no sign of the Orc's body or the barbarians who had just been fighting.

Drake's momentum weakened, causing his speed to slow, again causing him to land in a distant location.

The glowing red color in Drake's pupils accentuated with the flames that surrounded the battlefield. Looking around and trying to get up, Drake felt pain when he tried to support himself on his right arm, it seems that more broken bones have joined the collection.

Drake felt an excruciating pain coming from his collarbone, looking at it he saw the shape of a sharp bone protruding out of his skin, almost piercing it.

Even Drake, being a battle junkie, felt a little wronged. Things have been spiraling out of control all too often, but it couldn't get any worse, right?

Drake glanced in the direction the hooded figure should have been, but the sight had him scolding himself for having the earlier thought.

There were what seemed to be centuries of soldiers in silver armor, moved by the hooded figure, who walked alongside a figure that easily exceeded 2 meters. He had a huge build, with silver armor that seemed to reflect all the lights of that fateful night, his head was protected by a knight's helmet, but what caught attention was a huge greatsword that he carried on his back.

They walked with a carefree posture towards the battlefield.

Looking at so many soldiers, Drake felt that this was his limit. Coward or not, he wouldn't stay here a second longer, making up his mind, he decided to run, but before he could run, he heard a scream.

"VIBURG!" Kaesir grabs hold of the rubble some distance away from Drake. Every hair on his body was burned off, his skin was charred, with blisters bursting and blood streaming all over his body.

Kaesir was blinded by hatred, today, he had lost his village, his family and now, he would lose his life. Kaesir's enraged eyes darted around, until his eyes landed on Drake. Regaining some lucidity, one of his hands reached into a small pocket in one of the rags that had yet to be burned.

Throwing something wrapped in a cloth towards Drake, he said.

"Young Drake, RUN!"

At the end of his voice, his body moved in a lunge, toward the approaching army in the distance.

Drake caught the piece of cloth that was thrown at him. Not stopping to see its contents, he ran. In his mind, passed the memory of the few moments he spent in Deore village. A feeling of helplessness filled his entire heart, making an unearthly hatred bubble in the depths of his soul.

As he ran, something wet seemed to collect in the corner of his eyes, closing his eyes and running, he headed towards the dense forest. Behind him the sound of Kaesir's struggle sounded as the hooded figure's voice gave an order.

"Get the boy!"

When Drake was about to enter the forest. At a glance, he saw the giant silver knight moving towards him. All of his instincts screamed for him to run. Entering the forest, the trees blurred around him.

The darkness made the path a little confusing, causing Drake to almost crash into the trees that were in his path. Drake hadn't stopped for a second, the muscles in his leg were burning, but he couldn't afford to stop now.

The sound of heavy footsteps little by little became prominent, a silvery figure with a huge sword on his back was running through the darkness of the forest. Getting closer and closer.

Looking back, Drake caught a glimpse of the giant, a translucent fiery energy enveloping his legs, turning out to be a fire element aura.

His pupils glowing red, Drake pushed his bloodline to the limit, trying to accelerate his speed.

He had used the bloodline continuously since the beginning of the battle with the Orc, causing a lethargy to begin to spread within him. It had been a few minutes since he had been running through the forest, but the silvery figure was still chasing him and getting closer and closer.

Drake was already at his physical limit, his muscles were burning, his lungs gasping for air as if he were about to drown. He was running out of strength, in his vision, everything was becoming blurred.

From behind, a voice with a metallic effect rang out.

" CRIMSON BOY, STOP OR YOU WILL DIE!"

Drake didn't even look back, continuing his charge. The odds were not in his favor, he must have discovered her identity from the effect of her lineage on her eyes. Even though he knows, he still pursues him.

Bargaining using his family name was no longer an option, if they chased him this far, they would probably be planning to kill him.

Sweat trickled down Drake's face, making the dried blood on his body slightly damp, his disheveled hair still from the pressure of the wind.

His stock of energy had been drained, causing his speed to decrease. In a desperate attempt, Drake tried to absorb mana to try to replenish his energy.

The mana in his body was being drawn in at the same rate as before, which would take maybe a day to recover.

The silver knight was 5 meters away from Drake, his hands already prepared to grab his prey.

Drake felt that all was lost. Until a warm sensation came from the object he was holding in his hand. A torrent of mana was entering his body through the cloth Drake was holding.

His pupils that had lost their brightness, again glowed in an even more intense red, causing his speed to increase. The distance between him and the Knight began to increase little by little.

The surprised Knight shouted.

"DROP THAT STONE!"

The Knight unsheathed his sword, but as his distance was greater than his sword, his only option was to throw it.

The silver figure's entire body was enveloped in fiery orange energy. Holding his greatsword as if he were throwing a spear, with a throwing motion, his arm moved.

Swish

His sword came out of his hand at an impressive speed, cutting down all the trees that were in his path. Closer and closer to Drake's back.

Drake didn't have to look back. He felt the touch of death was about to overtake him, but before he thought to react, his feet tripped over a tree root.

Drake stumbled rolling on the ground, when something terrifying went through destroying all the trees that were in front of him, where he was previously. Drake looked in shock but didn't stop, taking advantage of his rolling speed and enduring the pain of his broken bones, he got up quickly and kept running.

The mana stone was constantly replenishing his energy, but Drake felt that this supply was not infinite, not wanting to test it, Drake ran.

In the distance, the Silver Rider stood looking down at Drake's disappearing figure into the darkness. He had consumed more than half of his Aura stock just to chase this teenager, yet still not succeeding.

His expression was hidden by his silver helm, but the hot energy that surrounded him made him look irritated.

With slow steps, he walked towards where he threw his sword.

--

Drake was running wildly, not stopping for a second. It had been thirty minutes since he'd noticed movement behind him, but he didn't want to see if it was real or not.

His bones seemed to be creaking with his sudden movements, his eyes, now dark, decreasing his energy expenditure a little. In the middle of this dark forest, his only source of light was the moonlight, which crept through the foliage of the trees above his head. So far,

Drake has not encountered any wild animals, perhaps because of all the noise he was making when running. But he wasn't willing to stay here, at the mercy of his heady scent of blood, which could attract predators at any moment.

Looking into the distance, he saw rocky mountains, which rose towards the sky. Using his last strength, he went to these rocks in search of an isolated place, so that he could at least pass out peacefully.

Approaching the Rocky Mountains, he was forced to withdraw from the darkness of the forest. Stepping out of the trees, the moonlight reflected its silvery color in his dark eyes.

Allowing himself to slow down, Drake began his easy hike up the steep mountainside. Almost slipping a few times due to lack of concentration.

After a while, Drake managed to find a crevice that seemed to contain a relatively large space inside.

Squeezing through the crack, he almost got stuck, giving him a slight despair, making a little force, which ended up tearing a piece of his clothes, he went through the crack.

Inside was a small cave, about six feet square, which was enough to make Drake smile. Sitting on the floor, no thoughts passed Drake's mind as his head fell back, as his body finally allowed itself to rest.
