Chapter 1In The Vast Woods

Run.

Don't turn back now. No matter how heavy my heart feels for this selfish decision that I had to make. My heart is telling me to forget about this and head back, but what I've said and done would have been pointless if I turn around.

It takes every bit of my strength to escape; I am not in my optimal state. My very surrounding is dark but serene. Tall trees block the moonlight making it hard to see. I doubt I would find my way out of these vast woods. It's unrecognizable in the dark.

My bare feet touch the ground, the soft, damp soil after a prolonged afternoon rain. I could still remember the rainbow that formed on the beautiful bright sky. That was only this afternoon. Everyone was laughing, smiling, and dancing, including myself. But that's over now, and here I am about to escape.

The only noise coming from me is my soft, quick panting as I stop on the spot to catch my breath while I try to find familiarity on the path I'm taking. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see something that would lift my spirits.

Fireflies that would light my way. I can't help but smile. To see something beautiful on this sad night, maybe it's not as miserable now.

But only for a quick second, I had that smile and felt my sadness slip away my forehead creases; I know I can't stay in these woods for long. Creatures of the dark may be lurking. The flowers, the trees, and the wind would tell on me. There are many eyes and many ears everywhere. I must be careful not to wake them.

And so I continue running. Getting farther away from the place I once called my home, the people I would call my family, and the life I'd forever treasure. But I have no choice. I have to get us out of here, even if in the process of doing so, I would lose them, I would lose you.

I will come back one day, although I doubt I'd be forgiven after abandoning everything I have. But they would understand my point of view and reasons, I hope so. I'd be back but not alone. I will be bringing it with me.

Relief washes over me, and I let out a breath after finally seeing the cabin I've been looking for. Hope fuels me once again. My feet are aching, and my walking is unsteady. All wobbly, I make my way towards the cabin when I hear a soft voice behind me. I freeze on my spot, but I don't turn around, knowing very well what is behind me.

"Rosetta, what are you doing here so late at night?" in between yawns, a soft voice calls out to me. I break into a cold sweat, unable to let out a word.

Just give it a few seconds, she'll be back to sleep. Just keep completely quiet and stay still. I don't move; I don't speak. Fighting the urge to turn around and look at her, I shut my eyes counting down from ten.

"Hm, hello? Okay, I'm tired...goodnight Rosetta," and then follows soft snoring. I turn my head to see the tiny baby elf sleeping soundly below the thick leaves. Though it's dark, I could see the bright colors of the elves' sleeping nearby. If I hadn't been careful, I could have awoken tons of them.

My attention returns to the cabin; there's not much time to waste. She could have already told them, and they could have sent a search party already.

With trembling hands, I slip the key I've been holding into the keyhole. The old wooden door makes a soft creaking sound as I push it open. I step into the dark cabin, the smell of dust and wood welcomes me. The cold temperature dropped a little, but I was still shivering from the chill.

My hand feels for the switch on the side, and as I find it, my eyes adjusted to the sudden bright light. But I could see it better now. This cabin has gotten much older since I've been here; some places were slowly rotting.

I approach the small cabin's left corner; every step seems like this wooden floor would fall apart any second. I kneel on the ground feeling for a false piece of wood. When I felt it in my hands, I lifted it.

There appeared a small box with my mother's name on it. I hold the box in my hands, opening it and pulling out a familiar necklace with a purple gemstone pendant.

And as I held it in my hand, it glowed, and I feel the emotional power surging through me. But as soon as everything seemed to be going in slow motion around me, I hear loud familiar voices calling out my name from a distance, probably waking the entire woods.

They're coming, Rosetta. You have to go now.

A tear slips off my eye as I look around me once again. This could be the last time I'd be in this place, seeing this cabin. If I had other choices, I would not have resulted in this. It breaks my heart knowing that I would be failing them.

I'm sorry.

With the intense beating of my heart and my shaky hands, I wear the necklace around my neck, holding on to the glowing pendant that went warm under my touch. I whisper the same words I have said the time that brought me here.

"Bring me to the place I desire."

I whisper it non-stop with my eyes shut as the voices grow much louder. It pains to hear my name being called out, and I have to hold myself back from responding to them.

'Until the next time we meet again, my friends, I promise I'll come back.'

And it took only a few moments, and the place I once knew was gone. Who knows what is waiting for me on the other side.

"So, you laugh?" His voice was low, dangerously soft, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I swallowed hard, suddenly aware of how difficult it had become to breathe. "Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." In an instant, he closed the distance between us, so fast it left me breathless. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body, the heat of him making my skin tingle. I gasped, but before I could say a word, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming my mouth with a force that sent shockwaves through me. The kiss was punishing, hungry—I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. When he finally pulled back, I was trembling, my chest heaving as I struggled to regain my breath. His eyes, dark and stormy, searched mine with a possessive intensity. "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck. Was it you that night?

On the eve of their wedding, Yan Changsheng brought back a girl and publicly called off the marriage. Only then did Shen Qinghe realize that Yan Changsheng was the crazy male lead from a book, and the girl was the irresistible female protagonist. As for her, she was just early cannon fodder fated to die, and her elder sister was the malevolent female supporting character whom everyone wanted to beat up. Tsk, the plot is just freaking ridiculous! After awakening, Shen Qinghe busied herself with cultivation, protecting her elder sister. Yet, unknowingly seizing the female protagonist's luck, she attracted several crazy male leads, each of them forcibly taking what they wanted from her. She thought Dongfang Wuya was relatively normal, but who knew he was crazier, actually seizing the position of Heavenly Emperor and then forcibly marrying her to become the Heavenly Empress! ** As the high and mighty belle of the cultivation world, Dongfang Wuya had countless admirers and fans. Yet he was devoted to cultivation, treating love as if it were dirt. Initially thinking Shen Qinghe was deeply in love with him, he sternly advised her, "Focus on your cultivation, do not get distracted by romantic entanglements!" Later, irked by her dedication to cultivation, he pressed her into his arms and kissed her, seductively coaxing with a playful smile, "Be my Daoist companion, and I'll aid you in cultivation, hmm?" Mated To The Cruel Prince

[Matured Content] Saving an injured Fae in the forest had not been Islinda's plan, and worse, he turns out to be royalty, Prince Valerie of the summer court, heir and crown prince to the throne of Astaria. But then, humans were wary of those otherworldly creatures while the Fae looked down on the humans, thinking of them as lesser creatures. Islinda and the prince were worlds apart but that didn't stop them from falling in love.  Unfortunately, Prince Valerie couldn't stay in the human realm forever and had to return to his kingdom with a promise to come back for her. And she believed him.  But then, the other one comes instead.  Dark, broody, ruthless yet dangerously handsome, everyone feared Prince Aldric. Even as a fierce warrior and son to the king of Astaria, Aldric is denied his right to the throne and cursed never to take his place because of his dark heritage.  Twisted from the inside and starved of affection, Prince Aldric does what he is best at, causing misery. He captured  Islinda - the woman who has drawn his brother's attention. He stole her from her home for his cruel purpose. If he couldn't have the throne, he could at least play around with his brother's love interest. His new prize.  Islinda hated him. Loathed him for taking away everything that she could have had with the summer prince. He's the villain. Now she has been dragged into the middle of the dirty politics played in the courts of Astaria, not to mention surviving the cold games played by the prince.  But all hope wasn't lost because the cruel prince could tempt her all he wants but he was never going to get the one thing he wants the most. To be loved. He would never have her heart!  Or could he?  ________ "What can you offer me, little human," He grinned, slow and cruel. She would make such a wonderful plaything.  "Please," She begged him, tears now gathering in her eyes, "Just let me go."  "Fine," He shrugged as if it was an easy request, "You can go."  "W-what?" She croaked, finding it hard to believe.  "Little human, you would find out my mind changes very easily." Those words sounded merciful yet she could sense the threat beneath.  But did he really mean?  Islinda didn't sit around to find out as she broke into a sprint. If there was even the slightest chance of him changing his mind, then she would take it. She would not give up hope yet.  She didn't know why but Islinda spared a look over her shoulder after a while and the blood drained from her face at what she saw coming.  Oh no, she just made a terrible mistake.  This was never freedom.  It was a hunt.  And she just became the prey.  _________ Note: This is a dark fantasy book and the male lead is a villain, so don't expect fluffy romance. What to expect? Death, gore, thick sexual tension, and explicit scenes. Also, it is not reverse harem. Gift magic castle = 5 bonus chapters! Come, let us have a wild hunt!
