Chance System

Link woke up badly, his arm reached to shut off the alarm clock that would not stop ringing. He fumbled for a while but could not find the clock, hazy light shone through his window as his eyes adjusted. He looked around as the memories from last night filled his head, he looked around in a daze as he realized he had no alarm clock.

He stood up and looked around, before finding that the source of the alarm was coming from his mind. He was perplexed, he tried to focus on it.

Link read carefully, he rubbed his chin, these tasks were not forced, he could accept them at will, as it seemed not all tasks had punishments. He tentatively selected the exercise and relaxation tasks. Then before he selected the other task he tried to look at other abilities of the system.

There was only one other option besides tasks, which was [Chance Creation], he carefully studied it, he was presented with two options, [Chance item] and [Chance Place] He selected chance Item and was presented with various computer like art software. He was stunned, he realized at the costs of energy he can create items and define their abilities.

He then tried to select a chance place, and he was presented with a wider range of software, as if he was creating a game dungeon. He could create monsters and traps and such, though there was a note that he could not create creatures with a will. There was also a note that the place either had to be unowned or he had to have property rights to modify a place.

He then looked at his energy and was presented with a big fat 0. He then looked back at the first task, he did not know what energy debt would do to him, but then he paid careful attention and realized that there was no time limit. He wondered what would determine failure. He shook his head and grit his teeth.

He selected a chance place and selected his tea shop. He first checked the energy level and realized it, he can absorb materials and energy to increase the energy level. He nodded, then accepted the task, gaining 100 energy. His first thought about remodeling. He first started with the exterior.

He was very careful, he didn't change too crazy, just touching it up, making it look newer. It was a brick building, he carefully made it as if it had just been washed. He then made a more drastic move, he moved the door from the center to the right side, and made it open inward to the right.

Then he added an open glass window that showed into the shop. He was not too worried about people questioning, people won't believe it anyways. He looked at the energy cost, only 3, he breathed a sigh of relief, it seemed that redecorating won't cost much, he still had to test to put the rest of his ideas in mind.

First he started on the interior. There is a wide open area, a bar, and behind the bar is stairs leading upstairs, there are three rooms upstairs, a master bedroom, a guest bedroom that is currently being used as storage, and a bathroom. He thought for a moment, then remodeled his bedroom to how his bedroom looked in his last life. His eyes bulged at the energy cost.

He looked at the items that cost a lot and realized it was mostly his works. His paintings, calligraphy and statues. He was confused his paintings weren't supernatural, he tried to query the system and got an answer that made his eyes widen, he was a grandmaster and his works carried intent.

He was curious, he never noticed any intent, he would have to study more into that area. He removed all his works, and just had a simple modern bedroom. He did the same to the bathroom and guest room. He realized that when he absorbed the old furniture he got some energy back.

He made note of that and continued to modify the interior. He debated on what to do, he eventually went for simple elegance. The hardwood floor was replaced with a grey tile floor, white walls, with ebony wood trim. He carefully made the chairs, a hardwood ebony, with a cushion on the bottom and back, he debated for a moment then decided against armrests.

He created 6 small round ebony tables, just right so it was filled but not crowded. Each table had two chairs. He stacked six extra chairs in the corner if a customer wanted more. He then thought, and added two bookshelves side by side on the back wall, ebony of course. He was mixing black and white.

Then he thought for a moment, added some simple fiction novels, the basic meditation, and then with a bit of evil taste he added all his school textbooks from kindergarten to highschool. He had already checked in his memory, the science of this world is not much different from his old world, if anything the old world is a bit more comprehensive.

He then thought for a moment, then added glass on top of the tables and counter, it would be easier to clean if there were spills. He did not add stools to the bar, but he did change it to ebony and added cupboards underneath. His cash register was old fashioned, coins were still used and there were no paper currencies.

He thought for a moment and saw how much it would cost for a digital cash register, then it was not much so he changed it. He then thought for a moment, and on one side added a tea dispenser facing inward on the bar. He added hot and cold options, this would be the actual selling point and energy earner.

He then started to design 5 teas. The cheapest was a tea called 'Happy Tea', this is where it went out of the norm, he set the tea so that the tea reminds you of a happy moment, it was random. This was one of his tests of the system, he then checked the price and it cost 1 energy per 10 cups, he set it for 10 gold per cup.

The next three teas were targeted, 'Vitality Tea', 'Spirit Tea', and 'Source Tea'. The first two are beneficial to the body and soul respectively, and the source tea was useful for energy category cultivation, this was another test, and each one cost 5 energy per 10 cups. He then thought hard for a moment.

The currency of the world is divided into copper, silver, and gold coins. But there is a higher currency, energy stones, that can be used for cultivation, and there are five grades, with fifth grade being the worst and 1st grade being the best. It's just he doesn't have an energy value for them so he was unsure.

He then grit his teeth and put 5 fifth grade energy stones for each one, and then decided to have a wait and see attitude. Then he thought of the last tea… enlightenment tea.
